Once the chrome is damaged it starts to chip and your seals will need to be replaced all the time. In no way is this a good fix. You can fix chrome however only minor pits and scratches.

Excellent job! I watched an old mechanic weld/braze a crack inside of a cylinder. He used a torch of course and a metal coat hanger. He put the engine in his wrecker and run it for years afterwards. That was in the late 80’s so the metal was a lot better than the “oil can” garbage of today.

This is the first time I've seen the inside of a hydraulic cylinder. But no surprises, it is what I'd expect. Great that Pakistani technicians can fully repair this cylinder. One thing I note is that in a workshop like this you have many workers. Most workshops in other countries make do with half or even a third of what you have owing to a shortage of labour willing to do such backbreaking but honest labour. In addition, I see that safety is non-existent. Workers do not even have the most basic PPE, not even shoes or gloves. This will not fly in many countries. Otherwise, great job!!

I wonder how many times that rod has been repaired Amazing what they do Another reason to secondary safety chock your hydraulics Never work on an unsupported propped chassis as you don't know what can happen

I've tried to explain to others you shouldn't ever fully trust hydraulics to hold any load and never walk under anything supported by hydraulics including a forklift or crane boom but apparently I've got my head in the gutter and can only think of bad things happening.

As the truck pulls out of the shop you see the kind of driving that probably lead to a bent hydralic cylindar in the first place: driving on rough road with the box lifted in the air.

I'm sure that a new cylinder would cost many thousands of dollars. That rebuild would probably last almost as long. And it only cost a few pounds of Pistachio nuts.
