Well, it’s currently not possible to transfer chats on WhatsApp Business. That's what Meta/WhatsApp say. Let's just wait until they implement it on WhatsApp Business.

You will need to put your WhatsApp SIM card back to the old phone first. Then you'll be able to login as usual and see your chats. But if you use a different SIM card, then you'll login as a different user and won't be able to see your old chats.

Well, I haven't tried that one, so I can't give you a proven answer. But technically speaking, it should, as the destination app is identified by a unique QR code. You can just try it out without any harm as no data will be deleted on the old phone.
Hi, my Galaxy S7 (Android 8 in case that is important) doesn't have a built in QR code scanner, will it still scan the code? And will it transfer everything from the chats? I've had a Galaxy S23 for a few days now but haven't set it up yet because I'm a little scared to mess something up in terms of data transfer. Also what if I have the sim card in the old phone? I also think it's cool that you actually answer comments unlike many other youtubers who make these types of videos. Sorry if I ask too many questions xD.
@ineomanb
5 күн бұрын
Well, I have not done this on an old phone that doesn't have any built-in QR code scanner, but officially, chat history transfer is supported from WhatsApp 6. So as long as your WhatsApp on your Galaxy S7 is version 6 or later, it should have the chat transfer feature. Now whether it can actually scan the QR code or not, you can just try out the chat transfer procedure on the old phone (just on the old phone). Open WhatsApp on the old phone -> Settings -> Chats -> Transfer Chats -> Start. If WhatsApp shows a QR code scanner then it should be able to scan a QR code. This trial is safe and does not do any harm. If the SIM card is still on the old phone, then your number verification on the new phone would not be done automatically because the verification code will go to your old phone, so you'll have to key in the code manually on the new phone, which is not practical at all. If you only have mobile data through your WhatsApp number (no Wi-Fi network or second number), the best way to do this transfer is by firstly opening WhatsApp on your old phone and only then you move the SIM card from your phone to the new one. Having said all this, just to make sure you're confident doing the chat transfer, I would suggest that you backup your WhatsApp to Google drive first. This way, regardless of what happens to your old phone later, which eventually will stop functioning at some point due to its lifetime, you will still have your complete chats history and media files, which can be restored to your new phone anytime in the future.

Whatsapp is on the newest version and the transfer feature is in the settings. So it's better if I just put the sim card in the new phone before the transfer, right? Hopefully it will work if not then I just won't bother with it lol. Wish me luck and thx for the answers.
@paul10724

Also if I put the sim card in the new phone nothing changes in Whatsapp on the old phone, right? Like everything will be the same and I can transfer it? Sorry for asking so much lol.
@ineomanb
4 күн бұрын
Yup, best if you put the SIM card on the new phone. WhatsApp has made it very safe to do this chats transfer. Even if your data transfer fails, all your WhatsApp data on your old phone will still be there, and you can just redo the transfer. If after multiple attempts your data transfer still fails, you can just put back your SIM card on your old phone and login to your WhatsApp there as before. And lastly, this data transfer does not delete any WhatsApp data on your old phone. It just makes copies of those chats and media files. So even after successful transfer, your WhatsApp data on your old phone will still be there. If you use File explorer to look for the files, you can open com.whatspp folder. Your chats history will be in the WhatsApp database files, and your media files will be under the WhatsApp media folder.

@user-db9lb1hy5e This method has nothing to do with google drive. It's a completely another method of transferring your chats and media files from your old phone to a new one. Backing up your WhatsApp chats and media files in Google drive, as its name implies, is mainly for backup purpose, in case you lose your phone, or your phone is malfunction or damaged beyond repair such that you can't recover your data. So when you, for whatever reason, has to migrate your WhatsApp account to another phone, you can restore your chat history and media files from this backup. And this includes when you get a new phone to replace your old one. And to answer your question, yes, this transfer method transfers/copies all chats history and media files to your new phone, and your WhatsApp data in your old phone remains unchanged after the transfer.
If i make verification in new phone Can i uninstall it and reinstall it again and follow same step?

Hi sir what is different between retore from google drive and transfer chat history method?
@ineomanb
5 ай бұрын
The main difference is that, with this inter-wi-fi device data transfer, we don't need an internet connection for the data transfer to work, except for downloading whatsapp app on the new device. You don't even need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network at all. So if you're on a mobile data network with limited quota, you can save up some data charges. And secondly, you won't need google account if you don't have any. On the other hand, if you restore you whatsapp data from google Drive, you basically make a backup of your whole whatsapp data on google Drive first, and then download it to restore your whatsapp on your new phone. So in this case you'll need an internet connection and a google account. As for the data that are being transferred, the 2 methods transfer your whole whatsapp data, including group chats and all the media files (images, videos, docs) to your new phone. I hope this clears your doubts.

@ineomanb
2 күн бұрын
WhatsApp has never mentioned any limit on the size of the data that can be transferred using this direct phone-to-phone method, so it should work for any data size. Having said that, whether the large data transfer will be successful or not, it's another thing. The bigger the data, the longer the transfer will be. So the success will depend on whether your 2 phones, especially the old one, will be able to sustain the long data transfer process without any interruption. Interruption-free transfer is the key here. Secondly, a large data accumulated incrementally over a long period of time like WhatsApp chats data, are prone to data corruption. One or two files in your 20GB data could be corrupted, and they could cause the transfer to fail. There was one guy who said his transfer got stuck at 80%. There was a case where the data transfer failed due to the WhatsApp encryption. So there are many variables here. And lastly, yes. It transfer all your WhatsApp data including photos, videos, docs, etc.

The data transfer can only be done on a fresh whatsapp installation or dual account setup. If your number on the new phone is the same as that on the old one, then you have to reinstall whatsapp and hence you'll lose the new chats. But if right now u use a different number on the new phone, you can setup dual account and transfer the chats frm the old phone to the new one similar to this method. You can refer to my other video on setting up dual account for more details.

@ineomanb
4 ай бұрын
Yes, it transfers all the media files. And what happens if it suddenly stops? Honestly I didn't test the process under that scenarios, so can't tell you how it will be. But that will depend on why it stops. Someone mentioned his data transfer stopped because there was an incoming call, and the transfer did not resume automatically and he had to redo it again. And there's also someone who mentioned his data transfer stopped at 80% for no reason and without error msg, which could be due to some corrupted data (maybe). So it's really hard to give a definite answer to this question. But if your data is too big and you are not confident of using this method, I suggest you make a backup on Google drive, although there's no guarantee that it will succeed as some people have mentioned before.
@hamed6284

This data transfer method does not delete any WA data in your old phone. It actually copies the WA data from your old phone to the new one. Even after the transfer is successful, all your WA data in your old phone is unchanged. And if ever want to use your old phone again, you can put your WA SIM card back on it and login to your WA and you're back as it was. And if you make a backup on G drive, it's even more obvious that your WA data in your old phone will be unchanged as it just makes copies/backup of your data, regardless of whether it's successful or not. If you have many important media files in your WhatsApp, I suggest that you also make a separate general backup of those data on your PC/Mac or any cloud storage available for free, such as Google drive or Microsoft One Drive. You should not rely on WhatsApp data management only. Hopefully this helps :)
