Being a small winner in Hold'em, is actually a big winner since a good Hold'em player can expect to win 2bb/100 to 5bb/100 hands online. A great one can win 6bb/100 to 9bb/100. And a god can expect to win +10bb/100hands.

Great videos Johnathan. Question: If you're going to bluff on the turn in the video above with ace high and KJ and KT based on your range, why would you fold JJ and TT? The odds of hitting a ace on the river are only slightly better than hitting a J or T on the river but at least you are betting with second highest pair.

Cool video. I play recreationally and seldomly. I feel pretty good about my game but definitely needs work. I was in vegas last week and played a $75 tourney with 38 entrants. It got down to 4 of us and the guys wanted to chop. I was good with it, we each collected 432 bucks. But sometimes I enter a game and immediately feel outgunned and play super tight until the blinds get so big that I make desperation moves. Other times I'm very confident. I guess it's hit or miss with me.

You missed your calling, you should definitely be a public speaker. Very few people have the ability to speak so effectively and efficiently. I could listen to you on a multitude of topics.

great video but i'm still struggling as i just can't seem to wrap my head around these range videos preflop,flop, post etc without giving me an example/scenario of what hand i've been dealt at that specific time 😢...for example what hand are you implying we have throughout the ranges in this video or did i miss something at the start?

Something that I'm currently struggling with is how to avoid losing too much money in those situations where the hand doesn't go my way. Using your example, you may have JJ and lose to AK, but you are in bad shape if you lose so much to AK that you can't recoup those other times when you do win. I'm trying to do better to figure out what range my opponent's would continue with, but I'm not there yet. Thoughts?

Jonathan if you can make another video of ranges preflop and maybe incorporate the equity you need to call with. I'm struggling with this because I think that I know everything and that my strategy is the best but if that was true i wouldn't be at the low stakes. thanks in advance

It seems that putting someone on and being put on ranges is a strategy dependant upon your opponents having a working knowledge of this same strategy ( i.e your range is x so your opponent should do y or your opponents range is A so I should do B). How am I at an advantage playing range theory when my opponents are basing their decisions on reads , position play,tells , and other old school ways of determining what to do on a particular spot?...Jim Gilks I have bought and read mastering small stakes poker strategy and struggle with the volume of memorization required concerning what to do with each range relative to you and your opponents stack size , your opponents relative aggressiveness, position,payouts and the other determinants mentioned in the book. Any advise?

Most opponents are not concerned with your strategy, and if they are, it means they are playing close to a GTO strategy. Simply play a fundamentally sound strategy and then adjust if it makes sense.

What are your hole cards in the turn scenario? Why do you label the community cards as dead cards? It is rather confusing.

so is a HUD some kind of feature when you play online that displays this range table and you plug in your cards and it spits out what you should do?

Your preflop range included Q8s and 86s, but on the turn, when the dead cards are Q 8 6 2, both of those are gone from the range. Why? Just a mistake?

That's true. Same for such hands as JJ to 99, which do not appear on the chart at the turn... And these hands have become marginal hands... So there are definitely quite a number of marginal hands and not 0% !!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Even if most of my opponent's range at 2nl is literally everything 😉

In that case we adapt accordingly, their range can still be massively narrowed post flop and wide ranges by default will miss most flops.

On the chart at 5:18 why is A2s a Draw(bet) but A6s and A8s aren't? I guess what he is saying is that if you have A2s you can bet with bottom pair top kicker and hope to hit an Ace for two pair or another 2, but why doesn't the same logic apply to A6s and A8s when there are also a 6 and an 8 on the board? Because an 8 or 6 are probably the best hand, and are likely to stay the best hand.

Ranges would only matter in an intermediate setting right? As in with other people who know about ranges too. This wouldnt apply to beginners like lets say a family game at a holiday party where they've never heard of ranges but they know how to play general poker and will play anything good from any position as long as they can get by at a comfy price.

So if we treat our junk like draws here, then it works out that 50% of our bets are premiums and 50% are draws/junk - so if our opponent knew this, he could easily call with his marginal hands profitably, assuming turn bet is not a big overbet. Correct?

In that case does it make sense to play a lot simpler, i.e. base my decisions on their range and my cards, rather than their range vs. my range. And then I guess reserve this strategy for players I can label as regulars?

Why is AQs a premium hand yet AKs is coloured as a fold? Is this because there was no point filling it in because it's so obvious?

This is a postflop analysis. So on the board [Qs-8h-6d-2c] AK is not a premium hand, but AQ is.

I dont get how youre supposed to do all this, calculate pot odds, value bets, count outs and work out range when the timer on a game online is about 40 seconds

some is simple math.Like devide your bet into the pot,for pot odds, if a pot has eight in it. that's 4 to1 impied odds is about getting a players stack if his stack isn't that big drawing to an inside straight or backdoor flush isn't worth it needing over 23 to 1 odds some is notes on hands you see them play.some is memerizing %

Well add a sub to the channel. I love poker and want to up my game since I still consider myself a novice.
