You forget one thing, Khabib has total confidence in himself, the man technically hasn't lost a single round inside the octagon. Not making any predictions here, but for anyone to say Khabib is psychologically compromised like Aldo, Poirer, and Alvarez were is insane. Also, remember that Khabib has footage of Conor recently getting outclassed and gassing out badly, he knows as long as he keeps his cool and closes the distance the win is all his. Tough to make an official prediction though, it's a solid match up. It all comes down to Conor's ability to control the distance and keep Khabib off him long enough to land heavy shots.

I'm so pleased you covered this, Charlie! I'm a psych graduate and long-time MMA and Charisma On Command viewer. At first I thought Conor was going a bit crazy at the press-conference, but I honestly think he was purposely portraying himself as a 'wild, drunk man'. He was prepared for the language barrier, so he knew that a number of the insults wouldn't get through to Khabib. However, a change to his body language and swaying from his norm can easily be read (wanting Khabib to think he is drunk/continuously drinking and is emotionally invested in the fight). He's aware that Khabib isn't going to 'fear' anyone on the roster in a fight-with-rules and grew up in serious/difficult circumstances (compared to most other UFC fighters) and trains with a number of larger, extremely successful UFC fighters. What Conor did portray though, is a wild, emotional, drunk man who would like to 'kill' Khabib inside or outside of the Octagon. This tactic is intended to get Khabib out of that comfortable, composed mindset and approach towards a fight-with-rules, and into a more emotional, defensive, ego-based mindset towards the fight. This, paired with the family and cultural taunts are all Conor had to work with. In my eyes, the fight could go either way, but I'll be cheering for Khabib!

Pretty good video. Pay extra attention the the stare off, that represents the culmination and the byproduct of everything that lead up to it. Khabib is staring him straight in the eyes, and Conor's eyes kept lowering, diverting away, using his mouth instead, saying "blue lips" over and over again. His mouth is his greatest weapon but it's a double edged sword, and he cut himself unfortunately. To look someone straight in the eyes while articulating complex sentences is not easy; its ease is dependent on one's level of comfort. If one is relaxed while making eye contact, you your ability to articulate becomes heightened. But if one is scared, one's ability to articulate complex sentences and expressing complex ideas, which is dependent on how comfortable one is, becomes completely stifled. And we've seen Conor do that, even speaking a bit of Portuguese to Aldo while maintaining strong eye contact. But with Khabib, he just kept repeating the same simple lines over and over again while not only diverting his eyes but lowering them. I think Khabib is more confident going in, he has the position of strength. I love Conor, have been a huge fan of his before he was well known, and always celebrated his victories. He is still one of my favorite fighters, but I also Khabib so much as well. And I would have to give it to him. Either way, it should be an amazing fight by two of the best fighters who represent total opposite poles in so many ways. This would not be possible without either one of them, so Khabib fans shouldn't hate on Conor, and Conor fans shouldn't hate on Khabib. Let's just celebrate two amazing fighters.

Exactly. After the blue lips remark. He told him "relax". Basically calm down. It's all for show. Hence, while eating slaps "like woman..like baby", Connor said "it's just business". It's a suttle way of saying. "Man.. I was just playing. I meant not harm".

lol the reason none of this worked on Khabib like it did on other fighters is because of reasons that you touch on at 3:45. All of the things that Conor said hurt his prior opponents because they felt insecure when he talked about their accomplishments. Khabib clearly doesn't have such insecurities. This is likely because of the way he was raised... He doesn't have vices like an overwhelming ego. Everything Conor said to him was just words be spoken. Khabib seems very secure and humble... He always credits his victories to God and thus seems to grip that everything that he has ever accomplished has been in some way a blessing from another. I think it is amazing to watch how a humble fighter is able to outthink this 'mental warfare.'

Why don't a lot of you "KZread Body Language,Mental Health Experts" talk about the final face off at the end of the presser when Conor was so riled up he started screaming expletives at Khabib's manager Aziz and Khabib walked away smiling? That was the first I've seen Conor genuinely get angry;these 2 men absolutely hate each other and Khabib is in Conor's head as much as Conor is in Khabib's head. This is the first time I've seen Conor emotionally invested in a fight and he's nervous, both men are;at the face off Conor couldn't look Khabib straight in the eye and his eyes kept darting between Khabib's lips and forehead while Khabib had the stare of a man who wants to commit a murder . Personally I don't think this mental warfare is going to work to either of these 2 men's advantage, the fight will be won by the one who best sticks to his gameplan.Cheers!

I think the fact that Khabib addressed the fact that Conor may be in his head allowed him to address this issue. He went on to say it wouldn't stop him from sticking to his gameplan. I think maturity and humility helped him in this case.
