I often share my collection of whisky with friends and family when I'm home from working on the road. A good adage I've found, from the Whisky Tribe, is "The best whisky, is whisky you like. And the best way to have whisky is the way you like it."

I love single malt scotch, especially the more peaty, smoky scotches from the Isla region of Scotland. My favorite is Lagavulin 16. For the more sherry styled scotch, my go to is Glenfiddich 15 Solera. Great video.

When I lived in Kentucky, I fell in love with bourbon and got to tour Woodford Reserve distillery. Highly recommended for bourbon enthusiasts and connoisseurs. And if you like a richer, buttery flavor, go for double-oaked. Woodford is pricey, but the flavor complexity is incredible. Knob Creek is another premium brand, though it isn’t as expensive. The diversity of flavors is also very good.

Firstly, thank you for inspiring me to start a Whisky club in Japan. Incidently, it was mentioned in this video that Whiskey, with an E can be from Japan, Ireland or the US. I currently live in the north of Japan and it appears that Nikka's label is written as ‘Whisky’. I’m guessing this is due to the founder’s background being that of someone who studied Whisky making in Scotland.

It took me 4 years to find out I loved Speyside and Islay (such as Dalwhinnie, Glenlivet, Laphroaig and Ardbeg), especially those distilled in bourbon barrels, but detested Isle (Ledaig, Talisker) and most blends, especially Johnnie Walker. However, I'm glad to say some exceptions exist; for example, Monkey Shoulder, and my personal favourite, VAT 69 always have a place in my cabinet. However, I still go with bourbon, if I have the chance for it. My favourite distillery will always be 4 Roses, but also Evan Williams, Basil Hayden and Benchmark no. 8 will be great in my book.

My understanding of the Whiskey/whisky thing is that Irish distillers added the "e" at some point because they wanted to distinguish their product from scotch. Now it's generally dependent on which tradition is more prevalent in the countries whiskey culture although not a hard rule.

Great! I am a big whisky lover and just resently stumbled accross your dressing videos. Great explanations on the whisky topic! Realy like the idea of giving a dress code to an invitation for whiysky tasting next time. It might spice it up a little. I really like the double breasted outfit but from my (limited) point of view, I'd go with dark brown or oxblood leather shoes. There is enough texture in the suite so I would not prefere suede shoes personally. All the best!

Did many tastings (without the box). You did a perfect and short summary on how to taste correct. Only thing I was missing is that the most expensive whisky or whiskey is not necessarly the best one but rather the most rare one (there are many very rare ones that do not compensate for the high price). With wine for example you mostly get high quality with high price... The suit though.... I dont know... looks freaky (sorry :) )

Scotch, Canadian, Japanese use whisky. American, Irish use whiskey. Although there are always rule breakers( looking at you George Dickel). As a rule, anything that follows the SWA guidelines to make their whisky will use that spelling. Like Swedish, Dutch and the one English single malt I've come across.
