I'm a language learner so most of the apps on my phone are educational apps and one of my favourite apps is called Cake, a language learning app. Though it's been around for a while but I really like it. Basically, you download it on you phone and input some persinal information in it. Then, you can choose the topic you want to learn and tap into it. A list of movie clips will appear for you to watch. By watching a lot different contexts you can embed the new words into your memory immediately. In other words, you can internalize what you are studying right away. It does many things. It helps you to evaluate the number of vocabularies that you have learnt and teaches you new words and idioms through movie clips - so you will memorize them more easily and be able to retrieve them in your speaking and writing. That way, your learning is fun because you feel like you are watching films and the app will explain everything for you freely. What I also like about this app is its simplicity. It's super intuitive. Its interphere is user-friendly and easy to navigate. You don't need to be the most tech-savy person to use it, even a technophie can manage to get the most out of it. I highly recommend it, especially for intermediate students. It may be a little bit challenging for starters though if you try, you can get very satisfying result.

Here are a few suggestions for your writing: 1) 'Though it's been around for a while, I really like it,' not, 'Though it's been around for a while but I really like it'. 2) '...and input some personal information,' not, 'input some persinal information in it'. 3) '...and tap it,' or, '...and tap the icon,' not, 'tap into it'. Hope this helps you!

At time 13:36 Katie used a bit unusual construction (Do you Ever use). Why it wasn't (Have you ever used), I think in this case it's more relevant mode of time.
@Oxfordonlineenglish1

Hi Arman. Good question. 'Do you ever use' refers to the present simple, meaning currently. 'Have you ever used' refers to the past until now, meaning in the past. Therefore, 'do you ever use' is more relevant here. Hope this helps you!

Hi there! I've noticed that all of the people presentanting those OOE clips are using their hands in abundance. In many cases it looks so unnatural, exaggerated, and kind of annoying. What purpose does that serve? It doesn't make it less monotous or dull. I presume that the whole content is scripted, and don't get me wrong it's a good one, however the teachers are terrible at acting/presenting it. The other thing is the quality of these videos. Please make sure to invest in good microphones and hire someone who knows how to record sound properly. Editing leaves a lot to be desired as well. I hope that my feedback will help you to improve this channel, cause as I mentioned your content is great and beneficial for many English students. Thanks for teaching us. Take care!
@Oxfordonlineenglish1
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! We always appreciate some constructive criticism :) With hands, we can't win. If we don't move, then people complain that we look wooden or robotic. If we move them too much, people complain that it's annoying. If we move them just the right amount, no one notices or cares. Acting? Yes, we're not actors. Plus, the videos are made by a distributed team - everything is shot separately and edited together. That creates a lot of challenges. I'm aware of the issues with sound, and they bug me also. However, it doesn't seem that viewers care all that much. I would prefer that the videos have no issues with sound, lighting, etc., but spending the extra time/money to go from 95% right to 99% doesn't seem to make a difference. Videos with better production values don't get more views or more positive feedback. Do you have any specific points about editing? Suggestions are always welcome. Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to comment.
Thank you
