I remember seeing a solution somewhere that fixed it, but it was a long time ago and I can't find it anymore and I can't remember what I did either. I remember turning off auto play like in this video, but I also remember having to delete something too, like there was an entire playlist somewhere of suggested and similar songs, and once I deleted it I was able to listen to my music again. Sorry this is so vague but I can't remember how I did it anymore since it was a good while ago

I’ve came up with another solution, all you have to do is make another playlist called “backup” or whatever you want and add all your songs back into that playlist and whenever you get a suggested song just switch between those two playlists. Hope it works for anyone who looks at this it worked for me.

If it still plays after off, here's what I suggest you to do: Go to the queue (the symbol next to the speaker) then click "Clear Queue" then refresh the queue, it should put your songs in your playlist in the queue now

Facts bro, and on mobile you can't even skip more than 6 of them per hour without it asking you for money so you're basically stuck listening to mid ahh songs till it ends

Similar but different question: Spotify is taking a play list and "enhancing" it with recommended songs. There's a little icon that you can toggle on or off. Problem is, even when it's OFF it's still playing these other songs! which i don't like. How do i get that to really be OFF??? thanks!

For those that still have the problem, go to the shuffle button beside the play button in your liked list. This button has 3 variations, shuffle, no shuffle, and shuffle with suggested songs. You can toggle between them by tapping it.

I need premium to turn off shuffle and they removed the gear so I can’t turn off auto play. I would have to get premium, which cost money and All Spotify wants is its money.

Thanks! Spotify’s decision to turn on an autoplay feature without notice or requesting user opt-in is extremely annoying. Spotify should compensate users for the irritation. Especially after autosuggesting new Coldplay. Yuck. Can Spotify fire the parties responsible for this?

My problem is/was slightly different. While I didn't have a issue with spotify playing suggested songs, in carefully chosen and built playlist, spotify had inserted songs that I didn't pick and played them where they appeared in the queue. The reason for this was that there is an "Enhance" button at the top left under the playlist (my name, etc). I enabled this thinking it enhanced the sound quality but that was wrong. Its actually enhancing my playlist. Turn this thing off. Useless feature and songs suggested are sh*t. So, ye turn that OFF

Hello, I don’t mind the recommended songs, however is there a way to get Spotify to play music as a radio station and not a playlist? More like SXM. When I hit the radio version it always plays the same songs based on recommendations or the same songs because they are a playlist

This does not work. I just signed up for premium, and auto play still plays the same songs over and over even when I chose a different song. I signed up for new music and not something that's looping. Pandora Radio beats Spotify in auto mixing songs. Only if Spotify AI fix this, it will be the GOAT of streaming music.

I've done all of those things and I still get suggested songs every 3rd song when playing a playlist.

How come it says “airplay or bluetooth” for the part where im supposed to select “this phone”

My issue is that there is 1 song it keeps playing that I hate, and even though I keep clicking "minus" to hide it from the recommended songs playlist (since it's not on my playlists) it won't give me an option to hide this stupid song forever. There is no option to hide a terrible song even with a paid subscription, even when I constantly stop it from playing and skip past it. Why can't I tell Spotify to never play the song again??

I think I’ve found the issue, mine was because I queue’d a playlist from my most listened and it kept play songs from there after playing a different playlist, just skip through all the songs. Then it should be normal

The only thing that worked for me was uninstalling/reinstalling Spotify and logging back in. It'll probably go back to only playing recommended songs, but it's fixed for now.

try clearing the queue. It worked for me

I noticed that Smart Shuffle was on, aposed to normal shuffle.

but if u play the song on your phone then where to turn it off?

Just doing that doesn’t work HOWEVER! The shuffle button now has another option, shuffle off, shuffle on, and smart shuffle. Smart shuffle will add suggested songs between your chosen songs in a playlist. So if you want to shuffle make sure it’s not on smart shuffle. (Smart shuffle is the shuffle icon in green with a couple of added stars around it)

I have the opposite issue… whenever a song ends nothing starts after that even tho I have autoplay on… anyone knows how to fix it?

Has Spotify ever explained itself in light of all the complaints? That’s the real issue - its apparent arrogance.

I mean, I'm cool with it playing suggested stuff after I've listened to an artist radio but when it randomly switches to a song radio while trying to just listen to my saved/liked songs. Fucks me off
