Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Watch a step by step guide on how to test your blood glucose levels. In order to perform a blood glucose test you will require your blood glucose meter, a test strip to hand, a lancing device and a monitoring diary to record the results of your blood glucose test.
Diabetes.co.uk's Benedict Jephcote runs through how to test your blood sugar. In this video, Benedict is using a OneTouch meter and test strips.

    Thank you for this video! This helped me learn how to test and teach me the tools on what I need to buy to to do it with. When I got GD my doctor gave me prescription for a meter and test strips only which I only got the meter approved and she didn't tell me I needed more items to test or explain anything really. I ended up having my son before I bought everything and the told me I didn't have diabetes when I got released from the hospital, but am having symptoms of my blood sugar still being off. I have to buy a new meter cause the test strips alone for the meter insurance gave me are $80 for 50 on top of other stuff I have to buy. I am now buying the cheaper one at Walmart and the other stuff I need. So thank you for this!

    For anyone who was having the same problem as me. I kept not getting a reading so I poked myself about 7 times. I realize my error was that I was putting the blood on top of the testing strip (the gold part) where it actually needs to be on the side of the paper because then the blood goes between the papery layers and gets tested.

    It is best after pricking your finger to get a clean blood sample, is to wipe away the 1st bead of blood 🩸 and raise a 2nd bead of blood and wipe clean once more. Use the 3rd bead of blood for your test. You can often see a variation sometimes dropping 30 points or more in the last blood bead sample.

    @AnabolicMutant not all areas in your body are highly vascular. for adults, the side of the finger is chosen because it is highly vascular and contains less nerve endings. for babies, the heel of the foot is chosen. also, the side of the finger is less sensitive to pain while the tip of the finger has a dense nerve supply. the puncture site always matters because any alteration can affect the results.

  • @hanmaenen7337

    @hanmaenen7337

    6 жыл бұрын

    I prick my finger with the same lancing device as seen here, a Microlet 2. You could just use the lancet, but I advise strongly against doing so as it hurts almost like a wasp sting because the fingers are loaded with nerves and are very sensitive. Lancing devices reduce pain to a slight sting, sometimes you feel just a tap. Before the lancing device came in, fingers were pricked with a miniature knife and that was really vicious. Really, use a lancing device! As an experiment I once stuck my finger with a lancet, my nurse did so once on her own finger. Her finger throbbed for 30 minutes afterwards! She would never, ever use a loose lancet for finger pricking, she is a sweet person anyway.

    There is no quick cure like this other commenter. There is a group on Facebook called type 2 diabetics lchf in the picture and description (it means low carb high fat). There is a ton of info on what to do to get control of your diabetes to where you can stop meds and manage with diet alone. There are groups similar in name so make sure you join the one that is lchf! The other support things that can raise your bs numbers. There are two sister groups one is for support and one for recipes. There is a while chart for compatible foods you can buy that won't mess with your bs. Good luck.

    I don't mean to sound ignorant or anything, but you guys measure your blood glucose levels in number.number? I'm used to "100" popping up on my screen when my blood glucose is 100. Is there a certain setting on the meter to do that or something?

    Where do you put the blood? Top of the strip? Front of the strip? First time user. I've used eight strips, but only gotten two successful readings.

    Where there’s a red tip color, and if it doesn’t read properly meaning the strip is not push enough to do the readings, just sharing my experience as I’m also new with this gadget,,,,
