Tony, when I think of lead uppercut KOs, I think George Foreman on Gerry Cooney. 2nd Round. What an uppercut, and he finishes with an overhand right.

Thank you Tony, the set up for the lead uppercut is the same as a lead hook to the body, I could have fun with that in sparring because I do use the lead hook to the body often. I'm going to play with that lead uppercut and lead hook next sparring session. I also seen your video of the lead hook with out the setup too. I could mix and match that in as well. Thank you for this video, I'm always looking for ideas to work on in training/sparring. God bless you and yours bro

Glad to know i picked the right youtube channel to begin my attempt to learn and as much as humanely possible master mma boxing all forms of combat sport just because i think i can and wanna see if thats just me having an overinflated ego or maybe just maybe i might have something special within that can allow me to do the feats of strength and power that combat sports professionals do on a daily basis and act like its a normal tuseday👍i wonder how many people also have the same idea as they watch your content perhaps one day ill fight them in one sphere of combat sports or another who knows thatd be fun 👊🤷‍♂️💯

Hello sir I started watching your videos before I was in the boxing gym and it helped me a lot so I wanted to tell and ask you that is it enough or should I do more than my training so, that's what I usually do 45 minutes of running on the first day of the week (Sat) by the end of the week I run 1 hour after that I do some stretching and exercise around 12-16 mints then 4 rounds of shadow boxing each round is 4-7 mints long (based on the day of the week. for example on sat I do 4 mints and on Thursday 8 or sometimes 7 mints) first round is just to work on my 1 2, left jab and right hand then the second round is 4 punch including hooks uppercuts straights 4 punches combination, etc. In the third round, it's footwork like almost everything defensive, ducking, head movement. everything and the last round is short around 1 or 1 and a half mint this one is for speeding up constantly throwing punches and then bag so, I like to ask you do I have to increase anything more in this and can you plz tell me anything more that I or anyone can do in shadow boxing.

I throw it differently. I throw what I call the "WHUPPER CUT"! It's like a whip that's going upwards instead of downwards, and has the same impact as an upper cut. Some sketchy combat sport taught it to me, and it works HELLA great in boxing :D

I don't think you should be using any hip torque - it's all in the hip FADE (which is effectively what you seem to be doing via use of that initial slip). But I'd personally describe it as a kind of 'reverse slip'; and can be thrown straight off-the-bat.

Hi Tony I am beginner and interested in the Martial arts and I know getting punched is something must but I want to avoid it as much as possible or at least I want to avoid getting brain damaged as much as possible. Because I know how valuable is the brain is so what is your suggestion as a beginner like me getting his feet in the striking world.

  • @juliansanderson839

If you don't want to risk brain damage, develop your defensive awareness. First, train your balance and footwork. keep an athletic stance -- feet at least shoulder distance apart. Learn how to move in any direction at anytime WHILE keeping your balance. the better your balance is, the more defensive options you will have. Practice your movements until you are able to stay completely balanced with your eyes closed, literally. take it as far as you can, and then take it even further than that. Learn as many types of defense as you can. Head movement. catching punches. forearm blocks. elbow blocks. shoulder blocks. parries. etc etc. understand that each has it's own advantages and disadvantages. Train your awareness. Try to figure out what strike the opponent is going to throw from their body movement. the subtlest of movements can telegraph their intent. look up feints, and see how they can disrupt your timing. one of the easier ways to train this is by having a willing party swing pool noodles at you -- there's minimal risk of damage period. Don't just have them swing wildly at you. Have them attack you with purpose, with consistency. look up online the different punches you can replicate with the punches. start slow, work in patterns. increase the pace until you are just barely able to defend the shots. Take this as far as you can, and then take it even further than that. Even if you are the weakest person on earth, by the time you do that you should have a high enough level defense and high enough confidence to full contact spar with minimal damage. being able to spar at full intensity and be able to walk away from it nigh unhurt is the ultimate goal -- or at least the benchmark for an effective defense. And remember to mix it up once in a while. training while bored or unmotivated has reduced results. training should be new, and fresh, and fun almost every time.
