I know that the first person I told was my dad that I wanted to transition to being a woman and he has been very supportive, I am glad and if you know anyone in the united States there is one state that has it to where every health insurance company by 2023 has to cover transitional surgeries and that state is Colorado where I live and I am happy to be on the list and I am also looking at every surgery done I have suffered from gender dysphoria for years and my father wasn't shocked what shocked him and my roommate is the fact that I have waited for years to tell anyone it's not easy coming out

You do not need a gender therapist in the US. Once you turn 18 you can just get access to hormones from any doctor that will do it or at planned parenthood through the informed consent model.

I only realized I was trans a year and a half ago. In my childhood and youth there were no signs of it. This sometimes makes me doubt my knowledge of being trans, because most of the Trans-people are already recognizable at a young age. I'm a little confused about that. And thank you for this video.

You can be a feminine male or a masculine female . If you're " confused " , just be yourself . You don't have to " identify " as anything but YOURSELF ! Stop looking outside yourself . Concentrate on you . Your sexual identity doesn't define you or your life goals . Stop buying the lie . Good luck 😘

Similar thing here, I was/have never been super feminine and there were no signs through most of my childhood. Later in puberty (around 15) was where things began to get dysphoric "out of nowhere", but I denied being trans until I was 19.

The experience really depends on WHERE you are, like, if your surroundings made you have to mask your personality, if you have a personality disorder, or if you are autistic (I check all the points), you may have not shown signs at suchan early age, but you probably didnt feel exactly comfortable, but you could not kinda point where it was. But yeah, that is My experience, hope it helps :D

I feel like non knowing your trans while you’re growing up could cause PTSD the way not knowing your on the spectrum often does☹️ Having no idea why you’re struggling or don’t fit in the way you think you should & all that can REALLY make things so much worse… thats why i think its so important to educate kids on all of this a little bit when they’re young despite how conservatives feel about that,..

Excellent resource for new trans. Thank you! Some additional info for later transitions: If you have grey or white hairs, or have naturally lighter hair, laser hair removal will not work. In that case electrolysis is your only option for permanent hair removal. It takes a very long time (like 2 years of weekly appointments for full facial hair removal) but it works. Also if you have male pattern baldness, hair transplant surgery is a great option, plus you need to reduce natural testosterone to prevent further hair loss. The most effective drug for that is finisterre and it can be made in a topical formula.

Just a tip with pain, I had two major surgeries at once. (I'm not trans btw but it was a major deal) Even though I had morphine afterwards, it makes you very sleepy and is of course addictive. The nurse told me to take paracetamol (Tylenol) REGULARLY and it helped SO MUCH. I didn't think it would but it helped me right through the 3months it took to heal. Ibuprofen is good too... again REGULARLY.

I grew up knowing I was "different" without knowing what was different. I didn't "fit in with the boys" to the point I was constantly bullied. But as a boy I wasn't accepted by the girls either, girls and boys socialising was "not done". I never was much into my sister's toys, in part because I hate pink :) but also because my sister wouldn't let me anywhere near them most of the time. Except redecorating her doll house, which I loved doing. And that's how things stayed until past graduating college, still living in a society where there wasn't even a word for "transgender" (and I later found out it was actually illegal to be transgender, or for doctors to assist people with HRT or surgery). I didn't actually find out that transgenderism exists until about a decade ago, and been fighting the realisation ever since that that's what I am, in no small part because of the social stigmas around it, reinforced by the whole media attention with "drag queens" grooming children, men calling themselves women to get into women's dressing rooms to gawk in women changing clothes (or even raping them) and things like that. That wasn't me at all, and I didn't want to be in any way associated with that. Now I've come to accept what I am, and am actively engaging with several transgender friends who're helping me a lot. Here in the Netherlands is sounds similar to Sweden as you describe it, though the timeline and insurance coverage are somewhat different (e.g. you can't even get approval for surgery, let alone get it done (which gets you on waiting lists which can take years) until you've been socially transitioned (and under observation from a specialist mental health professional who has to sign off on it) for 2 years, the same specialist who also has to OK the legal transition and the referral to an endocrynologist for HRT). Given the waiting lists to get to see any specialist here (and the small number of them for this specialisation), in the Netherlands expect 3-4 years at least until you can go under the knife. Which is actually a lot less than I expected it to be based on prior research (which had shown the process to take a decade). The covered surgery here is different from Sweden it seems, but sounds like it's mostly what hurdles are placed before you to get approval for them (as they require stringent approval as "required for mental health" from your psychologist, and that psychologist is under instruction to be as strict as possible to save cost). Cost depends greatly on those medical indications and approvals. If you can get approval, a lot of it is covered by insurance past the mandatory 385 Euro "own risk" per year for any medical expense in the Netherlands. If you can't get approval, the cost goes through the roof. And some things are never covered. Hair removal for example is only conditionally covered ("in case of extreme facial hair growth") and then only for the face. Getting the rest of the body done is all at your own expense, which can (if my calculations are correct) run up to about 10.000 Euro in the Netherlands depending on the exact number of treatments you need. Any blood tests (and you're probably going to need a lot to fine tune your HRT, as well as before and after any surgical procedure) are never covered at all, and can get expensive (just standard tests for my diabetes checks run to about 75 Euros each for example, and I need that done every few months). Vocal training I think isn't covered at all either, though (pending approval by your psychologist, and depending on your existing vocal range) surgery for that might be covered (but from what I understand only if as you have an extremely deep voice). I might luck out there as my vocal cords were damaged by a disease at some point so my voice is rather bad as is (very scratchy, and coughing a LOT) but will have to see what happens when and if I ever get to that stage. I'm in my social transition already while waiting for doctor's appointments, got all new clothes, got some makeup, trying to get shoes that fit (which is hard even as a man for me given the size of my feet). For clothes I went mostly to Etsy. Finding that you can get larger sized clothes there is a godsend, and Bulgarians I noticed are lovely people who make wonderful feminine clothes that look good even if you have a pretty masculine figure still.
