What I learned from this video is counterfeit Raybans are so well made, executed and packaged, its hard even for an expert to tell them apart from the genuine product. If it wasn’t pointed out to me, I wouldn’t know. And does anyone really care?

I bought a second pair online and they sent me a fake one but almost all the points for validation are correct (except the engraved RB letters in the nosepads and the Rayban signature in the left glass, which is a slightly less quality in the copy but only noticeable and only noticeable with a macro photo). Now only my concern is about the uv protection so I will take both pairs to an optical business for testing (just for curiosity because I'm gonna send back the fake ones).

I would have liked to see more product(the actual sunglasses) rather than a booklet, but overall you did a great job and thank you so much for the information. It really helps.

Actually the real ray bans case is not leather. It is a faux material

Sorry but you can't just say one of them are fake because of minor differences in the packaging and the color of the lens Luxotica changes all features seasonally. You can could be comparing a last seasons model on the assembly line to a freshly stocked one....Just sayin....

I agree with you to an extent. I forgot myself that they changed details seasonally, but there are small indicators that will tell you if they're real or not, such as the position of the logo on the lens, and, for particular models only, the placement of the logo on the over all sunglasses. Such as with aviators. The logo is never on the outside of the arm with each arm, but is on the inside of the left arm just like with all models dating back to, and correct me if I'm wrong, ever since Ray Ban has existed.

Another indicator that they're real is the weight of the overall sunglasses. All models, except for cheap models that cost about $80, are going to have some weight to them. And yes, they do make models that are that cheap, I just don't know what the 1 or 2 models are, and they don't make them anymore I think. I still completely agree, though.

I work for Luxottica, it's hard for the untrained eye to spot the fake. Fakes generally have poor machining on the frame, low quality screws, low quality pad arms, visibly blurred logos on the lenses and the glass lenses are plate glass as opposed to hardened glass

You’re right about low quality fakes. Easy even for an untrained person to spot the difference. Becomes harder with high quality fakes made to exacting standards. When the replica is as good as the original, quality assurance is more difficult to enforce. Its an endless war to outwit those bent upon discrediting brand integrity.

you should also take a look at the internal of the glasses' temples (metallic part in this case) where the size and other information is engraved

this should be called hey look at the differences in these two boxes. Or "hey someone who is really ignorant about sunglasses made a video. "

its just about the lense quality.. if you buy a cheaper or fake one... unfortunately you will cause retina issues if you wear them as u should (in sunlight etc).. (experienced it on my own)

You went into great detail about the box and almost nothing about the actual glasses that are the most important thing. You're not wearing the box on your face, so who cares if the glasses are in a garbage bag or a nice silver box. Details about the box are not always going to reveal the authenticity of the glasses inside. Some places are different from others so they might try to cut costs by getting cheaper packaging for the glasses, especially if they are coming from China or some European countries. It's probably not a good sign if the box doesn't look legit but not always the most important indication of counterfeit shades.

The real and fake are actually all the same! Just comes down to the different quality of the glasses. All made by the same source. I was even told that all the parts are manufactured in China, however they are assembled in Italy hence "made in Italy".

Hi, you can replace the lenses on the fake ones. You can search up "Replacement lenses for 3025 Ray-Ban" or whatever model you want to replace, and you can find many websites that sell them, such as Amazon and Ebay. Hope this helps you out:)

Telling me something is fake because the packaging slightly darker or more vivid in places doesn't help unless I'm comparing two items. About the only thing that helped in this video is the SN sticker on the side. White border vs .. some type of color I guess.

You are so smart about Ray Bans. Your favorite pair (The Clubmaster) was discontinued in about 1997 and brought back about 2008. They are really ugly!

The 3025 needs to weigh 31 grams For eye size 58 the most common size. The tolerance can be + or - 2 grams. Counterfeits will be 40plus grams for the 58 eye. This is first sign you look for. Countries that make counterfeit sunglasses are very poor metalergy experts and it shows in the final weight.

Quite shocked you don't get even get a proper hard case to protect them with. May just opt for the fake if I can't protect them properly.

I own a real pair and the case does have very good protection as it is designed to hold the glasses perfectly they don’t move or bounce around atall

I received my Ray ban sunglasses it had engraved RB on it. I thought it was a joke. I don't it looks professional. I think the company should have done a Hologram logo on the side of glasses frame instead. It made me upset not sure return it or not.

Ray-bans round metal are the (easier) answer to spot if you have a real or fake one, because round (3447 model) are meticulously designed with a *VERY* very very specific shape, and also it's EXTREMELY IMPOSSIBLE to fake or clone it. In other words, Fake 3447 round metal does not exist by the way, aviators and wayfarers are the target :(

The RB laser mark is in front or behind the left lens? I have this doubt and Ray Ban Official Site does not explain this.

I'd choose authentic because I care about the quality of the hinges, craftsmanship, and materials.. pay the high price once and u won't have to keep replacing it. Same concept as re-craftable shoes and boots.

I bought a ray ban and its box number is same as the fake ones😀 I will give it back.

In my opinion. For the fakes cost. Its good to have a pair to use when u dont want to ruin or use your real ones. Hell why not i dont see anything wrong with buying anything fake as long as its good quality.

Ray Ban 3025 is very cheap why do people buy fake one?

It is easy to mix real and fake ray bans. And i am guessing even shops does not sell originals. China does a very great job nowadays. I ordered fake gucci sunglasses for only £3 and if it would be in the box i would say it is original.

In the booklet they spelled scientific wrong

Why should we buy real one though....

These fakes are so good it makes me think they're made by the same factory.

Agreed. The geniuses at Luxottica like to congratulate themselves on etching RB into the glass as a security measure but no worry; the counterfeiters will follow suit and then it will be really be FUBAR. As for your comment, I think the same factory producing the genuine Raybans also make the counterfeit version. How are people to know and several years ago, I agree the difference in presentation and quality was obvious. No longer true today.

Zaatina do you realize the real ray ban once costed $40 and were sold at gas stations, the only reason they cost hundreds now is because an italian company bought the brand and inflated the price and made them upscale? the quality is the same as back then, it probably costs them $30 to make a pair and they sell them at $150. You can wear the fakes and in real life nobody would even care or notice

I had some of the old ones and the rivets eventually got loose probably because they werent using the best steel. And,how much would $40 in 1990 be today? My guess is about $100 depending on where you live. So when you factor in the skyrocketing stock price of luxotica in the past 5 years. $100- $150 for a pair of RB Wayfarers is about right
