How to transit at Hong Kong Airport

This video shows you how to transfer between flights at Hong Kong Airport. Hong Kong Airport is the hub of Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Express and Hong Kong Airlines. If your flight into Hong Kong is under the same booking as the onward flight, you will have received boarding passes for both flights when you first check in. As a result, you can go straight to a transfer point after getting off the plane.
Before you land, it is best to plan ahead by checking which gate your plane will park at after landing in Hong Kong, and the gate used by your onward flight.
Hong Kong Airport is huge, but transfer points are conveniently provided in all concourses. In most cases, you should follow the signs and go through the closest transfer point you can find.
However, if your onward flight uses a gate that is very far away or even in another concourse, you will usually have to take to Automated People Mover. The APM serves the Midfield Concourse and the West and East Halls of the Main Concourse. You can only take the APM to the East Hall when you are on the Arrivals Level and board it there when you are back on the Departures Level. Therefore as a rule of thumb, you should take the APM and get as close as possible to the gate of your next flight before using a transfer point, if the gate is to your east. Otherwise, you should use the transfer point first.
If your plane parked at the North Satellite Concourse and you have to board your onward flight at another concourse, you should take the bus back to the Main Concourse before using the first transfer point you find.
Once you have reached your transfer point, simply get in line, take your passport and boarding pass out for inspection, clear security, take an escalator back up to the Departures level and you’re home free! If there is still time, you can browse the shops, get something to eat or drink or use the lounge before boarding your next flight.
Please also be aware that only a few transfer points are open 24 hours. If you land in Hong Kong very late at night, you may not be able to use the closest transfer point after getting off the plane. For your information, the transfer point by Transfer Desks E2, W1 and M1 (in the Midfield Concourse) are always open.
Going by past experience, I will recommend having at least an hour and a half between flights so as to have ample time to clear security and enjoy the facilities of the airport.
