How to TRAIN for Disc Golf. - Standstill Tutorial Part 4 - The final chapter.

Спорт

With this last video I feel like it's time to put this tutorial to bed. In this series I wanted to give newer or stuck players the resources that have helped me accelerated my growth. This one goes over all of the extras that I get questions on all of the time, and hopefully motivates some of you to get after it and catch me on the course throwing your own bombs. Thanks everyone for tuning in to this series. Catch you in the discord!

Great video, Clint! I've been loving your work. I am a student under Owen and even though you two approach this in different ways, they're actually very complimentary methods.

Biggest take away from this for me was eat more. Got it. Seriously though thanks for discussing training, it rarely gets talked about.

Lots of great advice. Something everyone should really remember is to not fall back to old form routine. Really great point. Think about it. In ball golf for instance. How many people have you not heard who go to the driving range, hit 50 great shots, and then everything is garbage on the course. Don't go to the course, you will ruine your progress. If I have gone to the course, I have gone with a mindset only to practice my shots. So, I would only throw on the course with the drill I'm working on at the moment. However tempting it is to do an x step and rip it. Don't. You will regress. And not even doing that is advised in my opinion. Great point there and very important I think. And also. Once you find something you are doing right, continue doing it for a while before you try to add the next thing. You could destroy what you found. Hammer the new thing in first. Critical. When I first got to 400 I just wanted to go to 500 immediately. I ended losing my 400+ and it took me weeks to find it again. It's devastating. My 2 cents. 😊

Agree on all points. If you are a VERY athletic person you can get away with form changes quickly, but most people have to drill and iron it in!

@@BlitzDG I think you need to pass a certain threshold before you speed up the form changes. When you start from scratch there are so many new things for the body in even the simplest drill. Now I feel I can do experimentation faster. It's just too much information for the body the first months. Something that feels like a simple cue in the begin and just a simple thought, is actually a ton of moving parts that the body has figured out for you. You might trick your body that you were not happy with that sequence. Maybe hug yourself when you do something right. 🤣

@@AxisDiscPowers Yeah I recently worked with a VERY experienced higher rated player and he was able to implement things instantly while keeping his speed the same. It was impressive.

A great way to get your hands on a tech disc is to buy one with a few friends. Thats what i did and it works out pretty well. I get it for a few days, figure out what certain feels are actually doing then pass it on and repeat.

Totally, they are super easy to share. You don't need one ALL the time, and I wouldn't even recommend using one every single session. Too easy to chase numbers.

Does distance come mostly from strength, or from form?

It's a combination of course. In my opinion it's about finding a form that uses your strengths.
