I know I wanted you guys to see how I give each bird a chance to see how they interact with another it's very important to know who would be the bully if birds were out and alone together just so you know what dangers to avoid. So when they're in a safe environment like me being right there I definitely try to learn their tendencies

It means they are very healthy and have good balance. When they are ill they will roost with both feet because they are sick and can't grip and balance. Their one foot will lock in place so when they go to sleep they won't fall off the roost. Nature is amazing...

This (as well as the previous one) is a great video to show typical Ringneck behaviour and the night night routine! I've had a Ringneck for years and Blue (Isis) is a perfect specimen. They love all kinds of peppers and chilis. Even though, they're not gluten-free try offering her a piece of sesame bagel and she'll love you forever! They are also really smart and communicative. Give her another few weeks and she'll be telling you exactly what she needs. I loved this, Marlene!

I think birdtricks is really great! They have been very very successful with lots of clients they worked with in flight training! As for if they cage their birds to much, her birds are in very very large AVIARYS with a lot of toys and perches and room to fly safely. Never cages except for transportation. And they always have some of them out with them at some point in the day. I think that while they may not help everyone, they do a really good job for most people I’ve seen. And if your still concerned about them caging their birds, each aviary is about half of the size of their living room where they take the birds out to interact with and train :) they also have HUGE outdoor aviaries for them in the warm months. All her birds are also free flighted, so they go on trips out to fly with other parrots :)

Dear Marlene! OMG I love you! I recently fell in love with birds, but I cant have any myself, do to the fact that I have two beautiful cats in my life! But I live through watching you and your flock, and through a dear friend of mine, who just got her first baby cockatiel! You mentioned in one of your videos that, I believe it was Rocky, that needs you to sing him a song or two before lights out. I myself have a very elaborate bedtime routine with our rescue, Ellie. It involves she coming to take me to bed around 7 in the evening (that does not always happen tho!) and lots of cuddles administered the right way, and ending with me physically tucking her in for the night! We are talking covers all the way up to her ears! And she loves it! Its so special to have that with her, and I have been so curious about Rocky's routine, and if any of the other birds have any special bedtime, or morningtime, routines? Might that be a fun thing to document for us? (:

I 💯 agree. My parakeet, Lincoln, was a wild little girl when we got her but is now tame. She steps up when we need her to and comes when I have food. She loves fruit, and to throw things on the floor (so she has a toy box with random pieces of things to throw), 🐥🤗🐥but she also screams at us and will randomly come over to bite and peck. No blood is drawn and it isn't really painful just annoying so we ignore her. She just bites and pecks like we are her chew toys. She is always out of her cage. I love her mean little self and alway joke with my family that Lincoln plots daily to murder us all but still hasn't figured out how to hold a switch blade yet. I really think she just wants us to know she is our boss.

Wow can you imagine. Then add a baby to all that. She got so many 'kids' already. We're on #2 this fall....I been exhuasted since last year of the news of #1. ...how does she not get tired. Ok how do you not tire out yourself or even get a break. You are always on the go. With one you are always on the go. You impress me!

It took me a long, very long time to get my birds to trust me. They were a gift from my mom, and I have them for about 4 years now. But looking back now, this journey was a wonderful experience. To slowly going from them biting and screaming at me to me being able to actually holding them was something amazing. You need a lot of patience, but it's worth it.

Wow Marlene, I'm getting a new caique on Wednesday and I'm going to have to train her myself to not be aggressive toward humans. She is 10 years old, and she used to live with another caique, but they were both aggressive toward when they were together. So now, I have to teach her that people are good! I kinda feel like this video was specifically for me in some way, Haha. Thank you so much for making this super helpful content!💜💜

Hi, Marlene, I give Beenie Chamomile tea because he gets really nervous at times. He has always been very high strong. I'm glad you explained about how bad caffeine is for birds. One time when I had Baby at the avian vet for a check up and I got to listen to his precious little heart beat!!! It was and is so fast! I'm glad Blue is slowly getting use to you. I know he will learn to love you. I love the color of your fingernail polish! That is such a beautiful blue - is it turquoise? Turquoise is one of my favorite colors! Your fingernails are close to Blue's color as well! I enjoyed you telling about each of your birds unique little quirks that they have. Thank you for your wonderful videos! Beenie and Baby love them, too!!! Love and big hugs to you and all your birds and family. :)

Short answer: you don't Long answer: you eventually get a sense of when they're about to go. my conure starts backing-up quickly toward a table edge for instance, and if you're quicker you can at least try to aim in a more desirable direction/landing spot. Some birds can apparently be trained to go-on-command, so you can direct things more. Bird poop is very different than that of, say, mammals. To me it doesn't really stink, so having to clean it was never an issue from a 'gross' standpoint. I've learned to always have wipes at hand. Stack of paper towels torn into quarters, tiny trash can nearby. Disinfect periodically.
