Thanks lots of good information. Is there any chance that you could do that again with a fuel pump that actually works? The reason I ask is because it would be great to see how quickly it engages in how fast it pumps. Kind of like this is how it's supposed to work and then compare it to the one where it doesn't work. Hi, I have no start problem, since I changed fuel filter. Checked voltage at fuel pump on key on and then start position on multi meter, and it is 12.26amp. So this means no bad fuel pump fuse or relays .when connect to fuel pump and switch on, pump doesn’t make any noise at all. I removed a hose pipe and test with another pipe. When I turn on key , fuel starts coming out. I checked resistance on fuel pump which is around 1.2 or 1. What do you think is it the fuel pump bad because it is not making noise , means not producing full pressure? Please help. Thanks.

Will the hurt a new pump if it is used to test it prior to installation?

I'm hoping this test eliminates the fuel pump on my Yamaha YN50 F Neos 50cc scooter. It has a non adjustable type of carburetor and it's running off an EFI unit. Unfortunately after multiple attempts at kick starting and ignition switch starting, the engine did not run.

A hv test my mitshubish colt fuel pump with battery and fuel in bucket is work but when I put it vechile is not work why it met problem

I have a submersed fuel pump on my Yamaha, outside the tank the pump sits and will run just fine with a 12v battery direct connected. if placed back in and submersed in gas. its unreliable. never stays running if it starts. and often the pump wont even turn on for an initial prime. I switched the relay so far and im deciding whether to replace the pump. would a bad insulation be a cause for a voltage drop when submersed??

Most likely a fault wire in you yamaha

So the power Probe black ground must be connected to the neg/ground of the connector, so it can work? Always

On a 2002 l300 Saturn 3.0 v6 no fuel pressure at rail fueses are good swapped fuel relay and main relay separately no effect. No security tell tale I believe there was a code for intake air temp sensor or mass air flow sensor pretty much ECT will register 40* on a 40* ambient temp day however IAT WILL REGISTER 80* A WHOLE 40 * DIFFERENCE WOULD YOU SAY WITH A REASONABLE DEGREE OF CERTAINTY THAT COULD CAUSE A NO START NO FUEL ? TESTED MAIN AND FUEL RELAYS WITH SNAP ON SCANNER BOTH CAN BE HEARD CLICKING ON UPON REQUESTING

Can you do this with the fuel pump still installed on a motorcycle?

So you can bridge the pump wires submerged with water, wouldn't that be like putting a screwdriver across the 2 terminal's, , does that work with AC Power or only DC power,

I w done this but with a 12 volt battery and the electric fuel pump motor is making a whirring noise like it’s working but no fuel coming out..

Shane Conley I took it apart and the carbon brushes are good but the carbon flat commutator disk is no good..

I bypassed the fuel pump relay & check the fuel pump wire has no voltage, so what's next to be check asd relay

Can't you just test continuity between the two wires without putting live electricity through the fuel pump

That’s where I’m at. I test continuity from the two wires and got nothing so I didn’t even try to power it with a probe.

how do you figure 3 minutes to check the fuelpump? you left out the hour or so taking the fuel pump out of the vehicle. What a misleading title.

Seems like theres an electrical resistance somewhere in the pump, causing the voltage to drop below operational levels
