Hi Bleu, on the CMS website, the PDF print version is 118 pages. I printed them out to make the reading of the ICD-10-CM guidelines easier to read. The print is bigger. ;) Thanks for all your guidelines LOL and recommendations and teachings.

A million thanks Bleu - you have given me perspective. I just started with AAPC course and am on chapter 3 and completely overwhelmed. Not digging down enough in the ICD book when coding and making mistakes! I have printed the guidelines and taking to Kinko's to get bound. This way I can carry with me all the time and study in pieces like you suggested.

I am studying for my CPC coming up in September and I’m so happy I found this channel. I have been feeling really nervous because I just finished up my 12 month online course and I was feeling really defeated when I was looking through the CPC exam training book. I work a full time job and after work I don’t feel like reading so thank you for your encouraging words and tips for learning the guidelines.

Hi Bleu, I really enjoyed this video, it seemed to open up some good ideas for me for studying. I am currently enrolled in the AAPC CPC course & I have NEVER heard a more true statement; I agree that these courses rushed through like a heard of cattle is totally unreasonable, especially when their main selling point is “at your own pace”, BULL, they mean at your own pace as long as it falls within our perimeters & if it don’t, you have to pay more money to stay enrolled & receive what you’ve already paid for. I am livid at that BUT, that’s not what I got on here to say. Thank you so very much for the info you’ve shared, it truly opened my eyes to a few things to help. I am doing my weekly live lecture now, we are in week 3, supposed to be completing chapters 6&7 & I am just finishing up #4 & really not comprehending much because it is so jam packed & rushed. Anyway, thanks for your ear & tips.

I now know to take my time reading the guidelines. Would you suggest to continue to do the exercise coding "practice scenarios" as well? I hope. I made sense. THANK YOU so much❤

This job requires a lot of reading…. It’s the requirement for this profession. It’s laborious, but your mind gets used to it. I felt the same way with 1500 pages of real estate books… but I noticed that my brain got another work out and got faster. Same with this Med billing/coding course. I just knocked out Med term first class and by the time I finished the book the other day, I didn’t bother studying for the final and just went right to it. Because the brain gets a workout and those neurons get workin’, you’re on your way! Thanks, Bleu…. You’re awesome!

Bleu, thank you. I am 52 yrs old and have been home with my kids for 19 yrs and want to start back to work as soon as possible but, I found that every coder job offer wants experience. I want to start taking classes online and I did find where I could enroll at AHIMA and be certified within a year for right at $3000. And I found out today that since it is not an associates degree that a grant cannot be used. What are your thoughts. Thank you Jessica

    1. Your story is awesome, I hope you stay with it. 2. You do not need a degree to be a medical coder, only if you want to be someone's supervisor. 3. The AHIMA program online actually comes out to more than $3000 because thats just the classes, the cost of the books is not included in that price. 4. You can actually study independently for medical coding and you do not have to go through a formal program to sit for a medical coding certification. 5. The independent study video link is in the description box of this video. 6. Please go through my videos, I have so many with advice and helpful things. Thank you.
