Necktie History. The necktie originated from a silk scarf worn by Croatian soldiers - it became known as the cravate.

I've always wanted to help my husband tie his tie. Call me old fashioned I've always thought it was a sweet thing for a wife to do. However here I was at 30 and still never tied a tie. I watched the trinity knot video and VOILA! My first tie looked amazing. You make it so easy to understand. Thank you!

We saw Cyrano at Portland Center Stage in Portland, Oregon. The play was great and I got tons of compliments on the tie.

Myself and kids all had go at this and followed your video with no trouble! The boy has his year 12 formal in a week and he loves this one so thanks!

Patrick Novotny Agreed! Some of these thing techniques I learned in Boy Scouts as a kid. So nice that you give us a refresher. I recently interviewed for a job in Jacksonville, FL. I used the Eldredge following your example. I was given an offer of $65K/yr. They commented on the whole attire and pointed out the tie. Not saying that this was the deciding factor, but I'm positive it help. I salute you, sir.

Hi, Just wanted to let you know that SyFy's series 'The Magicians' has featured several of these knots on the show. The Dean at Brakebill's is often seen wearing something like a tulip knot, and another character favours this trinity knot. I thought it was pretty cool to see that!

Peter Kiss Thank you Peter. I found that if you tie with a thin fabric tie it just looks too small. I would stick to regular ties, but if it feels too thin your knot might end up just being too small.

Ridau din I wouldn't recommend the new personality style knots such as the trinity, eldredge knot, etc. because it is a serious interview and there is a time and place for wearing such knots. I would recommend going with with a windsor knot aka full windsor knot aka double windsor knot, or if you are comfortable showing some personality in your neck wear then I would go with a bow tie. If you have one I trust it will go over very well, but it must be self tied or don't bother. Did you know Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein regularly wore bow ties? Go with the bow tie.

Patrick Novotny I agree with Ridau din. Great advice unless your up taking chances and standing out from your competition, but make sure you know your audience in-case they are too conservative.

Necktie trivia: According to an old "The People's Almanac", an American man spends four hours a year tying his necktie.

Used this on a dark blue shirt, with a silver-grey tie, at a marriage just yesterday. It was really good looking, and it's incredibly simple for a guy like me, that is not used to wear a suite and a tie. (Considering that the groom and the guests were majorly gamers, also a Zelda Triforce knot would have been more than appropriate^^). Is Trinity knot appropriate to a graduation discussion or a job interview, or should I go with something even more modest? (I actually like the Trinity because it is kind of modest: it's original, it has a very nice "rotational simmetry" but it's not big, garish and intricated).

Yo Patrick, I've enjoyed watching your videos and have used a couple for weddings this year. I saw the trinity at another this year and im giving it a go tomorrow for wedding reception. What would you recommend for pocket square? Am I being a bit particular? My tie is burgundy but the (matching) pocket square is chequered pattern, so I'm not sure how it's going to work together. Last time I did a tulip knot but the tie and square fabric were Paisley so it went well together. I'm clearly over thinking! But the trend of trying knots other than the standard Windsor is new to me this year!

I loved using the trinity knot for my first time wearing my blues in afjrotc
