How to tighten the nut on a replacement Monroe OE Spectrum Strut
Here's a video showing how to tighten the top nut on a Monroe OE Spectrum Strut purchased at most chain auto parts stores. I purchased this on at O'Reilly Auto Parts. We couldn't find a tool to tighten the nut, so we notched a cheap 7/8" (22mm) with a side grinder to create room to secure the top of the piston, we ended up using a 9mm open end wrench to hold while tightening. It's a hack, but it works well - this repair was done on a 2004 Subaru Forester.

So how about 2 open end wrenches and not messing up a Socket?

The top mount might be above the nut, so the wrench can't even touch the nut. Some mount only has room for socket. Some tool company sells the tool he created about $15-20.

Pittsburgh tools makes a pass thru socket that u can get at harbor freight. Learned that today

That’s cool, we looked for something like this, but couldn’t find it... so we made it.
Just saw a video on using crows foot with torque wrench 🔧 as well

That’s a great idea. This was recessed a bit too far for us, but I bet that might work too.
How tight does it need to be??

Sorry, I am a bad youtuber! I put the socket in the vise and cut out the slot using a 4.5” side grinder with a thin cutting wheel.
So you're tightening the strut nut because?

Because the strut has a nut that secures it to the plate that’s separate from the strut shaft.
Use a ring speaker, not a socket. Crap idea.
