It will slip with Braid but yes. I’m 45 and I grew up on this know for everything

Ive been fishing for 20 years. This is a simple fast knot that is the main one i use.

This is the only knot you need. Pretty sure there aren't any others anyway. Been tying this knot since i was 12. Almost 50 now and this knot never fails. I do leave about a 1/16" more tag on mine but still.

I do this all the time and I find it works the best out of all the other knots I do

It’s a great knot if you do it correctly. After you tie I’d always check to make sure everything looks right or it will easily untie or snap. Works about 99% of the time tho

It’s my favorite know as well. It’s Its also the only knot I know.

Same here for braid. For mono sometimes I still use the improved clinch knot if the eye on the hook is so small I can’t get the doubled up line through it easily to tie a palomar.

@@JuranAdventuresJust thread it through the eye once then double back through it and you’ll have your loop. Way easier than trying to shove the loop through the eye on a tiny hook. Palomar on top💪

i don’t like it as much because to the amount of tag end it produces, it will eat up my leader in about 3 ties

​@@spungyfishing have you tried using snap swivels? Unless you're changing weights on a texas rig frequently I find it to be way more convenient than tying a new knot every time, Palomar or otherwise.

This is exactly the only knot I use and know but it works like a beast

My grandad uses this knot all the time it’s quite literally the only knot he knows

Been using it for the last 15 years for everything from muskie to iddy bitty perch and it don't let me down

It slips with braid. Excellent for mono/fluoro

Best knot for mono. I have prolly done 1000 of those knots and never a failure.

i double the line round at the start, its a beast of a knot that holds and doesnt have that horrid V finish to collect weed

Spinning the lure is also the best way to hook yourself.

What I’ve done personally to improve the already improved clinch knot is that instead of looping the main line once through the eye of the hook/bait I loop it twice and it still works the same but I have extra insurance on my knot

I just use a regular ass clinch knot… never had the knot be the failure for anything

My dad taught me this not when I was younger and still the only knot I use

I was at a lake with family very young and met this catfisher man who showed me this (i have no dad) still use till this day! although I dont use this knot for frogs.

I've used this knot for many years. Good knot for mono and flouro but not for braid. I've had this knot pull out several times losing fish. Switched to a palamar for braid and it's a stronger knot that won't pull out. But I still use the improved clinch knot on my mono or flouro.

If you twist it 9-11 times and leave a little bit longer tag end when you trim it back it’s fine. Haven’t lost a fish yet due to a failed knot.

But aren’t those Boo Yah popping frogs the best!? The aqua frog color is my favorite! Caught my PB on it during Covid.

Not a good knot for braid , used this knot with ten pound Trilene xl for years in my youth ,worked fairly well , gave it up entirely for uni , Palomar , better they are!

@@danielkinn782 you know what I meant. The knot works just as good with braid. I don't know what braid u use or how well you tie your knots but I never had any issues with both braid and mono.

I know how to tie a knot. For ME there is only 1 knot for braid. Palomar knot. But you do you Booboo.

Ive never had a problem using this knot for braid...

and if gramps hooked a donkey that knot slipped because improved clinch stinks for braid. Double palomar all day.
