I have found that contrary to popular beliefs, Shibas are actually highly trainable. The problem is people usually take the traditional ways of training a dog and apply it to Shibas, which they may resist. Shibas require a different approach and this videos hits some of the important things spot on. My Shiba responds to praises and excitement much better than a food/treat reward

I know I’m a bit late (two months) but I’m looking to get one as a service dog. I’m seeing people work with them and I’ve met a few and they aren’t the untrainable dog most people see them as. The first step is understanding what a dog wants and it’s behavior. Now that I’ve seen this comment it makes more sense. But then again I’ve trained a few dogs for basic obedience and one service dog so maybe I could see that vs first time dog owners.

Thank you for the playlist!! I've been watching your videos since before we adopted our puppy, but now she's been with us for a month. We still work every day on training the cat to get used to her lol. I'm glad you made this video because for me, it can be difficult at times to stay consistent. Where I live, it is too hot outside to walk our shiba during the day, so we've had to exercise in the house. Thanks to your videos and references, we hope to keep our shiba happy and healthy for a long time ❤️ thank you to owners and Jimmy!!
💞 luv'd the tips! Happy baby boy!!!
Jimmy is beautiful, you have done a wonderful job with him, he makes eye contact on a regular basis and is attentive to you, well done and thank you

I’ve had him for almost 3 weeks now (he will be 10 weeks tomorrow). It’s very fun but also challenging, he likes to bite on a lot, understandable since he’s teething. I got him plenty of toys which I rotate to keep him interested. Get ready to not get a full nights sleep the first couple weeks. Today he slept all through the night! 🎉🙌 From 10pm-7am when my alarm went off. Normally he would be my alarm at around 4-5am. He gets a surge of energy every night and I make sure to play with him to tire him out before I put him in the crate. He has cried and barked a lot in the beginning when being in the crate but I think he learned that he won’t be paid attention if he continues so the crying/barking reduced. I’m taking him to a local “dog school” on the weekends to help him socialize with other people and dogs. I love him so much! It’s worth all the work ☺️

Also surprisingly he only had one potty accident at home, the first night when we got him. I take him out several times throughout the day so he learned pretty quickly. Shiba’s are so smart! They’re brains are like sponges! Congrats on getting your little Shiba soon and enjoy! ☺️

I've never owned a dog before, but I really love challenges. My neighbor had an elderly dog, and he and everyone who watched the dog for him said he had an issue with humping, but after I worked with him for a couple of days, he stopped completely. I was able to teach an older, very stubborn dog to heel perfectly in three days while her owner was away. She told me that her dog was liable to run away, but after working with her dog and teaching her the command "leave it," and "stay close," and praising her when she did well, even if I didn't give her a command, I saw so much improvement that I asked for permission to take her on car rides to parks, which I was allowed to do. She needed a little more reinforcement and another consistent training on no digging, but she did excellent, even after I took her to the park with a large group of people. I couldn't be consistent, though, because her owner consistently spoiled her. By the second time I watched her, she had moved so far back that I had to stop because I didn't want to confuse her, although she knows that whenever I'm watching her, begging at the table doesn't work, so she leaves me alone while I'm eating unless she wants to be let out. One thing that helped a lot, and was very adorable, was that her owner is the type of person who constantly talks to her dog ALL THE TIME, so her dog had a surprisingly large vocabulary of words and sentences she understood, and would voluntarily approach me, look me in the eyes and make little high pitched squeaks and squeals, which was her way of talking and asking for things.
Getting a Shiba on Saturday. I am a bit nervous but I am more excited than anything! With these tips I think I can more understand how to train this breed!

Tysm for the advice I’m getting a Shiba Inu called “garol” he’s 9 weeks old and I’m getting him probably today or tommorow
Cant wait I’m getting Shiba for my birthday
I got my Shiba boy on Friday he is so smart! Pretty much potty trained and sleeps all night in his crate! He will be 9 weeks this Saturday. I started to do reward based training his 3rd day with us and he pays attention when he sees i have a treat then the next day he forgets the command. We’ve only worked on him learning his name, sit, & paw. Next is teaching him to not pull on the leash & staying on one side of me during walks any advice? 😬
@SuperShiba
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaliyah, congrats for the new puppy! Yes they are very intelligent if they want to 😆 For the leash training the only thing we have been doing is to stop whenever he pulls. When he pulls, you stop and tell him no and only continue to move when he follows you. It is very hard to train puppy to not pull on you or bite leash. Jimmy sometimes still bite leash and pull if he gets too excited. Good luck and enjoy the journey!
My 9 month pup is half shiba and I’m having a hard time training her since the people in my household don’t listen to me. The biggest issue we are having is the stubbornness. My pup is so intelligent but is equally as stubborn and it’s worse at night because she gets bored so easily and wants to chase the first thing she sees which is my 5 yr old cat who dislikes dogs. I’m gonna try applying your tips and tricks and hope that it helps.

Hi, I’ve watched many of your videos they are great! I was hoping you could provide some advice, we have a 10 week old Shiba Puppy, and he’s starting to nip at our legs. In the video you mention turning your back on him to end activity / not play, when we do this he continues to nip at our shows / pants. Do you have any tips for us to try and curb this behaviour?
@SuperShiba
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Corey, You are not alone in this situation. When you turn your back on him if he still bites your leg you can create a yepping sound or OUCH like it hurts. That should send your dog a signal that his biting is hurting you. If he gets really bad send him for timeout for 1-2 minutes until he calms down then resume play. There is a video talks about all the discipline methos with examples of when to use what that should be helpful - kzread.info/dash/bejne/eGx616qDgcu3p7A.html Good luck and know that this is just a phase. With consistency and patience, he will get better slowly but surely!
What kind of grass do you have in your yard?
I have a question concerning time out Im planing to get a Shiba, and in case of time out, after a couple of times (let's say the bathroom) he will learn that going to the bathroom means time out, and if the dog starts to resist going there, how do I do it without physically pulling the dog? (Does picking up, pulling the dog to time out count as abuse)
jimmy is so cute i like him i subscribed your channel
So we got a rescue from a local corgi rescue but I'm extremely convinced it's a Shiba/German Shepard mix 🤔 curious how this is gonna go lmfao. She's a sweet adorable little dog though, I see a lot of intelligence in her as well

What kind of treats do you recommend
@SuperShiba
3 жыл бұрын
Hi! There are so many options out there when it comes to treat. You can try out some household food/fruits like cucumber, carrots, blueberries, strawberries, cheese, egg yolk, peanut butter, yogurt just to name a few. If you are picking treats from a pet shop choose the ones with single ingredient or less filling ingredients. I am listing some treats we currently or used to use with Jimmy below. 1. Beef liver treats (training treats)- amzn.to/3soXYuw 2. Chicken jerky(cut to small pieces for training) - amzn.to/3mXN2mx 3. Beef hide(great for chewing, not training treat) - amzn.to/3gkZVpn
He so cute
I put my shibe in a small room sort of its like a little fence for it. I put him in when the does something bad

Do you give jimmy salt or sweet popcorn?
@SuperShiba
3 жыл бұрын
For the most part dog should not have any seasoned human food. The popcorn we give Jimmy only has sunflower and sea salt as seasoning so it is lightly salty. If you are opt to give your dog human food try something natural like cheese, fruits or vegetables👍

Training is more about retention than anything else . All dogs can be instructed to react to specific requests but not all dogs will retain their " training " . so are they really trained or just obeying commands in order to get something THEY want , not what the human wants . if you are a control freak then there are certain breeds that should be avoided . the Shiba Inu is one of those breeds . sometimes " training goes to far and the dogs spirit is broken . I live just down the street from a dog obedience school . the classes often walk past my house or in a large meadow nearby . the dogs are not allowed to play or run , only heel and follow every command . the dogs look depressed and lifeless .
actually inu means dog so by saying shiba inu dog, it means shiba dog dog haha

LADIES and GENTLEMEN Last year in October 2020, Shiba was sitting on ten zeros 000000000076. This year in October, Shiba is sitting on only 4 zeros 000026. This has happened within a year. Do you need God to come down to tell you my daughter, my son invest in Shiba because you're about to become a millionaire? No, it's clear. Next year October by this time, the 4 zeros you see will be a thing of the past. If mathematics is needed in Shiba, why within a year 6 zeros have disappeared? If you don't become rich with Shiba, your ancestors will be laughing at you because they didn't have this opportunity. There's always Judas Iscariot in every good opportunity. Don't listen to negative comments from the enemies of progress. Thanks you. Long Live Shiba. Long Live us all.🙏
