As a girl with a new very-very short men's haircut, thanks! I never knew how to spike or do Faux Hawks; I've been looking all over the internet for good tutorial videos. :3 I prefer to have men's hairstyles and wear girly girly clothing as a personal preference, but I have no clue how to do short hair- my family is native american and all the men have hair grown down to at LEAST their shoulder-blades...they offered absolutely no help. So, thanks again!

My boyfriend takes care of his self, but so many guys don't. It's nice to see someone spreading the word! Taking care of your hair, random nose hairs, eyebrows, etc. does not mean you're anything other than aware that chicks don't dig sloppiness. THANK YOU!

I'm so glad you did this when your hair was "long", my hair is about the same length and I'm sick of using gel that makes my hair all hard and crunchy but I wasn't sure anything else would be able to do what I want it to!

I have a faux hawk as well. I usualyl do my middle section a little shorter because the weight tends to cause it to not stand up properly. I also like to use Aveda Mens Grooming glay...great stuff for the faux hawk. Its not super clay like but its like a mix of a palmade and a clay..plus it smells nice. I also have to trim my hair every 3 weeks!

I use a blow dryer before I put on the stuff I use and it really helps get the shape in before you do anything. I use the orange container I think is crew forming cream and my hair doesn't get a shiny finish and I have seen the fiber make a shiny finish with dry hair and the forming cream doesn't. Great video though, I am getting my hair cut today and I just wanted to see how they should cut my hair to make it work better with this style.

Suave professional touchable finish light weight hold is the only way to go with hairspray basically no shine and has a good hold! Strong enough for really windy days when mixed with crew fiber. Def try it you'll love it! Doesn't clump atall either cuz it's such a light mist when applied

I have thinner hair and I'm 16, my hair is about the same length as yours, about 2-3 inches on top/in the front or whatever, nicely proportioned for a faux hawk. The girl at the salon used some kind of product with a lemon scent (I bought American Crew Fiber last night, same exact scent, assuming it was that) and it stood up fairly well, I'm assuming it was still slightly damp. I just got out of the shower this morning, toweldried my hair and tried to style my hair into a faux hawk...

@DillonSinghBasi I'm not Ross, but I have heard that gel can cause acne if you get it on your skin, since the gel will clog the pores. Since I use gel almost daily, I've been told to always wash my face after I put on gel, and to be careful not to get gel on my skin.

i used to style my hair with that goo and hair spray, not a faux hawk but just messy style... but my hair was so thin and crappy it would never stay the way i wanted. Tried various different products, eventually just had enough and shaved it all off. Now i stick with a buzzcut style, never have to worry about styling my hair again.

Hey Ross, I have a question... I've heard from a lot of people that I should wash my hair before I go to sleep if I've used products such as gel or wax which I do almost everyday, I understand I must wash it out at the end of the day but I have also heard that if you wash your hair every day it also washes out the natural oils that help you have healthy hair... I'm kind of confused Ross. Shall I use less products for example, maybe use it only on week ends? Thank you so so much, much love. Tany

With the Got2B Glued spray, to get rid of the clumps and shiny finish with the same hold, style your hair the way you want, spray, take a brush and brush your hair back, respike it and style it and you get the hold without the shine and clumps.
