Which glasses to you have? In the second clip you showed with the hard plastic glasses?

The plastic ones I have, I can’t see anything, but the plastic reflects my eyes, so I can see black AND my face at the same time

How long before damage occurs?

That is, looking through a lens at the sun will instantly damage your eyes. Don't let even the partially eclipsed sun shine into your eyes at all. And of course never look at the full sun any time.

@@earthsky then why is the world encouraged to buy glasses, some that may not work due to fraud, to look at it? Given how paranoid were 5 years old were going to catch COVID and die I find the encouragement to live dangerously bizarre. Why are we not staying inside and closing the shades during the affected hours? My first partial eclipse I was between 5 and 7 and I remember my mom putting great fear in me and being worried I would look up wrong. I’m 51 and feel the same way.

@kristinesharp6286 looking at the eclipse through a camera lens will damage your eyes instantly. If you look directly at it without special glasses, it can take several minutes before the damage is apparent. There is no need to panic and no need to close all the curtains and blinds in your house. It's just like any other day. You don't usually go about your day staring directly at the sun. Just go about your day as usual, also not staring at the sun. The eclipse isn't something to fear. It's a natural phenomenon that occurs fairly often. It just isn't always visible in the US. All that aside, if you want to see it, wear the special eclipse glasses.

Also, the whole point of this video is to teach you how to spot fake glasses... for your own eye safety, not encourage you to "live dangerously". It's pretty much the exact opposite.

@@queenshalon it’s impossible to stare into the sun. The protection that makes it impossible to stare into the sun is gone during the eclipse. It only takes a second to cause damage and you don’t feel it until later and there is no remedy. It only takes a second to realize an eclipse is occurring. The video is saying even it says they are official glass they may not be. It comes off as a warning to me. I do not think any evil thing will be unleashed or bad luck is in store. My kids school is being let out early yet during the phenomenon. We are partial not full. I hate we are traveling and we have to make sure kids don’t look up.
