At 02:55 you have in the middle of shower cap a distinct concentric grey water-disperser. It's a hidden screw, clockwise or counter-clockwise, should be opened by using a towel or something similar. Under that disperser, another screw will separate the shower cap by the rest of disperse-mechanism. Good luck next time,it worked for me.
This was good. Thanks for going all the way. You're like I am - Once it's broken, I'm going all the way to see why I had tobreak it. Looks like this is a one time assembly that if it is ever to come apart will require a very special tool. I liked this video.
Everybody knows how to break and destroy something, we want to know how to fix it and pull it together again.

I became addicted to watching your video. It started out very methodical, then became funny. I love the use of the fork as a tool...and no work gloves. LOL. Very amusing and I'm glad you didn't injure yourself.
I love that in 2021 I was able to get a good look at pretty much exactly how I figured this would go and save myself a bunch of time and frustration. Off to Costco. More sh*t for the landfills.
Great video. I watched to the end to discover how it was assembled and the component parts. If you had simply said it can't be disassembled it would have been useless. Thanks for video to the end.
Thanks for the video. It showed me how to take the first part out...... and also showed that it's impossible to continue disassembly because the inner ring is snapped permanently in place, and no access to the clips. Thanks for loading the video.... even though I could feel the frustration building up..... you're a sport!!
Good post. This shows how hard ,if not impossible, it's to get that piece out. I stopped because it seemed like damage was going to occur if done by force. But, what gets me is, they give a replacement rubber holes thing with the showerhead.
Love the approach "at this point there's no saving it. [...] Let's continue so we can FIGURE OUT HOW to disassemble it without destroying it." At that point I subscribed. I want to see more content like that; let everyone else be able to learn from your own first (unfortunately) destructive attempt. Well done, and thank you!

it really pisses me off that they make so many products nowadays to be throwaway instead of cleanable/fixable. I have a similar shower head that needs to be cleaned and the o-rings and gaskets lubricated. I can't figure out how to open it up because there are no external screws, it doesn't seem to pry apart, it doesn't unscrew, and there don't appear to be any secret pieces to remove to expose screws. BTW - it was very satisfying watching you destroy that shower head. That's about how I feel about mine right now!

Lol! It was a pain to destroy that shower head, glad it brought you some satisfaction! Its designed to be a press together assembly process with the locking tabs. I completely agree that the parts should be replaceable. Such a waste to throw the whole thing away just for a leaking washer.

@@thriftytani46 if I can't figure out mine I might shoot a video of me smashing it with a sledge hammer
Well, I was hoping to find out how to fix my all-time favorite shower head. It leaks up around the head; water comes out around the little gap between the part you spin for a shower pattern and the back of it. But I don't think this video is going to help me. It was interesting in a gorilla-ish sort of way.
I actually flinched when it broke... lol

I love it. Never give up. Tune in next week for a demonstration - DIY Video - Repair your own Rolex Wrist Watch.
Now i know what to check for in a showerhead, the ability to dissasemble and clean. Or dam ill buy a garden hose and the adjustable watergun for the shower. Those come apart lol
Thank you for the video. It's very helpful to know that it is not serviceable. You saved my day!!! The best takeaway from your effort is that I can soak the showerhead in vinegar or some weak acid solution which can dissolve grime buildup in and out of the nozzles. That's very good to know no other parts to worry about.

Thank you, I’m glad you understand why I posted the video!
The very middle plastic thing is a threaded screw. Put a very small Phillips in one of the holes, and turn counter clockwise to further disassemble. There are also snap catches all around the top chrome plastic piece. There is only one way to align it for reassembly so they everything matches up. Waterpik logo and clips. You'll see...
Okay, I took mine apart just like you did. Though, I can't find the "Put together / Reassemble" video. Can you please link?
That was great. I loved it, it was just like me, if it doesn't work anyway, take it apart to see how it does work!!!!

Thanks Robert, hopefully at least showing what’s inside would be helpful to some folks!
That reminds me of the time I took a vacuum tube apart to try to fix it. Same result.
So he couldn’t get the gray rotating disc off so he just said “fuck it I’ll break the shit to pieces.” lol !
Well it's almost 2021, I assume you have it working just fine by now??
With kohler heads some models have a tool to remove the center of that grey disk and clean/replace the screen when it gets clogged. The rest of the head then comes apart.
Best video I have seen in a long time. Stick to it. LOL

Lol! Thanks Scott, I almost stopped recording after I started demolishing it. But I stuck to it!
Let me know when you put it back together. Then I'll come watch
Let us know if you figure out how to remove the grey disk without "cracking" the housing... they say while completely demolishing it beyond any possible recognition.
Nice to know that you are a "You Tuber" and not a "Brain surgeon!" I wonder if brain surgeons have background music whie they work. Thanks for the video!
thanks a lot!!!

Thanks for not bloodying that white towel :)
That steel washer was designed in to create the failure like a timed fuse. It is designed obsolescence forcing you to buy a new Waterpik every X number of years. Where the value of X is known to the manufacturer.
I was looking for DIY fix for water not pulsing, but your total destruction of the shower head was hilarious. How's it work now?

@@NK-4628 You can purchase 30% Vinegar (acetic acid) in some hardware stores and garden centers. It is used for Organic-based insect and disease control on some plants. Regular vinegar is only about 5% acetic acid. The 30% vinegar was very effective at eliminating the lime scale in my shower head. I poured the vinegar into a cereal bowl and placed the shower head with its holes face down in the bowl. Every 10 minutes I picked it up and changed the pattern position lever to a different position and placed it back in the vinegar. After about 60 minutes I poured some vinegar into the hose inlet on the shower head and rotated the lever as I did so.
FYI, Waterpik will send you replacement parts for free. They've replaced my hose and the mount for it.

lol i enjoyed this so funny
Don't sweat it... nothing a little JB Weld can't fix! I am guessing those tabs once locked it don't allow for non destructive disassembly ?

Lol! Yup, it appears the clips allow for quick push together assembly at the factory. Disassembly would require several of those clips being gently pulled at the same time and the disk is pulled apart. It’s definitely easier to get a new free shower head under their warranty
😄The fork is mightier than the pik!
Ha! Destroyed! That's the way to go 😂

Hey Kristy, the unit is difficult to fix. The parts mostly press and click together so if it’ isn’t clicking back together, I’d just get a free one under warranty. They’ll ship it to you for free too.
Oh my gosh! We are kindred spirits. Did you use to do this to toys when you were a kid? I did! Always wanted to know how they worked!
You mean how to destroy a waterpik showerhead... that wasn't it.
Hey, sometimes a 'what not to do' video is as good as 'how to'. If it ain't workin', what do you have to lose? And if the fork/screw driver isn't enough, get a hammer! : )
I'll leave a link to Amazon for some nail clippers
Confirms my thought that taking these heads apart isn't safely possible. My frustration is that the rotating powerpulse sticks (stops turning) after just a few months. Soaking hasn't helped. Seems like poor design. Any ideas?

wow. RUD's for beginners.
😂
FYI, I did have my receipt and had my showerhead replaced. But it started leaking, this time at the pause button shortly after that and when I emailed for a replacement, I was told that the "Lifetime" warranty had been fulfilled by the one replacement! Not so much "Lifetime"!!! Definitely will not be buying Waterpik products in the future!
WaterPik Shower heads are great until.... POOF! Off to the trash...
Since when does destroying the shower head count as disassembly for cleaning, repair or leak fix? This is useless, might as well buy a new one if you're planning on doing this.
