How to Sync Elevator Servos, Mechanically and Electrically, Hitec Servos Programmer

Ғылым және технология

I broke out a shorter vid from the CARF build. This Technic applies to ailerons as well or even ganged servos. Many times we poorly build small mistakes into a model and wonder why it doesn't fly well. Little things like this make a huge difference.

Excellent video! Thanks a ton! Looks like you needed to reverse one of the servos though. The surfaces weren't moving in the correct/same direction.

Any large aerobatic plane yes I do. I typically use clear monokote if I have it. If not I try and match color

Do I connect them in different channels? Or both connected to a Y cable in the same channel ? Thanks

Different channels is always best. If perfectly matching servos you can always do a y. The better they are programmed the better they turn out on a y

@@JustPlaneCrazy The programmer only programs Hitec servos, but you can use the test option on the HFP-30 with any other make.

I have had problems replacing aileron servos……they act like flaperons……when I replace one it moves in sync with the other servo…acting like flaperons instead of ailerons when connected on a Y connector into the receiver…Do servos come in left and right for the ailerons?…very frustrating….any ideas…..thanks

If the air the same way in the plane wing side to side they will do that. Either need one reversed or split the channels if it’s not digital and can’t be reversed. What plane is this?

@@JustPlaneCrazy it happened first on my Pitts biplane….I ended up taking out the y splitter and putting the ailerons on separate channels..I didn’t like doing that though….now it happened to my daily flyer which is a Dynam Waco….very frustrating.

It’s always better to have separate channels. That way end points can be properly setup and differential if needed. Question to me is why do you keep having Servos failures. I can’t honestly say I have have had more than 2 in my lifetime

@@JustPlaneCrazy Thanks…….I’m a freshman in the hobby….on the Pitts it happened after a crash (signal loss) but the Waco was different…I had flown out five batteries on a short runway with one steep angle of attack landing….the next day I checked and my right aileron was out …I replaced at the field..but ended up with flaperons. I will probably end up putting it on a separate channel. Thanks for your help.

I see. Just bad service luck. But yes some planes need reversed servos on the opposite control side. I always prefer everything on separate channels. The other benefit is less items to fail.
