@@saigiridhar2147 iCloud chat backup is not mandatory when you are using direct copy option. The way it works is, the App DBs are copied over using this direct copy process, and then the Apps are installed on the new phone (that use the same old DBs). So Whatsapp will be installed again, and then you'll be asked to do the SMS verification that will enable the connection to the old DB (and hence the old chats and media).

Jamie, this worked beautifully, transferring data from my old iPhone 7 to my new iPhone 11. After acquiring the image to transfer the data, my new phone wound up downloading and installing an OS upgrade, but after that, proceeded to do the data transfer, moving about 36GB of data in about 11 minutes. Thanks very much for the video, saved me a lot of frustration.

I just bought new iPhone 11’s for the wife and I, upgrading from our 7 Plus’. Well holy crap, this worked so good it’s crazy to me. I got the phones at AT&T, so I had to do the reset to get it started, but it worked flawlessly. I have so much work-related crap on here, it saved me a major headache (and getting the stink eye from my wife too!) Thanks, man! You earned the like!

OMG! That was so easy. Thanks!!! I was really so worried about transferring everything from my iPhone 6 plus to the iPhone XR, but this tutorial made it so easy. I had a difficult time transferring everything from iPhone 6 to 6 plus, I ended up manually airdropping pictures, videos and contacts between phones. Airdropping the contacts was a nightmare as I had to do it one by one. Thanks to this tutorial, I was able to set up my new iPhone in less than 10 minutes.

Worked without a hitch! I transferred the sim card from my old 6+ to my new 8+ after all the info was moved. I can't believe how easy it was! Took about 30 minutes to move 45gigs of shit....Thanks!!

I mean I know you have to have the phones close to eachother and fully charged and running ios 12.4 or newer for it to work usually

Dude you just won the HERO OF THE CENTURY AWARD in my book!!!! This is so much better and more efficient than iCloud and iTunes BS method!!! I'm a longtime iPhone user and every time I've upgraded to a new iPhone using iCloud and/or iTunes backup & restore, I would lose data here and there, photos, contacts, then have to double check/readjust my settings, log back in to all my apps, etc. and it would end up being a miserable stressful experience. Two things that happened for me after transfer was complete: 1) popup message from my new iPhone 11 Pro Max saying "iPhone is not Activated. Contact your carrier if this problem continues to occur." With Verizon Wireless, you have to turn off "Find My iPhone" or remove your Google account on the old iPhone, which I did right after both phones completed the transfer process, and 2) in Settings, I had to complete the "Finish Setting Up Your iPhone" process with Face ID and re-entering the CVV security codes to my debit/credit cards in Wallet & Apple Pay. Voila!!! The apps/iCloud syncing resumed, and so far so good! *fingers crossed* that no more issues come up. It's gonna be AWHIIIILE for my syncing to finish up...I have about 300 songs, 600 videos, 16k photos and 315 applications to transfer over soooo...yeah, lol. If I run into any issues or find anything new/useful, I'll be sure to come back and share my findings! Jamie you have no idea how much this means to me, and thanks a million for this tutorial! I am so sharing this epic-ness with friends and family! =)

it should do some of them but it might prompt you to re enter most of them because you are switching to a different device so apps might want to verify that or for other reasons

Definitely the best video I’ve seen on this so far especially about the Sim card because no other video ever mentioned that,now I can set up my new iPhone 11 just transfer the Sim card after I’m done. Thanks now you have a new subscriber.

For some reason it's not working for you, you might need to reboot both of your devices and start over again

Yes updating can take a while I’m sure it’s ok its best to let it finish but it depends on where it’s at in the updating process

I have tired this and it works, if for some reason you don’t have “Transfer from iPhone” option, it IS because the phone is not updated. It can be the new device that you received, what you have to do is set up the new device as New iPhone, no need to use Apple ID, or any back up. Connect it to power, and WiFi and update it. Make sure that your other phone is also up to date. After the update is complete, you can Reset and Erase everything from your new device and there you have it “Transfer From iPhone” option. Stay home and wash your hands

So as long as it’s got iOS 12.4 or later, it should be solid, even if the older iPhone is a iPhone 6?

yes it should work

To anyone having issues make sure your iOS on BOTH phones is the same OR new phone has a new version. I.e if your OLD phone is running iOS 13 but your NEW phone is still running 12.4 from factory you can’t data transfer. You must use quick set up the new iPhone use old Apple ID for this then update iOS to latest version, once complete reset new iPhone erasing all data. Now follow the instructions above👍. Took me 8 hrs to figure it out😂🤬🤬

use i cloud. Takes minutes and less headaches. It's only thing I use I cloud for. i use 3Utools for everything else including making my own ring tones. 3Utools is FREE

I have concern after I did this , everything is good except some of my app ( watsapp , messenger , Facebook ) can’t download with my new phone . I tried many times even restarting my phone can’t do it Can you tell me how to fix this ?

I'm not sure why it would do that? I never heard of it doing that, are you connected to the internet? be sure to connect to wifi and try it

Jamie Wanger Hi, I have a huge problem right now I really need help. 4 days ago I backed up my iPhone 6s 128 gb to my iTunes on PC to update it from iOS 10 to 13. The backup was completed after 6-7 hours, then I updated my iphone but after the update finished my phone was stuck on Apple logo so I had to restore it. After restoring I started to restore my backup on pc but I disconnected the phone from pc after 3 hours because the pc drive was being full only 2 gb left. (My pc made a new file while restoring my backup for whatever reason) There’s a chance that my main backup data is mixed with the new one. Then I copied my other iPhone’s backup to Drive D and I deleted it from drive C to free 60 GB space. Then I took my phone to service outside and they tried to restore the backup but it finished in like 30 mins and it only brought back applications which I don’t care about I just need my photos and videos back. They said your pc says your iTunes backup was corrupt and we cannot do anything. I tried in home as well and my pc made some new backups automatically and when I select on the backup that I made 4 days ago it says ITUNES COULDNT RESTORE THE BACKUP BECAUSE IT WAS CORRUPT. Please let me know if there is any ways to solve this problem because there was a lot of data in my phone near 128 gb 4 years of data PLEASE HELP ME Thank you very much!

Sorry this might be a silly question but the part about the SIM card, do I take the SIM card out of the old phone before I transfer the data and why do they put a SIM card into the new phone if you have to take it out? Sorry if this is a silly question I just want to make sure I do it right. 😳😬

It's actually a really good question, If your new iPhone already came with a new sim card installed already then just leave it in and then go ahead and transfer the data. Mine didn't come with any sim card because I purchased my iPhone at full price so I can choose what ever cell phone company I want, mine is considered sim free at this point after I received it in the mail because it came without a sim card installed. Most people purchase their phones through their cell phone provider because it's cheaper to have a contract where you pay for the phone monthly, in that case they usually send you your new phone with the sim card already installed. If I decided to use this iPhone then I would go get a new sim card from like ATT or Verizon or whoever I go with to install it into this iPhone myself or have them do it. I just bought this iPhone to use later, I already have another phone I'm currently using. You really don't even have to have a sim card installed to be able to do this video, you could also install the sim card after you do the data transfer.

If they gave you a sim card already in the new phone then they probably disabled the sim card that's in your old phone and the old one won't work anymore since they probably activated your new sim card in your new phone. I hope that's not confusing you.

Jamie Wagner..just wanted to give an update. I followed your steps and it worked 🙂I’m now using my new iPhone 📱 pro max 256gb. Everything transferred perfectly.

Can I choose what I want transfered, for example if I don’t want my photos transfered, but I do want everything else?

I don't think so but that would be awesome if it would let us select what we want right from this screen like if we could toggle on and off what we want transferred, that would be so awesome

you don't have to use icloud with this video

If you get four options at 3:13 instead of two options it means the phone you're transferring data to does not have ios 12.4 or newer. You have to set up the phone as a new iphone, update the ios, then erase all content and settings like he showed at 2:01. After that you can do the transfer. Thanks Jamie for the video!

Trying to do this from my 6s to xs max but it doesn’t give me the option to transfer from my old phone only iCloud, iTunes, or set up as new phone, the 6s has iOS 13.3.1 and Bluetooth and wifi are on, both phones fully charged and plugged in, any advice?

Colin Arseneau hey could u please tell me what was the mistake you made cause im having the same problem and i cant figure it out...both phones have ios 12.4 or newer, bluetooth and wifi are on, and they are both charging. Somehow the transfer data screen wont show up 😫

make sure you have them plugged in and close to each other and bluetooth and wifi turned on, that might help get it to pop up

Do the whatsapp messages transfer from the old to the new iPhone? Like I have one iPhone and after I do that the messages from the old will go to the new or??

Jose carlos Do a backup on WhatsApp then after u reinstall the App back on your new phone, everything should transfer.

Yes , i tried yesterday and all of my whatsapp messages went to the new phone and I hadn’t the backup because of iCloud memory.

Good video but there's one critical issue that was not mentioned: If you're new phone has lower GB storage capacity than your old phone... the transfer will not be able to copy all your data from your old phone over to your new phone!

Jamie Wagner - I actually repair phones for a living and unfortunately this happens quite often, when somone gets a newer phone with less GB's and asks me to to transfer every thing over. The good thing is, critical items like screen layouts, settings and Apps get priority and transfer just fine... while photos and/or music get slightly less priority and won't of course fully transfer due to non-matching storage capacities.

Mine doesn’t give the set up pop up message and both of my phones are on atleast iOS 13🙍🏾‍♀️

make sure they are close together and plug them in also so they are charging fully charged if you can, and turn on bluetooth If your current iPhone and new iPhone are both using iOS 12.4 it should work, since you have 13 it should work also reboot both phone also see if that helps
