FINALLY - I've waited seven YEARS to be taught HOW to use my legs in the shotput. All the videos SAY that the power comes from the legs but they don't EXPLAIN and SHOW EXACTLY how to achieve it. I'm 76 and like to compete in the NY Senior Games. But, for the past seven years I've made no progress in throwing the shot or discus in spite of increases in my weightlifting workouts. Reminds me of a boxer. It doesn't matter how strong or how big your muscles are if you don't know how to throw a punch with proper technique and snap then you won't be able to KO your opponent. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the step by step breakdown and demonstration. I can't wait to get outdoors or in front of a mirror and start working on my (your) technique.

@STBRetired1

@@Timmy-GrandCross The Senior Games were cancelled for a year or two because of COVID. But that gave me time to relax and "feel" my body and my right shoulder was in constant aching pain. I'd never noticed that before. I think my mind to do better was stronger than what my body (shoulder joint) could stand. So I've stopped with the shotput and discus and now do a more balanced exercise program of light weights and gymnastics. A high bar is a great device for showing you where your weaknesses are. I used to be able to do pullovers and skin the cats so easily - 60 years ago. Now to get a good workout for pullups, I need to add some assistance with my legs. When I think of how fast gains came when I was 20 compared to how long it takes to get any gains at 79. It's disheartening but continuing to workout is better than not working out at all. The sooner I stop working out the sooner I have to face the Lord for Judgement. Might be better to put that off for as long as I can.

This is a very good video, how I wish that I had watched this when I was still playing 13-17 yrs ago. I'll be practicing these drills soon cause I still want to improve on this sport even after years on non competition. Oh, and by the way, I like your shirt, is there an online shop for that? Thanks.
Thanks really good explanation.
Doha2019 men's shot put was really crazy! It might be the no.1 shot put game in all time history! 22.91, 22.90, 22.71, 22.56, 22.53, 22.35 in a single game!

How many times a week would you do a session with the punch-out, half throw and full throw?
Hey John were did you get those wrist wraps?
I have a shotput match in 6 days but I don't know if I'm gonna make it and poorly throwing at some distance more like 3m but actually wanna improve my skill my school is really hoping on me. I wish this works for me.
thanks for teaching, he knows how there are sports in the school district
Do you think glide or spin is better? I’ve noticed it’s harder for the glide to be done right consistently. As with spin it’s harder to learn.
Thank u very much sir
Nice man
