Sorta odd I see this now. Growing up I always used them, never really got much till I switched. Could have been another factor to ofcouse but it’s something that Will always be in my mind

I alternate. In a place where i know i am going to have to try a bunch of lures to see whats working: swivel. If I’m in a spot that i know what they like: tied to my lure.

What if you slip a small size cork over the swivel when using those diving baits. Has anyone experimented with cork.

Wait, real question here? 🙋🏻‍♂️ Do you not use a leader line/ barrel swivel? Just straight to the main braided line? I feel like fish would see my bright orange braided line and not bite.

Line wears down around the knot. Skipping re ties and adding the extra point of failure will lose you fish. I was a snap swivel only user 10 years ago but lost some big fish when they broke. Never using again.

We use wire leaders all the time (that end in swivels) because we have tons of toothy fish here. I only tie directly on for panfish

Just a snap, never a swivel unless you have a lure that puts twist in your line.

They are cheaper on temu. About $75 ~ $1.50. You also get turtle, mouse and spider options that are basically the same type of top lure. But the spiders are more expensive.

After all these videos showing what lures and baits they recommend, here are the 3 I am trying this weekend: 1. Texas Rig with a Speed Craw 2. Fluke 3. Senko (not sure on the spelling) Will I catch my first bass ever? 😅

It really depends on where you’re fishing and what you want to catch. With a swivel the older fish won’t bite as much but the younger fish will, and in pressured areas you will catch less fish on a swivel. With no swivel your presentation will look more natural and you will catch more fish. Using a swivel can also somewhat limit the techniques you can use.

Just buy swivel trebles instead, they may cost more but they will never rip or Frey like braid.
