How to test LEDs using a cheap digital multimeter (Cylindrical, SMD LED)
Ғылым және технология
- Rotate the multimeter's dial to DIODE
- Put the multimeter's leads in contact with the LED's leads
- If the LED lights up then it good, if it doesn't then reverse the multimeter's leads
- If the LED still doesn't light up then it might be bad/damaged

Best vid on this, you show it's not "bad" to connect opposite leads, and you showed that it should work on any of the contacts! Thanks for the great video!
Excellent explanation. You made it so simple to understand and even taught me something I didn't know about the legs lighting up different parts of the led.
Very surprised that you did not mention that LED's have a "Flat Side" which typically always indicates that side is Neg...
Wow, simple and right on the spot explanation. Nice one 👍
Thanks for sharing. Simple, quick and helpful video.
It's important to note that some multimeters don't put out enough voltage to drive an LED, depending on an LED's forward voltage. So not lighting up isn't always an indicator of a bad LED.

so then what do you do?
Wow. Great Macro and night filming work!
Very good and simple way of explaining things.god bless
really clear. Thanks for taking the time to do the video.
Hello. Thanks for your videos. I have a question I’m replacing the original T10 on my dashboard 67 Ford. On the circuit board with the old bulb installed I get a sound on my multimeter but when I installed the new led bulb it doesn’t make any sound on the multimeter. I checked the led bulb like you show on the video and get the bulb to light up. I jus want to make sure they work before I install the dashboard back. Thanks for your help.
Finally, somone that has a brain to show easy to test led's, thank you SIR, my led is ok
Thanks. So good explanation.Because you explained clearly, Could you please make other video about how to check every electronic component with multimeter and repair of dvd recorders and other equipment? Kind regards 👍🌹🌹🌹🌸🌸☺️
Very helpful and understandable..Thank you..👋👋
Such a great video, so informative and understandable.. well done ! and thank you..
Really helpful. Thanks!
Hi very useful informative video...thanks.
What about in situations where they are connected so that if one goes out none of them will power up? Im trying to find the bad LED so i can replace it or route around it.
hellol im commenting regarding the video reagarding the batch move from subfolders using total commander it's my problem too but the only difference is that, instead of files, i need to move the FOLDERS inside those subfolders. total commander bypasses that and go straight to the files, so cant move the folders inside the subfolders. what do i do?

I think it won't work with folders... Tell this issue to the author of Total Commander (support@ghisler.com) maybe it will be added.
Great video! 👍
Good video 👍
Excellent very well explained thanks
Using a DMM, forward voltage on led reads about 2.4v, but when reversing the leads,on anode and cathode meter reads 0.7V. Is that normal? Most videos say OL when reversed?
Dec 2023. I am really looking for how to check an LED standard light bulb that is in standard overhead light fixture. But thanks for how to do micro-mini-LEDs.
Thanks. Really helpful
Great video thanks.
It really help me! Thanks a lot!
Why doesnt the continuity buzzer go off for the good led? The led showing shows continuity but no buzz?

Buzzer buzzes when probes connected via small resistance("short circuit"), but LEDs for multimeter looks like capacitor(it's not really, of course), thus no short circuit or buzz.
thanks.
Thank you.
What kind of battery the multimeter has inside? Mine doesn't light them up !

This model usually has a 9V battery.
Not working on all expensive DMM's! I tried 2 nice DMM's and only one of them would give a faint glow. better than nothing i guess.
That's trippy
Ah perfect thank you
3:58 I don't understand, why the multimeter always shows 1?? Also, some times it shows ohms? And some times just 0,why?

Because its stating that the resistance is NONE or more or less very low

And your battery level is different. On a fresh battery it should read 000. As your battery level lowers from being used you'll pick up a one maybe even a two before your meter blank's out
A cheap way to test ( any ) LED is to use a 9 Volt block battery with a 680 Ω resistor in one of the connector leads , this will light any good LED safely ! FYI , you need to attend to your BLACK multimeter lead as it is about to break at the meter plug end , snip the lead , slide over correct heatshrink , resolder and shrink the sleeve ! ! ..........
