    I've never read a book so fast! kzread.infoUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU Learning about his dogs and experiences was just the icing on the cake - bed this book through and through. We're working with our new pup and Brandon's advise was just what I needed. Wish he'd just come and train for me haha but it's good for us and happy to have this new set of tools to use on our pup.

    Recently got a GSD mix (more shepherd than whatever she is mixed with); she's a rescue pup who had been abused. I've spent the last few days getting her acclimated with me, the family, house, another fur baby (a 2 year old male Maltese) and the neighborhood walking. She seems to be fitting in well. I am going to (try) train her and myself and, Lord willing, have a "friend for life". Thank you for your videos!

    Mate absolutely LOVE this video. So much more informative than the standard Reels that most trainers are pushing out. It’s videos like this that benefit owners massively as it takes you on a journey of training a dog from zero to obedience. I’ve trained my GSD using various KZread videos from different sources but if I could have seen this from day 1 it would have made my life and training routine a lot easier. Massive respect and keep up the great work! Big love from UK

    @@AmericanStandardK9 Quick update. After working with her consistently for a couple of weeks and on and off since then she responds beautifully as long as she is being actively watched. Give her 2-3 minutes by her self and she is off roaming the neighborhood. She does come back after a few minutes when called in a full happy gallup, but still a concern. Also, she will chase deer no matter what. She returns after about 5 minutes but it does make for some scary moments, especially at night during her last go to bed potty out.

    Professional Ecollar training is a must for those issues. We have a master ecollar series coming out in a couple months through Fenrir Canine Training's website. Not sure if you can wait until then but it takes a few weeks minimum to program the dog how to respond to ecollar stim and achieve a reliable recall even if they're chasing a deer. Only the ecollar can get you a recall off a deer but again only if you know how to use it and train the dog how to respond to it appropriately

    @@germanshepherdlove4814 Thanks for watching. To clarify, they train to eat and/or eat to train. We call it "dinner and a show". They love it. It's fun, interactive, and social. Kids love to play with their food and so do dogs. Too expensive to use really high value food treats and get the amount of reps and sessions needed. It would probably cost $8 per lesson in treats or maybe more each lesson. Two lessons per day x 30 days would be $480 per dog per month if we fed them "treats" on top of the cost of about $60 per month for a bag of food. That's a car payment! Plus the dog would be fat because that would easily double their caloric intake. I use this example the other day when somebody asked. If you go 3 days without food a $2 peanut butter and jelly sandwich will taste like food from heaven. If I feed you 4 McDonald's cheeseburgers for lunch and an hour later offer you a $60 filet mignon cooked from the best restaurant, you might not even eat it or if you do it's not going to taste as good as that PBJ sandwich. Make sense? I do intermittent fasting myself and after 24-36 hours without eating everything tastes that much better!

    Howdy! I have a shepherd who is 6 months, male, and around 65 pounds. We are having issues when he's out in public, around other dogs, or anything exciting. When he's calm he's a perfect dog, but when he's excited he won't listen to any stimulation. His main issues are loss of focus when excited, incredible pulling on the leash when excited, mouthing, and jumping. His bites are hard and leave scratches and ripped skin, but never blood. He has not been neutered yet. Do we just keep training him every day? Thanks!

  • @AmericanStandardK9

    You need a competent balanced trainer to fix those issues. Many of those issues will not ever be fixed with treats. Leash and prong collar with proper introduction and utilization will solve all of that. Not the tool by itself but the tool in conjunction with proper training and application.

  • @AmericanStandardK9

    @AmericanStandardK9

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@dae6148 I recommend to never take any dog to any dog park ever. Infested with diseases. Unpredictable dogs. Unpredictable irresponsable owners. Even if 99% of dogs and owners are behaved (which is a big stretch) what happens when one bad dog starts a nasty fight. It only takes seconds for one dog to maul another dog. A dog could easily lose it's eye, get shredded or even killed. Especially if and when a 1 on 1 dog fight turn into a pack attack. Nobody is going to be able to break that fight up. Dogs get mauled or killed in dog parks all the time. What if your dog just gets bullied one time by another aggressive dog, especially at a young age. That single incident can turn what would have been a nice dog into a super reactive dog. It learned very quickly that it's eat or be eaten. I associate dog parks in two ways. They're just like a prison recreation yard. The guards are there watching and for the most part everyone's on their best behavior... That is until someone bumps into the wrong person and boom a fight breaks out and inevitably someone gets shanked. The other example is to imagine a bunch of 4-6 year olds running around the playground except all of them are armed with box cutters and they know how to use them. Someone hogging the slide or not sharing the ball.... 🔪 We wouldn't trust our 5 year olds to run around with knives we shouldn't trust 5-20 half trained (at best) animals not to want to kill each other every once in a while. Finally, I want my dogs to know that I'm their pack and we have fun together. They don't need the company of other dogs because I provide more than enough entertainment. Sure, socialization is very important. However, I will never socialize my dog amongst a pack of off-leash fired up untrained animals. There are other more responsible ways. I will allow my dogs to run off-leash with 1 or 2 well trained and well socialized dogs who I know will not exhibit unacceptable behavior and even if they start to play too rough or I see something I don't like I jump in immediately and any potential trouble dog will have e-collar or long line hooked up so issues can be dealt with swiftly and severely. Dog parks are not worth the potential benefit of fun and exercise in comparison to the devastation that can be wrought. Don't believe me. Go to a real busy dog park 20+ dogs. I guarantee you will not make it 5 minutes without one dog bullying another, snapping, growling, humping, dominating, biting or attacking another. That's my two cents. Take it or leave it

    What the matter with using ecollars ? Personally I don't think there's anything cruel about giving your child a tap on the hand when they misbehave or do something that's going to endanger thier life or the lives of others so why not use the same mode of correction when training your dog? I love animals & especially dogs having grown up with a German shepherd who was super protective great with kids & loyal to the death.

    Why would you have a shock collar and a E collar on a young dog like this. I'm not against it but I would use these because it's rubbish on such a young dog. If he's trained by a professional dog trainer who knows what they are doing then why? I get it for a problem dog that needs a sharper or a more direct approach but how old is this dog and how experienced are you and you do this with such a, blank canvas to work with. I think some dog trainer should be ashamed of there selves because as soon as a gadget is the thing you all get lazy and it's a shame when there are dog trainer's who are better than this and so should you be.

    Vincent I'm going to try to educate you and give you the benefit of the doubt that you are truly asking a question to which you are prepared to receive an answer and not just phrasing heavy criticism in the form of a question. This is not going to be answered in one quick reply. We're going to make this a nice long back and forth discussion to illustrate for you and everyone else the answer to all of your questions. To start with I would like to ask you a few questions so we can frame the conversation. At what age in your opinion do you think a dog should start wearing and receiving stimulation from an e-collar and why? For what behaviors should the e-collar be used and why? How many weeks of training do you think it takes to properly teach a dog how to properly respond to e-collar stimulation? I asked you this one because you refer to e collar training as being lazy training for some odd reason. And I'm not trying to be difficult or evasive in the slightest but I will say this. I wholeheartedly believe you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and that's fine because I'm going to educate you right now if you're prepared to listen and learn. I think you are making enormous assumptions from a platform of not knowing. But again I'm going to help you out so you can understand. In other words I'm going to convert you right here and now in front of everyone. However, that task will be impossible if you like many many many other people will not open up to the possibility of learning something new and instead resort to firmly planting themselves in the positive only training corner and refusing to listen to anything anyone has to say. The last question I'm going to ask you is if at any point in this video or any other video with this dog or the dozens and dozens of other dogs that they look like they are hurt and abused in any form or fashion? And, by the way I've used e-collars on dogs as young as 2 to 3 months old. Let me know if you want to continue this conversation and depending upon if you're open to it we might even make it a Skype call or some other virtual platform and we can actually have an open and honest discussion and dialogue where I will record it and put it on my channel. You bring up some great questions all of which I have excellent answers for. Let me know how you would like to proceed
