I know one thing that helped me with getting my As in A&P was watching a video about the subject before reviewing the material in class. Videos from Crash Course on KZread are great to get you familiar with the topic before you have a lecture in class.

FIRST 10 SECONDS are so true! I made A's in part 1 & 2 because as soon as my as got home I would start reading my book and concept the hell out of processes on a whiteboard! Some people just don't want to do the grunt work. Constant review is key!

I took rough notes in class then went home an re-wrote them with pictures because I'm a highly visual person. Do not just memorize material...try to understand the process because you will use it every.day.as.a.nurse. You cannot critically think if you do not understand the process. Ask questions!

  • @NurseBass

+Robin Voak That's exactly right! Re-write those notes, make them more organized and neat and the studying will be a lot easier. And yes, you definitely can't memorize material and try to regurgitate it. It has to be molded to memory! Need some more Nursing videos from you Robin!

Initialy studying human anatomy seems to bo very difficult. It's true that it is complex and your studies wont change that. As for being overwhelming, that can be eleviated if you take it one step at a time. I discovered an article on Sebs Study Crammer very useful for this.

What helped me through anatomy 1 and 2 was forming a study group of serious students and everyone of us had A's in both classes. That's my advice form a study group and take advantage of open lab if your school has it.

  • @Bilbus7
    @Bilbus75 жыл бұрын

Getting an A in A&P requires sitting down and just studying everything in the chapter. Memorize the structures, understand their physiology. Simple. It all comes down to forcing yourself to sit down and put the work in. Knowing what the professor wants you to know (learning objectives) helps a lot too. But if you want to learn it because it's necessary in your career, just try your best to learn everything in the entire book, not just what your professor is going to test you on. Also, go into lab already having a decent understanding of what you'll be doing. Read your lab manual and get familiar with the anatomy beforehand. It'll make solidifying your knowledge in lab that much better/easier.

Back in November of 2018 I was pucking classes for the following semester (spring of 2019). I needed to take anatomy and phisiology because it was a required class for my major, but most most importantly I needed to pass that class in order to transfer to a state university. I was freaking out because I took a biology during the semester of Fall of 2018, and I barely managed to get a 'B' as my letter grade, and I knew that A&P is no joke. I searched videos on KZread on how to pass that class, and I came upon this video. I implemented all of these strategies into my studying and even managed my time better. I would sacrifice time, would review my notes daily, study all the necessary parts of the body according to what was being taught. I received an 'A' and I would say that watching this video was the best help I received. Thank you, I appreciate your work and the way that you take time out of your day to help others via youtube videos.

This was very straightforward and to the point. I am a junior pre-PT and started A&P 1 last week. I've got a long road ahead of me for PT but I absolutely love A&P. i did a crash course on anatomy to get my personal fitness trainer cert but I wanted to go more in depth. Thanks for the tips man!! One way I learn best with this kind of dense material is to have constant reinforcement like you said and to really sit and think about what I am learning as I am studying. Contemplating on one topic at a time and absorbing all the info for one topic first before moving on to the next.

I will be applying for nursing school at the end of this month, and I know along with the HESI A2, the grades in AP are a BIG deal!! as for as what I do in addition to your given tips are I do a self made study guide with illustrations, charts, and diagrams. I didn't do so well on A& P 1 last semester it was one of the hardest classes out of the three that I was taking. Language barrier was a problem because my professor is not from here (good teacher though) and there were things I could've done better myself. I couldn't agree more with you about putting in the time to study and review over the material! I would have done better in the class if I would have studied harder. Hey man! MUCH NEEDED VID! Lol! My instructor is the type that really doesn't lecture, he just kinda skims over the material and we are left to put those puzzle pieces together unfortunately. So this was a good one! Real quick though, I just wanted to come thru and let you know that I'm studying to take the HESI next month (I know you took the TEAS). But I bought me a study guide and I've gone thru the practice math test and made a 90! I was super pumped! lol! I know it's only a practice test but I'm horrible at math. I had to pull out some old books to help me review. Anywho, keep pushing thru your program, you got this!

I couldn't agree more with you about "step 3". My program breaks A&P apart and allocates one full semester to each. This pass fall I completed the anatomy with nearly a perfect score and my secret was "time" All I did was anatomy, and when I call all I did, I mean ALL I did was anatomy. If fact, I know that when dreaming I was reviewing lab objective. Your tips are spot on from my experience. The only thing that I might add is: ask questions and utilize your professors office hours to to discuss topics that you're not 100% clear on after study sessions. That time is so valuable! This spring I'll be taking the physio portion of my prerequisites and plan to apply the same process. Thanks for what you you Nurse Bass!

+Daniel Brock You're very welcome my friend! Thank you so much! My program also broke down and separated A&P into two semesters. Yea, I could have added a bunch more into this video but I wanted to keep it concise: One thing in particular being getting MasteringAandP and doing tons of practice quizzes and tests. That was key for me.

I did pretty much what you advised although I used the textbook a lot in A&P 2 even though the power points were my primary resource. I couldn't help but notice your Dolphins hat, do you go to school in south florida??? I agree with your 'secret sauce' - actually it's exactly what my organic chemistry professor told the class on day 1. You just need to put the time in. Although other students may pick up the material faster, there is nothing you can't accomplish with adequate time and motivation.

Great video, Nurse Bass. In your video you said you hardly look at the textbook, how do you implement detailed information into your notes without totally replicating the entire book? I'm taking A&P II online and studying from Anatomy and Physiology textbook (6th edition, Marieb & Hoehn), it's extremely detailed as you may already know. I'm going to try what you recommend, that is to look read over the professor's lecture notes and study the diagrams. I just need to know how to work quickly without sacrificing quality of notes. Thanks.

How do you get into the habit of studying? It's been 10 years since I've been in school and my first day of classes is next week! 😁 Do you go home and study right away after class? +makeupbyjoyce Yea, I don't really have a consistent method of studying each day. Some days I will go home and study right away. Most days I will take a break between lecture and studying though. It give my brain a rest and reboot. And I wouldn't say that I necessarily study every single day either. But the days that I DO study, I'll study anywhere from 3-8 hours haha. When I study, I go BIG. lol

I depend a lot on the textbook, I rely a lot on KZread videos but I feel like the textbook contains all the descriptions, I always paraphrase everything I write down, I feel it helps me sink in what I'm reading, also for memorizing name here's some good tips, if it's anatomy try and write down the names on tape and sticking them on your body, this REALLY sped up the memorizing process, you can also look up the meaning of their names, once you figure why they're name like that it's easier to remember. I'm taking this class to further my Art career, human anatomy is very important for drawing so I pretty much draw every diagram I encounter or make up my own diagrams

Hes right, its all about time put in, the power points, and study guides!!! a C grade was unaccecptable for me my first time in A&P1 (its a chinese F) I spent endless hours studying the textbook. My second time around I studied the outlines, study guides, power points if provided, and used resourceful youtube videos of individual systems, and the textbook only if I needed more clarification, A's A&P1/2 plus Micro.... Im trying to find a video about how to study for Nursing school, is it the same concept?

I got an A in anatomy( with missing most lectures but showing up for lab) and a B in physiology (showed up to both lecture and lab) Memorization and even understanding the mechanisms I felt was not enough in physiology, but then again our professor modeled the exam questions based on the NCLEX exam, so the questions were super conceptual/ heavy application type.

Oh absolutely, all the nursing majors are sure to thank this professor after they graduate and pass the NCLEX. He did not let us keep the exams so it was hard to break down how he was making his questions. But you are 100% right the secret is putting the time in, as more time in = more familiarity with the material.

Initialy studying human anatomy seems to bo extremely complicated. It's true that it's not simple and your studies will not change that. As for being overwhelming, that can be eleviated if you take your study one step at a time. I discovered an article on Sebs Study Crammer very helpful for this.

Im currently studying dentistry and in my first semester I have 4 subjects, anatomy one of them. Your last tip 'studying everyday' putting the time in. I find it difficult to study my other 3 subjects as anatomy takes up a lot of my time as it is much harder than my other subjects so I unconsciously prioritised anatomy when studying. What do you suggest I do to be able to stay on top of all my work.
