Numismatics is not science of coinage. It is branch of study which reconstructs history through careful analysis of engraving on coins like some verses of Quran or name of issuing king or sultan. Just like archeologist look at epigraphs, in numismatics scholars look at information like period, dynasty, religious affiliation of king or sultan and so forth through study of coins
