Most of the non-polarized Pit Vipers have the lens extending out the sides. (All polarized ones do not have the extending sides) The lens is significantly thinner on the polarized ones.

What is the difference in the quality of the lens?

You know, I am left quite impressed with the clone's unrelenting quest to create an accurate simulacrum of the real thing.... Still bough the real thing, don't exactly feel like supporting a copyright claim, can't wait for them to get here!

I have like 6 pair of real Pit Vipers and I do work with them daily in landscaping. They are tough glasses, but will scratch easily just like anything else so always store them in their “limp cloth”. Also I was cleaning my Leonardo’s with water and a regular towel and it caused the film on the outside of the lens to start coming off in chunks. They sent me a new pair thankfully, but said to only clean with a microfiber towel and that water can sometimes cause issues with the lens. So, word to the wise.

The fakes are very poor quality. The teeth for the Turbo adjustment will become marred very quickly if played with and therefore will be very loose. The real ones are much better quality and hold up significantly well. Plus if you buy directly from Pit Viper, you will be able to get them replaced for free if they break. Also keep in mind that as of 2020 the real ones have the upgraded rubber earpieces which feel a lot better!

Bought fake ones since I didn't feel like shelling out 80-100 bucks. I usually drop or scratch nice glasses and the fakes I don't really have to care about. Might buy legit ones now tho since the quality seems so much better.

i’m so mad. i bought from the fake site and didn’t even notice till the chinese writing telling me i ordered. then it would not let me cancel and give me my money back. and the bank could not either. so i’m glad that you can’t tell a big difference. but the next time i get more money i’ll know to not get the fake ones

ur telling me i just bought fake pit vipers and didn’t know... that makes me so upset. just ordered the real ones(made sure the website was correct) and asking for a refund for the fakes. they didn’t even send the ones i asked for. if i hadn’t gotten the wrong order i never would have noticed they’re fakes

I did the same thing and immediately asked for a refund and they didn’t respond until the label was created. They said they shipped already. When I got them the were terrible so I asked for a refund and they keep trying to convince me to keep them and keep offering discounts instead.

FAKES ARE POOR QUALITY. MATERIAL IS DIFFERENT. REAL ONES ARE MUCH BETTER QUALITY AND HOLD UP MUCH LONGER. UPDATED VIDEO MAY BE COMING SOON

Kinda weird - I just bought some from an authorised retailer in Australia and the box is exactly like the fake ones in this video, but the actual sunnies are exactly like the real ones in the video, even with the mold injection ear piece updates mentioned in the comments on the 2020+ models... Hope they're the real ones.

Sounds like the Originals (now called Single Wides). Rather than the Double Wides.

Another thing to note is that all the recently restocked Originals and Double Wides will now include Co-Injected ear pieces which will have a TPR Rubber on them (Similar to the 2000's ear pieces). This change is higher quality and it feels better on your ears!

What's the lens quality like when comparing the real and fake ones? The fakes are probably made out of some cheaper material.

The lens quality on the ones I compared seemed about the same. The thickness is the same and both sqeak a little when you flex the frame. They are both made in China, so it's hard to say if there are any differences in material.

What was the website URL you ordered from? The LEGIT website is pitvipersunglasses.com. There are lots of scam websites out there that copy Pit Viper's and sell fakes.

The glasses them selves look pretty damn similar I can’t lie

SIMILAR, BUT DIFFERENT. PIT VIPER HAS ACTUALLY MADE A FEW CHANGES OVER THE LAST YEAR, SO NOW IT'S EASIER TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE.

The box for the fake ones is the same as the box for the regular sized pits

Nope, the box for the FAKE ones in this video are the same size as the Double Wide box. The people who make the fake ones used the same text from "The Originals", but used the size dimensions from the "Double Wides". There are also fake ones out there that have the extending sides - they aren't polarized but claim to have Z87 safety rating. I believe these ones are the same size as "The Originals".

It only says 1.5 in the double wides not on the standard sized ones

Correct. The "Double Wides" say 1.5 however the "Originals" say 1. In the video the glasses are actually both the "Double Wide" size. The plastic boxes are the same size and both pairs of glasses are the same size. The people who make the fake ones used the same text from the "Originals", but used the dimensions from the "Double Wides" (box and glasses).
