Omfg, I have been dealing with this for decades. Tried different guns, clicking the thumb release etc.. The amount of wasted caulk, let alone time. And this comes along now. I’m almost pissed that it was this easy. Bro, thx

@@BlueDart1971 Almost every tube of Dap brand caulk has the infamously (and purposely in my opinion), placed bubble around 3/4 to the bottom end of the tube. It is designed to create constant waste and better sales for the Dap corporation. I found over my years of painting and caulking that before coming to the end of your caulk bead application , you release the pressure on the gun and continue squeezing the tube with the other bead smoothing hand till the end of the bead is completed. The bubble will depressurize because the tube is indented from the sides from squeezing with the hand and the continuous splooging from the tip will be non existent.

What if you don't want to use the whole tube at once? Does the holes in the bottom dry it up? Do you cover those?

Nice tip buddy but what effect does it have on the caulk if it’s not used and left in the tube for weeks or months?

what is the best way to store the caulk after it has been pierced in the back? also does the caulk leak from the back end?

Cut the finger off of a rubber glove and wrap around top. Gently depress a little caulk out and it will dry inside glove at the tip keeping the inside of the tube from drying.

@lowesjoinery3031 where does the excess pressure/caulk go, if not the front or back? If it's not leaking out the front then one would think the caulk would be coming out the back.

Two forces at play - push and pull (release). When you squeeze the handle of the caulking gun and let go, ideally the plunger would retract just a bit to release pressure. But it seldom does with such viscous material inside temporarily suctioning it in place. So there are two options: 1. Allow the pressure to release through flow out of the tip, or 2. Remove the applied pressure by allowing the plunger to rebound. The small slits in the tube’s plunger allow it to retract a tiny bit with incoming air while retracting just enough to release pressure in the cartridge.

Soo i cut the back of the tube like you showed me, and the caulk still comes out the orher end exactly the same as it was... and yes im releasing pressure

Don't work with Pl Premium . Dammit ! I was so psyched. Now I feel crushed. I even cut the plunger cap end out of a used one so the glue didnt ooze out the back all over my gun. Now it drools out both ends . I tried other glues but nothing works as good.

It doesn’t work unless you release the tension by unclicking the lock in the back, which you did.

I applied caulking and silicone for years at different temperatures, and this remains a pain in the neck. Your magic trick sounds nicer, but i don't believe it. There's a build-up pressure with air bubbles in the product, and factories know it. Cutting the bottom will just release air... in the bottom. It's not rocket science. But I do know that if you open your tube from a warmer room to a colder application room, it will help rather than the reverse. Common sense, right?

HERE’S THE FIX: Get a burgundy colored ‘Newborn’ gun! It is *truly* drip-free & a game changer for me! When you release the trigger it actually *stops* ! In the U.S., some (not all) Lowe’s carry them & they’re only like $12!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
