Not Power Probe. PP is for electrical work only, not electronics. Well, DTCs are many and change from year to year.

When I replace the fan control module with an OEM used module does the new one need to be programed? 2006 Audi A4 Conv 1.8T FWD.

You didn't test this control circuit. Also, what level of PWM voltage does the ECM deliver to the fan control module? 5 VDC or 12 VDC? Also, since the manufacturer does not specify the voltage and detailed operation, does the ECM actually deliver the PWM control voltage to the fan control module or does the fan control module deliver a Vref to the ECM and the ECM toggles the voltage on off ground to create the digital PWM signal? Wow, I love those questions. You are a smart man. Such a video would require an electronics course as well, which I already have here on this channel ADPTraining. Now, almost all these units toggle between 0.00 and 5.00 volts. No, the fan module has no idea of how much to ground the ECM, if it worked like you said. So the entire signal is processed at the ECM. What I didn't explained is that the module looks at either the ground side or the 5 volt side. So which side is the ECM looking at? That would require more testing. VW used a strange thinking. They put LOGIC inside these boxes. They do that with a bunch of others relays too. Like the fuel pump relay that also has a crank sensor input to sense when engine is turning.
