I’m a wine geek. My dad was an plant geneticist, research and production farming, so the science is fascinating, but it’s the people, history and art that hooked me in. Life long learning for sure.

This is like taking a great wine class, for free. It explained so many questions that I had before. Thank you so much - and look forward to more to come. (Invite Patrick Farrell for a session, you did one for him!)

Very clear, thanks. Perhaps sharing your knowledge in a video about quality assessment? Balance, intensity, complexity etc. Maybe in relation with pricelevel.

Finally understood primary (the grape), secondary (how the wine is stored) and tertiary (wine aging in the bottle). Also, learned how to properly taste wines looking at the wine (sight), aroma (smell), taste and touch. Thanks for sharing.

Jonathan, I’m glad to hear it was helpful. One minor point, secondary is not so much about storage, but rather about how the wine was made. Oak aging, malolactic fermentation, etc.

Thanks again. That was the first long format video. A bit unnerving putting that out there. Before too long, I’ll do another with more detail.

Very clearly explained ...thank you ! Tried it with Langhe Nebbiolo 2019 Beautiful colour light with tinge orange at rim. Gorgeous aroma and super taste and wow the 14% alcohol touched a lot lol soft but noticeable tannins. Will come back to review your video again - thanks again :-)

Mary, thank you for the kind words. Sounds like both you and I are Nebbiolo fans. There's plenty more long format videos coming, the next on Thursday.

As always great input from you. I really liked how you pointed out that too much of sucking air in can actually influence the tasting experience negatively because it took me some good bottles until I noticed that somehow this method is pretty much counterproductive😅

That was my first YT video, about six months ago. I was thinking about making an updated version and deleting the original. And too much of the air thing is counterproductive, especially with tannic wines. The tannins tend to coat the palate and deaden the senses. Or at least that’s my point of view.

@@bobpaulinskimasterofwine yeah I always jump through your videos based on the topic that interests me the most and I had already watched various other videos before that one :). My suggestion would be to simply name it as an update as us viewers mostly also enjoy to be able to reconstruct the development of a channel. And by the way, I haven’t seen anything in regard to food and wine pairing (especially covering wines that tend to be difficult solo). Also cheers pairing with wine tends to be challenging. If that’s something you wanna tackle in the future, I am pretty sure it would be greatly appreciated :)

Do you have a recommendation as to where I can buy a learning kit so I can understand the different aromas. Also, I subscribed:)

I’ve not used an aroma kit, but I recall a former MW student that swore by one called Le Nez du Vin. I found it on Amazon, it’s pricey. Thanks for subscribing, much appreciated.

@@bobpaulinskimasterofwine if you don't mind me asking, how did you learn to pick up all those aromas? I looked at the aroma kit and one of them was listed as "horse sweat". I have no idea what that smells like, lol and a few others. Just trying to educate myself in this new passion of mine.

@@jcleer1 FYI, I’ve never picked up horse sweat in amy wine. I was fortunate, at 18, I worked in a nice wine shop stocking shelves. There, I had the chance to start tasting wine. I was taught the classics (Bordeaux, Tuscany, etc). It helped me to form a solid reference base. There was lots of repetition, that helped to identify aromas more consistently.
