    I been using the Lucas power steering fluid stop leak for many months and I still have a slow leak. I diagnosed it to the power steering pump and replaced the o rings on the hoses connected to the pump. The old o rings were stiff and the Lucas stuff did not soften and rejuvenate them as marketed. My real fix was to order new o rings and install them myself.

    I have tried inserting an old O-ring into this fluid, and for 3 days there has been no change. The only noticeable thing is that sedimentation has begun to appear in the fluid from the O-ring itself and that a dark mark has appeared in the place where it was. I then placed a new O-ring in another container with this fluid and it became slightly thicker over the same period of days.

    I don’t know I read that in certain places, depending on where the leak is coming from like if it’s coming from a gasket for a pipe, it may not fix it

    If you’re hearing whining, it’s not from a leak. It’s from air in the system caused by the leak. Bleed the system BEFORE buying this. If the noise doesn’t go away, then fixing a small leak isn’t going to solve the problem. Just get a new pump and hoses. Wouldn’t be a bad time to replace the power steering oil cooler, power steering gearbox, and power steering pump and hoses if you have the money for it. The hardest part is removing the pump for most vehicles.

    Not clear what bleeding means. If sterring pump is working, it's pumping fluing through all the time together with bubbles, meaning there is no bubbles

    Can Lucas power steering stop leak be used for Honda vehicles? I was told by the ADV Auto parts manager that Honda's need special power steering fluid as they have different visocity levels?

    You only put the Lucas no need for the power steering fluid any more 🤔

  • @kelvinsgarage

    @kelvinsgarage

    Жыл бұрын

    No need to add power steering fluid because the system below (pump, hoses, rack) already contains the original power steering fluid. Only the volume of the reservoir is filled with the Lucas.

  • @emanuelbalbin2566

    And then what? Should we refill the reservoir with Lucas again or should we fill it with the regular power steering fluid

  • @kelvinsgarage

    @kelvinsgarage

    Жыл бұрын

    The power steering system will use the Lucas in place of the power steering fluid. The Lucas is a power steering fluid with stop leak agents inside of it. If it doesn’t work and you lose enough fluid to warrant a refill then the leak needs a professional repair.

    where is the actual leak coming from? this is a very unpromising "fix" this is more of a bandaid fix then anything

  • @kelvinsgarage

    @kelvinsgarage

    Жыл бұрын

    This is an easy, additive based fix so there was no diagnosing the leak. From what I can tell, if the fluid level is not dropping (or dropping as fast) then it should be stopping the leak. Again, this is not a replacement for a physical repair and I am not sponsored by Lucas, just sharing some knowledge!

    Hey man, sometimes a band-aid is what gets you to your next couple paychecks so you’re able to pay for an actual repair/replacement.
