I would love to hear WAY MORE about what he has to say. I respect his passion, and 100% agree with his dislike of the overabundance of IPA, and just want to know more.

It looks like you cut a bunch of info about at least 2 or 3 other beers (ales, maybe?) can you maybe do a 'cutting room floor" video, with some of the info left out of this? Keep the "production" level minimal, and pass it on. :) KTHXBYE

i agree, just even upload the raw footage to a 2nd channel or something to keep this one nice and clean. I'd eat that stuff uuuuuup. Or in this case chug it :)
This was a lot less intimidating than eating bugs.

I gravitate towards coffee stouts, Russian Imperial Stouts, and Hefes. I wish you guys would have shown more than three styles of beer :(
Extended cut, please! I see two other beers on the table at the end that weren't discussed. This guy is incredibly interesting!
So I kickstarted Craig to go drinkin' beer? What a deal ;-)
Great video, would love to interview this guy for our channel! Glad he distinguished tasting beer and evaluating beer. You gotta just put them away sometimes!

this old guy seems so cool. id love to hang out with him drinking exotic beers lol
Here for this. Beer deserves as much respect as wine...and we should have as many market choices in beer as in wine. I wish something OTHER than American lager and ipa were widely available

Oh come to Europe. Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, we have lovely breweries around here.
We need a part 2 on dark beer! Stouts and such. Those are my favourites! Except Newcastle, that's my absolute favourite. (Can't stand IPA btw)

Hi Miss Sery. We have an IPA in Britain which I think would surprise you! Made in Cornwall (I live near Newquay) 'Proper Job IPA' is a bottle conditioned ale with a lovely, rounded character. We have many more, though I drink a range of beers (not lagers) which I could recommend. All The Best. Steve. x.
The production quality that you guys brink to the table here is much appreciated. A LOT of other beer reviewers pale in comparison. Their videos are just not full-bodied. Would love to see more, or even have this turn into a series...
Welcome back Good Stuff!!
I've been looking forward to this Good Stuff since the teaser on Craig's channel.
I like very hoppy beers but only when the focus is on hop aroma and taste, NOT on bittering. There are some IPA's and APA's like that and they are absolutely delicious but most of them are a bitter mess, tons of hops but all of the taste and aroma are boiled away and what is left is bittering that wreaks havoc on your palate. Also, AFAIK, originally IPA's were highly hopped to make sure they stay fresh for long time (hop works as a preservative) when shipped overseas to India and beyond, but hop taste also fades and mildens over time so what the beer was at the end of the shipping destination is no longer the same bitter mess as it was when made. So I think IPA fans are kinda missing the point when they drink young and fresh super bitter IPA's. But if you like bitter IPA's that is fine. Everybody has different taste.
As a person who really likes beers, I really loved this episode :)
Westbrook Mexican Cake - best beer ever. I love craft beer and I could listen to this guy talk forever!
I really enjoy listening to the guest
It's good to have y'all back! :) A bunch of my friends are really into craft beer and I can't stand most of what I've tasted. It took me a while to realise that I just didn't like Pale Ales.
Finally a video that shows off Craig's real skills!
You guys always find different and interesting things to show us.
i'm from Belgium, It's awsome. thanks guys
Happy this show is back! Keep it up! :-)
What a bad ass. Great interview guys!
Thumbs up for using Two Hearted Ale!
my favorite beer was an IPA but now i'm thinking i need to expand my horizons even more!
you guys always get very interesting interviewees
I'm a Beer Bro (and a Patreon supporter of The Good Stuff) and I approve of this video.
Great episode. Love beer. My favorite is Newcastle.
Yay! The Good Stuff is back! While I like wheat beers, I think my favorites are stouts and porters.
I like IPAs, a lot, but my favourite type of beer has to be Red Ale. Red Ale reminds me of stout in it's silky texture but has gorgeous fruity tones that I find difficult to get in other beers.
I'm a big fan of stouts and porters, myself. Especially the stuff put out by Tadcaster in the UK. But when I'm in the mood for something light, I invariable return to Stella Artois.
Very glad to see The Good Stuff back! I'm not big on beer, but if I get the urge while I'm out with friends, at least I'll have a better understanding of what I'm looking for. The only beer I've ever liked is Guinness. But I haven't had it in ages because I always feel full, even if I haven't eaten in days, so it's impossible to drink.
Loved the episode. I'm only just getting into Beer myself having not been a fan of it for a few years. My favourite at the moment would probably be Carlton Draught, which is a very popular beer here in Australia. But I do intend to try a lot more beers in the future and expand my knowledge of beers passed main stream ;)
Brit here, recently got the chance to travel around Europe with some like minded friends, Budvar is definitely a favourite after that, along with some pilsners, and of course German Helles is pretty great
Brilliant, thank you. I enjoy helles most of all.
You mean.... How to evaluate beer, we all taste beers loved the intro haha. Also agreed, malt is the soul of beers, Bell's Two Hearted is such a solid beer, always a go to in my books.
Having tried beer from all over the world, I gotta say, Belgian beer is far and away my favorite. Every style just tastes a little more flavorful than anywhere else
I was on a 2 year long IPA kick. Now I am all about the Stouts and Porters!!! Dragons Milk from New Holland Brewing Co. out of Michigan is my favorite (for now).
Great vid, that guy was fun to listen to, an authentic passion came through... What's his website !?
This episode is good stuff.
I'm from Czech republic. If you'd look into stats you'd know that we here drink most beer peer capita in the world. It is no accident our beer is the best beer.

When I* went to Japan a couple of years ago, I went to the "Beer Museum Yokohama" (a restaurant with a huge variety of beers from all over the world). My (German) friends ordered: Czech beer. *I'm German and I don't drink beer.
@MaximumDistortion2
8 жыл бұрын
it´s also very cheap! When i was in czech republic, the beer was even cheaper than ordinary mineral water!
This Canadian spent almost 4 decades knocking American beer. Now Sierra Nevada Pale ale is pretty much the only brew I'll drink.
I started drinking pale ale in the early 90's too. Bought alot of craft beers back then in NYC delis walking around when you could still bag em. Even brewed two batches with a brew kit. But I just love my hops, and India Pale Ale the best. I wish it were otherwise.
I do find lots of beer choices overwhelming at times. But I like learning a bit more about Helles beers. And I'm glad to not be the only one overwhelmed can by all the IPAs.
As a chef, I respect the range of beer as I do the range of wines. Sadly, the food in most pubs and bars are so chocked with fats and salt and sugar, that only a highly hopped IPA will cut through all the fore mentioned. Find out if your favorite chef or restaurant offers a "beer pairing menu" to truly experience beer and food together. (And possibly justify your favs.)
It's great to see how different this guy is from the average wine snob. Which is why I like craft beer culture so much (not that there aren't craft beer snobs out there).
A friend I met recently from southern Germany introduced me to German Helles, and I must say, it is very nice. Need to get some of that in the US. My favorite style ever has to be a nice Belgian Wheat with a fruit garnish, or a rich and creamy Stout though.
mmm i noticed that two hearted was the ipa you chose, great chioce! Bells is such a good brewery.
that guy is class, good video
Thx for show us how to taste the beer like a pro! Ha ha ha so funny expert this was ;-)
I was started on IPA's and I'll always love them.
I haven't yet settled on a favorite beer, but I do know that stouts and porters are my favorite categories. Deschutes Black Butte Porter and Guinness Extra Stout are my go-to beers when it comes to grabbing a six-pack for a party.
right now, an ice-cold pilsner is always nice, but in the winter a nice porter or stout goes down really well
So, I don't drink beer... but I found this very interesting! It seemed to me that they were discussing the differences between three styles of beer (the American light lager, german pale lager, and india pale ale), rather than any particular brand.
Lol i love how he trolled him at the start 😂
My usual go-to beer is a Pale Ale (which is a different section to the India Pale Ale). However I think the favourite I've ever I've ever had was Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewery in California. It is apparently classed as a Double IPA (which I did not know until I checked for this comment).

I love me some double IPAs, but they are typically very high alcohol content for a beer (9%+).
I really like copper and red ales. I like that IPA's are fading some. Gives coppers and reds a chance to shine. :)
I love IPA's, they rule my beer world. Having said that you have to vary your beer consumption to appreciate it all the more. Lake Of Bays makes a really good red beer and I love a good Porter and Beau's makes a good one all organic and the water comes locally through a spring. It also sells in the USA if you want to try it. The bottom line though is variety and I just discovered in doing a little research here that there are even more breweries popping up locally so more to explore is always good.
That was great, learnt a lot :D also my favourite's Estrella from Barcelona!

+WheezyWaiter it would seem we both have excellent tastes!
Great video! We need a more in depth interview with Ray. Favourite beer? That's a really hard one. I'm a fan of IPA because of the refreshing hoppy flavour, but my over all favourite brewery is BrewDog from Scotland and their ales, so I guess it'll have to be some kind of Scottish ale. While watching this, I drank a Swedish Mango Feber DIPA from Brewski. =D
I really like radlers :) those are beers mixed with lemon juice or grapefruit juice some other kind of fruit juice and it's amazing! My favorite is grolsch radler lemon
I like to start an evening at a bar with a heavy hitting beer like a porter or stout, followed by something hoppy before graduating to an easy-drinking ale (or dark lager)
I love so many different kinds of beer. I really couldn't say that I have any particular favorite, but I'll narrow it down to two favorite styles: dark beers like porters and stouts, and hoppy beers like IPAs. I totallt get what you're saying about being tired of IPAs, and I agree to an extent, but I still love that hoppy bitterness.
Daumen hoch für helles!
I grew up in Munich and I so can confirm what he said. I was shocked when I came to the US. IPAs are drinkable, I guess, but your "standard" beer is what comes out of the kitchen tap in Munich. :D
My favorite beers are mostly Trappist style beers (most of them) and fruity sour beers like lambic. I don't like the hoppy after taste of most IPAs and other hoppy bears, though I do like the initial flowery taste of hops.
Bewdog beers are pretty impressive. Massive variety from the Scottish brewery. 5am Saint and Brixton Porter are a couple of my favourites. They do some interesting stonger beers like Sink The Bismarck which is a staggering 41% ABV. If you're in the UK visit one of their bars, best (not cheapest) place to get a pint.
I really like anything from Left Field Brewery in Toronto. They have delicious descriptions of all their beers on their website. It's a small shop that makes many one-off and unique recipes.
An expert tastes the beer in all its phases, from ingredients to matured.
Um.. I think I am not an expert but my saying goes: "If you can see trough the beer in glass, I won't like it." So where were all the dark beers? Stouts etc?

WMfin your saying suck.
What happened to our beloved Dutch and Belgium beers? Nothing on the old abbey brewed beers of all colors up to dark as ebony?
Great content! Beautiful filming too. How about a dark beer edition.
I am quite fond of a good porter or stout beer, with Hefeweisen being a close second. I'm not very familiar with most foreign beers, but as an Oregonian, I can say with some confidence that there are quite a few good brewers in the Pacific Northwest.
omg i so agree with the IPA thing. there's a place in my college town that's right next to campus, has 2 pints for $5 every day, good burgers and sandwiches and stuff... but every other time i go in there, out of like 15 taps, a couple aren't being used, one is angry orchard, one is blue moon, almost 10 are IPAs, and the remaining few might as well be IPAs. but i still go there because the other times they have a macademia nut porter from 6 rivers brewery that is like the greatest thing ever. also Untappd is a great app btw
I've always thought beer was gross, I think it's because I don't really like bitter flavors, I'm used to sweeter things. I couldn't drink coffee until I discovered all kinds of flavored latte's (I'm probably a Starbucks snob but I'm growing out of it). It's really interesting to know, even on this simple level that's in this video, that hops is the more bitter taste, and the difference between an IPA and a lager. It makes me want to learn more about different kinds and see if there might be one that I might actually like but haven't tasted before because I didn't know any better. You should make another video about more different types of beer!
Two hearted ale my personal fav. Good choice.
I'm not well drunk, and like to taste different things, but I like a lot of stouts, porters and wheatbeer. If it's warm out I'll have a pilsner. I find that as long as the beer doesn't remind me too much of perfume it's alright (that can be a fine line sometimes).
There's a brewery in Des Moines called Exile that makes a sour beer that is just un-freakin-believable. I know what you're thinking, sour beer? Don't knock it till you try it.

Ummm, sour and tart are 2 different things, ask a cicerone
I loved the video. I don't like beer tough.
i love bourbon county stout, but my go to beer is the the troegenator double bock made by troegs brewery
I'm turning 18 in October but here in South Africa there's been talk of bumping up the drinking age to 21. It gonna be close!!
The first beer I tried and truly loved was Alexander Keith's IPA. I think for anyone who's not a beer drinker because, as the fellow said, most North American lagers are quite week in flavour (I'm looking at you Molson and Labatt). IPAs offer something different and an excellent jumping off point for everything beer has to offer. Also, I'm thirsty now, and I'm also regretting the fact I opted to buy wine on my way home.
When I am old enough to drink beer, I will definitely go looking for a Cicerone. But what happened to all the other beers we see in the final shots? Is there a description for those?
Go to 5 Rabbit beer in Chicago! I've heard it's amazing!
Damn that guys tolerance must be incredible. x
A'ight, you got me here. I've been subscribed for a long time now, but never left a comment and almost never watched a video, because even the titles were boring. But now, beer. What did we learn from this video? There's US lager (which tastes like watered piss, ok we knew it), Munich Helles (which is, basically, your standard beer if you don't drink piss), and there's an IPA (which is a hipster beer made of condensed cat piss, and even they agree with that). Well, there's not really much to know, and it's not even a "good stuff", guys. What about lager beer, wheat beer, top-fermented, bottom-fermented, dark beers, you strange american root beer, where's that? And then there's this guy. Mr One of Eleven World's Aknowledged Expert in Beer (tm) (r), who launched a whole company to give himself some credit as Beer Expert (tm) and now watches everyone over his lip as only 11 in the entire world gave a single flying fuck to be titled Master Cicerone.
Not really a sisaroan but I do like home brew thanks for info
New belgium's citradelic is the newest on my fav list as well as Left Hand Brewing's Milk Stout Nitro.
As a Belgian, I'm gonna pick one of our own beers. I like dark beers that are a bit sweet. I like the triple beer from my home city best up 'till now. So, Carolus Tripple for me. Though I seem to like most heavy, dark beers. I haven't tasted our supposedly best beer of the world. It's very exclusive, made in limited edition in a monestary/abbey and it's called Westfleteren if I'm not mistaken. If the stories are true, there are traffic jams to try and obtain the beer. As an aside, american craft beers made Belgian news in the sense that the heavy use of hops was driving up its price dramatically and that our local brewers couldn't afford to use hops anymore, which threatened several small breweries with losing their specific brews since a lot of it is very local and as such produced in small quantities. Something like that. If my sentences do not make much sense, I am sorry. It's late and I'm tired. :)
Favorite beer is Adelbert's Tripel B, but I've been getting into ciders a lot lately. Austin East Ciders has a honey cider...omg delcioussssss
Great video, I love amber ales. Anyone heard of a little beer called Kwak?
My favourite beer is the so-called 'Storchenbier', a Helles which you only get in the Steinbach Brewery in Erlangen, Germany. It's simply everything a Helles should be. And while I'm on the subject of Helles, a little nit-picking: Helles is not only the go-to beer in Munich, but in all of Bavaria at least. This is an oversimplification of course but generally where the north of Germany goes for Pilsener, the south chooses Helles (and wheat beer which is incredible in its own right:D)
Mouth-watering SOUR BEER!! :O
My favourite beer is a Belgian cherry beer. Phenomenal.
my favorite beer is cause and effect from nickel brook brewing in Ontario
I've only really just got into beer... I'm a fan of Cobra (Indian Lager). Would have liked to have heard more about all the other types of beer, this didn't even start to talk about Ale and stuff!
I used to be more into beer, but my tastes have changed and i mostly drink cider now.
would have been nice to know more of the names of the beers you drank (there were more glasses at the end than were addressed in the video). cicerone founder has a great passion. kicking back a scotish ale as i watched :p but i think that IPAs have become so popular because the hoppy taste is really easy to create (good starting beer for a home brewer or microbrewery) and the hops would hide any flaws in the beer making process.
Lol that “how do u taste beer” bit in the beginning was so dry how could u not roll your eyes?
