    Say it with me: your bird doesn't hate you it's prob just TERRIFIED bc it's a prey animal and we are LARGE, it's very easy to scare them.

    Hey God Loves you and everyone and wants you and everyone to experience the peace and life He offers. We all have sinned and fallen short in the glory of God. Sins are things we do that don’t please God. God made a way and send His one and only Son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ die for our sins on the cross. He was crucified. He was buried. Then on the third day Jesus Christ rose from the dead proving He’s the Son of God. God loves the World and gave us the choice to turn away from the things that don’t please God like lies, stealing, cheating and more and ask for forgiveness of sins. And accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and accept what Jesus Christ did on the cross. God Loves you and wants you and everyone to be save. Let’s seek the Lord sins separate us from God but God made a way trough Jesus Christ. Let’s share with others.

    -put your birds in a room where your family or other members in the house frequent where they can get used to the environment -spend time around your bird's cage -pay attention to your bird's body language -use positive reinforcement -BE PATIENT. if you rush things you're just making it harder on yourself because then you're making the bird distrust you even more.

    @@sadooww if it freaks out from you being close then leave it. my bird is female and i waited until she stopped jumping when i came close. leave the cage open but dont force her or try to get her to come out. she will leave her cage, her safe space, when she's ready. keep her in the room with you when youre doing mundane little things like work or school or whatever so she can get used to your presence and your voice! martin was still shy and skittish by one week and its recommended you wait about three weeks or so. let the bird lead the situation. she's the most scared. my little girl took almost two months to even come near me on her own and even longer to climb me. let her investigate you when she eventually does.

    @@sadooww if she isn't interested in going near you or isn't comfortable with you yet, i don't suggest opening her cage until she's at least more comfy with you. generally speaking, the cage is her "territory" so to speak. it's her space. hers and hers only. it's important you don't stick your hands in there unless its to clean or change food and water, that is very stressful because they're prey animals and you coming into their space or trying to catch them with your hands is similar to being hunted. she wont leave the safe spot if she isn't ready. if she DOES end up leaving her cage (which i highly doubt because the relationship is still so fresh) there is a very high chance she will only climb to the top and then back inside, not away from it unless spooked. if you just keep making slow movements around her and talk softly to her every day, i'm sure eventually she will be confident to fly to you or explore a bit more! ^^ the first week is stressful for both parties and don't be worried if she doesn't eat much in the beginning. that is perfectly normal! of course, i am not an expert. i'm just giving my own experiences (that worked). feel free to ask questions - im sure someone else is always bound to have an answer!

    I love your second tip. That's what I did when I got my birds. I sat on the sofa, about 10 feet away from the bird cage, watching movies. I left the door to the bird cage open and figured they'd come out when they were ready. They did. I think the zero-pressure approach is why they lost their fear of me as quickly as they did.

We got them a new cage, lots of toys.. and we have a room with toys and play gyms and swings that allow them to choose cage or room.. they stopped biting and are stepping up and recalling. We also allowed their wings to grow in as they were always kept cut and this has helped them soooo much I think with bonding.. its like they don't have this helpless fear now.. and we taught them how to fly without crashing and being afraid and now they LOVE flying and singing and chattering..

    This is so heartwarming! How are they now? I adopted 2 green conures who came from a hoarder and I'm slowly gaining their trust and have no issues feeding them by hand. The female tempts to bite almost everything even when she sees my hand. she isn't attacking though, she is just being a bit rough as I think she is still exploring (they are not tamed and were never handheld). Any tips on how to stop the biting? Also, is the screaming normal?! They're now very comfortable with their cage and their room, and I let them out every day. I'm thinking they're screaming to get attention and I try not to walk in the room everytime they scream. Will the screaming eventually go away? Thank you!!

    With my cockatiels I find that speaking softly to them can really calm them down, after all these years (10+). Whenever they freak out of something (sudden loud noise on TV or a quick shadow of a bird flying outside), just talking softly calms them down really quickly. As for teaching them to step on the perch - we have one here that now only wants to step on the perch and is disgusted by hands 🤣😂 so, if possible, try teaching them to step up on the hand straight away, even by saying "step up" so they can associate these word with an action you want them to do. Otherwise you covered it pretty much! Good job 👍

He loves being out and singing, watching KZread and sitting on my shoulder. He loves to run around and explore but he HATES hands. I’ve never been able to pet him. He’ll warily eat out of my hand but he trusts me and isn’t afraid to climb on me and interact with my face, so it’s interesting lol

    I had gotten a budgie 3 years ago (christmas will mark the 3 year mark) and we were extremely close up until i started 7th grade 2 years ago. Sadly, my schedule was always so filled so i only had about an hour with my budgie. I decided to get her another bird friend because she was always so lonely without me and she’d have another friend to cure it. Unfortunately, the bird i got her died on sunday 10.17.2021 (yes, very recent when writing this comment). It was now that i realized that our bond and trust had disappeared almost completely because i neglected her feelings and put school in front of her. Im now trying to rebuild our bond and its going to be a lot more harder than the first time.

    I think it is impressive how "calm" your birds are. We got a young cornure as yours. She is so lovely but she has a hang to bite. We tried not to take away our fingers but is bites quite hard. Even when we train to get on the fingers. We also encounter the problem that she bites everything (even the stiff she should not) and when you try o get the attention to other things you get a nice bite... and she flies back. She is very young, so maybe this is the reason of her extreme excitement.

    I had my birds for a year I have successfully trained 3 birds out of 4 some of my tips are don’t force them and slowly introduce yourself to them my 2nd bird was incredibly possessive of his home so he’ll bite at everyone I then introduced him to my first bird who i was still scared of because I was lil afraid of birds. 2nd bird is now one of my bests birds who never bite at any circumstances. My bird that still bites stop biting for a couple of months but then i stopped paying attention to it for a little while so now she bites me, so please always pay attention to your bird even if they love you so much always pay attention.

    it's been 5 months with my two cockatiels, there has been process in gaining and in bonding moments, they feel comfortable with my hands. It's just they still don't like handling and don't find any time with me interesting, yes even with treats.

  • @lishang2653
    @lishang26532 жыл бұрын

    actually really good to handle your bird right away after you get it because it gets it acclimated easier to being handled by you in turn making training the bird a lot quicker and easier. also keeping it in its cage at first will teach it that it's cages the safe place and it won't want to leave the cage.

    I got my first Green Cheek, Gryphon, yesterday. Apparently he was returned to the store that I got him from by his previous "owners" because he wasn't able to be trained in two weeks. The man at the store said that after he was returned he just wasn't the same bird, and also that he might have some sort of PTSD from the whole experience. It saddens me to think about what they might have done to him. I've had 9 budgies (7 currently) so I know it can sometimes be difficult and take time to tame and bond with a bird. I really hope that Gryphon can learn to trust again. I definitely won't give up on him like the others did.

    Is his cage always open? Idk what the bird communities thoughts on it will be but I think just leaving it open 24/7 will make them curious and interested about everything outside of it, including you. Or is it *just* your hands he's scared of? Can try using your hands to ONLY give him treats so he associates your hands with very good things. I am by no means an expert, only had 1 budgie lol. But this is how I did it with him and it went quite well.

    I use a little trick that worked for my budgies. I hold a little measuring spoon full of seeds in the cage close to a perch and wait for them to muster up the courage to come over and eat it. It takes several tries about 5 minutes with breaks in between so they can settle back down and try again. Do this during the time when they normally eat and after a few days of eating comfortably from the spoon you can move to the next step and offer seeds in the flat palm of your hand. Don't rush and don't chase them with it. Just sit there and wait for them to come to you and don't look them in the eye (I even close my eyes and try to look relaxed to help them feel like I'm not a big monster trying to get them lol). The more often you try the better and eventually you'll be able to get them to step up and trust your hands better.
