How to Tie the Humungous-Minnow, Leech or Something Else?
Ойын-сауық
The Humungous is an English-based pattern that works equally well here in North America as it does in the U.K.
Although those most often tied with either a silver or gold Krystal Tinsel Chenille body, you can tie the Humungous in other colors, such as white and olive. No matter the color, stillwater trout love this fly.
If you ever have the chance to fish Henry's Lake in Idaho, be sure to have a few Humungous stashed in your fly box.

Without the eyes reminds me a bit of Jay Fair's wiggle tail only a godzilla version size. Phil you keep us rolling for sure!

Hi Steve, it does share a resemblance. My Pitching Leech was inspired by Jay’s approach to stillwater flies. Cheers, Phil
Nice work. Thankyou.
Another great video Phil. Thanks For sharing. Basically a Bugger with oversized proportions. I can see where it got its name. I will give it a go!

Hi, thanks for taking the time to place a comment. I have been following Dave's channel for many years now. He has some great flies. I tried to stay true to his history of the pattern and its materials as best I could. Thanks, Phil
Very nice video! With the bead chain eyes, will this fly ride hook up?……. Thank you Phil and Happy New Year 👍🎣🎉
Deadly pattern, definitely worth a space in anyone’s fly box. Think the original had a cree body hackle rather than grizzle, but doubt it makes any difference. Great vid, keep ‘em coming👍🏻

Thanks Gary. It might have been a grizzly variant too. I have seen some English versions with a cree coloured grizzly hackle. Cree is so hard to get I am not sure using it on a streamer like this would be wise. 😃 Cheers, Phil
I like the action of a long marabou tail, but often end up getting "short strikes." Would the addition of eyes encourage the fish to bite the head of the fly?

Hi, it is possible. Takes to this fly have been solid for me. Cheers, Phil

@@PhilRowleyFlyFishing Thanks. I'll tie some up and give them a try
what size bead chain would you recommend for this size hook?

You can vary the bead chain as you like. I used medium for this particular pattern. I have used small as well for some smaller versions too. Cheers, Phil
