She said you can shove it in there. It won't bother them. Obviously, it did bother the dog because he jumped and kept moving around. Lol! She shoved it in hard too! Poor dog. I've seen techs shove it really hard and deep but other barely put it in and it still takes an accurate reading.

TIP: It's always good the best idea to use the sterile protective sleeps on the thermometer
