The biggest cause for procrastination is social media. You end up loosing so much energy and time in doing random stuffs that you actually end up not doing what's needed. So being concious of where and how we spend our energy and time will save you.❤

I disagree! We didn't have social media, smartphones, or fast internet in the 90s, but I always found creative ways to procrastinate. That usually involved watching TV or playing Super Nintendo. I suppose things haven't changed much, but I guarantee that the internet has exacerbated pre-existing issues. I think the key is self-regulation, and having the self discipline to stop doing something when you know you have higher pressing priorities.
@ToxicBerry2341

true. i go to take a break from homework to watch a couple of tiktok videos and suddenly it's 2 hours later
Two reasons I procrastinate. 1. I won't start a large task or job till I know that I have the energy and mental capacity to finish it to the end once I start it. 2. This one has been with me for projects in high school and college. I am a perfectionist, so if I give myself too much time on something, I will overwork myself, and it will never feel done. Given just the right amount of time towards the end of a due date, gives me a place that I must stop and feel okay to be done with it. That felt nice to write down.

Solutions: 1. just do it! OR you get more stress and anxiety. 2. One task at a time. 3. Get rid of distractions. 4. Take short breaks. 5. Drink water. 6. Exercise is focus pills.

@@Psych2go basically from 1:10 to 1:54 in the vid is the most relatable to me. I feel like I have too many things to do and that it'll take a zillion hours to do so I get overwhelmed by it and never end up doing it. And things can seem boring or uninteresting to me so I never tend to do those either.its common with school work and cleaning my room when it comes to those too. but since I have ADHD procastination comes from that. But it might not just be because of ADHD that I procastinate, it might be all those 3 reasons combine on why I do it
I cope with procrastination by focusing on the present moment. It helps a lot and not think about all the tasks left to do and be overwhelmed.

@@Psych2goThanks. I can't say I'm an expert I'm currently learning along the way. I made habits to do tasks. When some days I don't feel like following routine, I give myself an hour off or a day. After that, I feel like doing tasks again. Sometimes, it's important to procrastinate without feeling guilty.
I've been procrastinating about everyting lately, even the things that I loved the most. It's like I do nothing but sleeping all day, although I've already slept a lot, and if I'm not sleeping I'm using my phone, watching TikTok or Pinterest for hours and hours. I have a really important exam in June and I've barely study. I feel terrible about myself and I've been crying over it instead of changing it. I don't really know the cause to my procrastination and I think that's one of my biggest problems. I'm very grateful for this vid, I'll try to start studying right know, and I thought that writing down what I feel when I start procrastinating again may help me to understand myself and forgive me as well, so I can try new techniques. It's just easier to procrastinate than putting in the effort to achieve something. If there's no motivation or end goal in sight it is such a drag. Thanks for the tips though. I'll try to take regular breaks and have small bites on my plate instead of wolfing it all down in one go. One step at a time with a goal in mind.

Thanks for these tips, I’ll be sure to keep them in mind. One of the biggest reasons I procrastinate is because of anxiety over something that doesn’t even exist. Procrastination is the act of unnecessarily postponing decisions or actions. It’s a common problem, which can cause many issues, like missed opportunities and increased stress.
Honestly. I had this problem for a while. So, I will do whatever it takes to try not to fall into procrastination!
I'm struggling with procrastination, anxiety and binge eating for over a year now. I used to be the top student in my class but now my grades are not as good as before and what makes it even more difficult is my obsession with losing weight. I lost a lot of weight last year but now I gained it back and I'm so desperate now. I always say "I'll study tomorrow " or "I'll stick to the diet tomorrow" and stuff like that, but guess what? I never do. I can't talk to my parents about anything anymore because all they do is judge me and get mad, especially for binge eating. Now I have a friend to which I talk about my binge eating but I feel so embarrassed and like a weight on her back for having to hear all this. At first I thought that my weight gain was not noticeable but my PE teacher made fun of me in front of everyone. Now whenever a specific group of my classmates sees me they start saying: "Ooo I'm fat now, I ate so much during the school break", in a sarcastic tone. Being skinny and smart was my personality trait. Now I lost my self and title. I don't exercise anymore. I used to go to the gym but my parents don't let me go anymore because of my procrastination. I feel like I'm drowning. I would really appreciate it if you could make a video on how to stop binge eating. And if anybody read this, I would be more than thankful to hear if you have any tips to help me with my problems. Thank for reading and I wish you a good morning/ noon/ afternoon/ night.
Did you guys read my mind!?!? I was just thinking about this! And i do this allll the time thanks for talking about it ❤
“how to stop procrastinating” cool, i’ll watch it later
This was definitely an incredible and helpful video, and I will most certainly share this with others! Now, as for something I procrastinate on--while some of it is on stuff like healthy eating, homework, and such, my biggest one is writing. Long story short, I'm an aspiring professional fiction writer--whether I'm good or bad is up to everyone else--but due to a combination of just business with either school or work, as well as mild discouragement from family members (more, "Put this aside and focus on climbing the corporate ladder/getting a house/etc." and less, "You'll never be a writer, so don't even try,") I got into the habit of putting writing aside--even just hobbyist writing--for other things. I am getting better, and I even hope to publish some short stories this year, but even with what I've done to help stop procrastination and bad habits, this was an essential video to see!

Being a writer is very difficult so we understand how difficult it is to not procrastinate. However, writing can also be very enjoyable especially when we're in a creative flow. If you don't mind, would you be able to let us know what kind of stories you are writing or want to write?

@@Psych2go Yeah, definitely! It's actually one reason why I've not only gotten an English Degree in college as my first Bachelor's Degree (in case you are wondering--I'm currently working on also getting a Web Design degree as well, and will get it at the end of the year if all goes well). As for talking about what I like to write, I'd be more than happy to! I'm definitely oriented toward fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Still, I would like to get into other genres as well (perhaps even try and do some literary fiction one day), and I enjoy taking different genres--or even plot/character concepts from other genres--and mixing them together. Right now, I'm currently working on some short stories in a Science Fantasy universe I've developed--with said stories focusing more on personalized conflicts, such as a woman confessing her love to her best friend or a teenager about to go through a coming-of-age ceremony deciding what she wants to do in the world--but when I get into longer works, I want to focus on larger conflicts--with one longer book (either a novella or a short novel) being an adaption of Shakespeare's MacBeth, for instance. I also have some other projects planned or started, such as a blog where I want to discuss how to give new twists on classic fantasy concepts (races, characters, settings, etc.), but since there's so much I don't want to take up too much of your time. Thanks for asking!
I needed to see this! ❤

I have this problem, because my ADHD and I hope this and my therapist can help me .
I usually do great on tests but always say "I'm going to practise to be more fluent in this language". But I end up just doing what I have to, and sometimes in the last minute. I hate that, but I want to change. I really want to change this time. I'm going to try, even if I take time, I will really try this time. I hope I can improve. Cheer up everyone who is going through something similar. I don't want to live like this anymore. I don't. Thanks for making the video :)

Aight imma put this video on watch later
I procastinate on cleaning my room the most. I can just never get it done. But I also procastinate on other things like schoolwork and such. ADHD sucks (that's where my procastination comes from, though the first 2 points before that I also relate to) and if I'm gonna be honest, I'll just end up procastinating on stopping procastinating
I did put this video in ”watch later” so i could watch it another time
I procrastinate on household chores, like washing dishes... I've learned that what helps me is to put some good music on that hypes me up, and tell myself that it's ok to only do the bare minimum. For example, unloading the top rack of the dishwasher. If I feel good, I'll do more. If I don't, then it's ok. :) I have ADHD, so I try to work around that.
What things will look like in a month or a year is not today's concern. There is no need for anxiety tonight. Your goals are only a guiding light. You are welcome to think about them. That is not the same as wanting to control the future or letting it control you. Your vision can inspire you, but your focus remains on what you can do immediately. You will only ever stay in the present moment. Let the night fortify all the knowledge you have been building here. Whatever the future brings, you will be better equipped for it.

one day later and im still watching yt.... ok but seriously i did get better with reducing procrastination
I cut down on my procrastination by changing the reasons why I do things. Instead of doing things because I HAVE to, instead, I choose to do things to be kind to future me. I gotta say, future me is thriving because past me cares so much!
thanks for the video! i'll watch it later tho
I love my passion as an illustrator. Although I think, I'm beggining to become a procratinator somehow. I feel like my working place is not supportive enough on a project that I'd made. But the good side is, the other branch of our university is more interested on my works than my own society.
As someone who is actually overwhelmed by a big test that will define my future, this vid help a lot to stop procrastinating 😊 Hi from a French ❤
