Same. I see more and more dogs around off leash and out of control, and it's hard to blame the owners because they've worked with the only trainers and behaviourists available - the cookie throwers - and think they've done everything they could. In the meantime my reactive dog is in a permanent state of stress thanks to them.

Well if need a e collar to train your dog then you should never have had a dog from start... Got to understand how to train a dog from day 1 not when its to late and that dog gets a bad rumor bcs of idiot owner...

@@st1g718 that's all well and good but with all due respect, aren't you letting perfect be the enemy of better with that attitude? Sure, owners make mistakes during the early days and that isn't good enough - but Your approach risks leaving dogs anxious and reactive for the rest of their lives when owners have realised their mistakes and want to prevent a lifetime of anxiety and reactivity. Using the correct tools in the correct way late is better than never, surely? Ideally you should do it properly from day 1. But doing it a year late with different approaches is better than never if people aren't using ecollars inappropriately imo

I trained a 150 lbs saint Bernard, gsd, Akita (Ludo)with a very aggressive history. At 12yrs old I trained him to do sled dog work. Give them exercise and a purpose it helps build a relationship with them. Tools are important and the use is so important as well. Watching all your videos have motivated me to begin doing dog training. When I was younger I didn't see it as an option for a career. You've inspired me to take steps to being a more professional trainer.

I love how in this video you break down the "how" and "why" behind the approach. Your videos have totally changed my perspective on remote collars, for dogs. Also really like your motto of using obedience to manage undesirable behaviors. There's so much/too much debate over the use of correction, among dog trainers/owners. I'm not a big fan of excessive correction, and at the same time - is it really I mean really, less stressful for a dog to live in a constant state of fear/anxiety/confusion, vs being firmly but gently told "Hey, stop that. It's ok, I'll vouch for you"? Holding them accountable for their actions is just like showing them there's another exit from the highway. One where there's less traffic/obstacles they have to maneuver around, all by themselves.

Tom the e-collar has been a life saver for me. I rescued a 2 year old Black German Shepherd and now a year later at 89 lbs I would not have been able to control her if it had not been for the e-collar. She now listens when corrected even without the collar. Thank you for all your great videos and information and the love you have for the dogs.

That was excellent Tom! This is possibly the most important educational video you've produced. Very well done, everything in a nutshell. Clear, calmly spoken, non-dramatic, very reasonable and very accessible to people. I'd encourage anyone with a hard dog in conflict with any group, authority or organization to forward this particular video to that organization. Too many dogs being put down, and too many other pets being killed and bites on humans by dogs owned by people who do not feel comfortable taking responsibility. People with hard dogs shouldn't be put between a rock and a hard place.

Tom, you are the absolute best advocate for dogs and their safety! Shelters are full of aggressive dogs that were never told no, never corrected, and never trained and just do not know boundaries. As you say, “No Bad Dogs” but there are plenty of misguided owners. This video is also another testimony to know the breed, your abilities and your time constraints before you get that cute puppy and don’t do anything with it until it is too large for you to handle. In the end, it is always the dog that suffers and I love that you stress it is the literally dog’s life that is at stake. Thank you! There is NO ONE else putting out the content that you do (and for free, I might add) that has the potential to train, rehabilitate and save lives!

Mostly use the beep. He is super friendly, but having a high dog running at you can be scary. So the beep helps him calm it down, so he is more approachable. So thanks for educational video to help people understand that it's a tool and not harmful.

Hi Tom, I can't thank you enough for your videos and your common sense when it comes to dogs. My neighbour recently got himself a rescue dog, who is a two year old "Boxer / Queensland Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog Coss), The dog has had virtually no training in the past and has been a real handful for my neighbour to handle and spent all of his life on a long lead inside and outside of the house. My neighbour recently hurt his legs, so I volunteered to walk Charlie 4 days a week so he could get some exercise. Thanks to your videos I have been able to get Charlie to heel, sit , stay ,place, come, walk ahead of me in the bush without pulling, and pass through threshold behind me and wait for me to open doors. Charlie does this all on a lose slip leash. The only problem is Charlie is highly reactive to wildlife and is prone to suddenly pulling into his leash if something has recently passed through or suddenly flushes. He has pulled the other neighbour who walks Charlie over several times and got away from him ( he does not use a slip leash but a long lead and flat collar). I wish we could use an E collar or a Prong Collar in Australia, but they are both considered illegal. I know if I could use either, I could help Charlie more to curb his reactivity, so he could have more freedom. Charlie is very smart, extremely gentle, loving and willing to please he is just very strong, I would hate to see him sent back to the pound if I cannot teach my neighbour how to handle him. Bless you for your good advice, which has helped me to help Charlie so very much. Keep up the good fight, No Bad Dogs, Cheers, Muffy from OZ. (Australia)

Great video, as always! I have a GSD and have put in much work with my dog. I saw early signs of aggression when she was 10 months old. I immediately got my dog into training. Getting a dog requires commitment and consistency, especially with training. The owner of the Tibetan Mastiff needs to continue working with his dog. I don't want to judge him, but he needs to realize that his dog is a liability. I am very surprised his dog is alive after having a biting history. I'm glad he came to you Tom for help.

Excellent video - so happy those owners went to you and got the result they needed to help save their dogs lives and not forgetting also to help prevent the possible injury to others. I think I have mentioned before that I live in one of the countries where these form of training tools (along with prong collars) are being banned (although not currently completely banned in the state I live in, however their use is restricted). Like you said the people advocating for the banning of these tools have no experience of these tools being used correctly and/or only envisage the worst case scenario of either their use or that the animal requiring these tools are not candidates for any type of training - so easy to end the dog's life rather than do anything to revise the dog's outlook and behavioural responses. Thank you! 👍👍👍

Love your content! It’s helped me train my dog. She is a German Shepherd, Border Collie, Pitbull Mix. Extremely intelligent and athletic. She is still learning and a bit reactive but much better then has ever been. Thank you for your content.

I have a 6yo German shepherd and a 7mo pit/rottie/husky/beagle/retriever mix. The puppy is hard headed like a rottie, thinks it’s a lapdog, talks like a husky and bull headed when listening to instructions lol my German puts her in her place most times except on a leash. My puppy acts great but my German not so much. My German is also a runner if given the chance. Even tho she gets walks and exercise daily she loves to get out and run lose but we live near a busy street. I really want to get this collar to see if it helps

I LOVE your videos and training! I got a E Collar for my dog because she was so distracted on our walks and distracted by people and other dogs and it has helped sooooo much especially paying attention when I ask her to do something because treats were not enough. But I’m not embarrassed to use a E Collar it is the best tools around

Been watching your videos everyday for the past week and learned so much ! I have 4 hyper Frenchies, been walking them with slip leash now instead of harness and it’s night and day !!! I still have 2 of them pulling, thinking of getting a prong. My dream is for them to be able to stay calm inside the house. Big thanks for teaching us make our dogs the best they can be 😊

The right tool, more knowledge, and finding mitigation that works can save a life. Thank you all that you do.

Thanks for this video! I showed this to my roommate who owns a 1yr old intacked, Anatolian male who has taken to resource guarding and attacking me, biting me a few times. We've started E Collar training. It helps to see actual footage, I probably wouldn't rely on vibrate though myself, especially since no muzzle on this dog I've got at home.

Surprisingly enough I have used a lot of your techniques without having to touch the dogs that I have around me to stop there barking, both of them are German shepherds. They’re awesome animals love your video. These are the kind of clients that I run a crossed when I’m walking my dog in our nature park here. Most of them are older seniors, and they have these ginormous dogs that are struggling to control and they use the halters and they use harnesses and then wonder why they’re being dragged. I refer a lot of these people to yours your channel as homework to aid success for them and the animal.

Great video, very helpful. I'm working with a few clients that have corso and a german shepherd that are more powerful from them. All of them got the dog to protect them, but are concerned because they can't turn it off. We're working on obedience now and will overlay it with the eCollar. I completely agree with your logic, correction and disagreement of banning tools. Doing so will cause many dogs to be put down. Thank you for using your platform to save the lives of dogs!

Cannot believe you taking on such tough cases. The correct tools will help so much and your knowledge imparted to the owners is absolute gold. Stress is nothing compared to what could have been concerning the life of the dogs involved. E collars are an extremely useful tool. I would like to think, what if the people who want these collars banned had to be in a situation where their own lives depended on the use on an e collar?

It was so hard to find in Canada but I bought your e-collar and your course for it and it's so so helpful! I went to a busy campsite and had my dog on a harness but put on the e-collar as well. The line broke on his harness and thankfully I had the e-collar to call him off of another dog and have him come back to me. Thank you so much for what you do!❤
