Love your pigeon video. We caught some street pigeons when I was a kid and homed them. We lived in San Deigo Ca and my grandma lived in Anaheim, well over 100 miles. We would take our two pigeons to her house and let them go. We would spend the night up there and when we got home the next day the pigeons would be home. Such great pets and so fun to fly them.

I flew my racing homing pigeons 500 miles and they come home on the day unless there is bad weather with birds over a year old. 300 miles as a young bird under 6 moths old, come home same day or next morning facing a headwind or storm. They do have 1,000 mile pigeons as well. I had a few but never flew them that far. Pigeons are fun.

Dope vid! I was on a roof today doing some a/c work. The neighbor just released them prior to me getting on roof. It took me back when i was a kid and friends all had them in neighborhood. I loved seeing them fly together as one! Pretty cool shit! Took my mind off fishing for a bit!😂👍💯👊

Africans have to worry about the honey burger too. That thing is stubborn. as a pegion owner growing up this takes me back to childhood. If there is one thing that i regret in life is not giving them a proper house. I really like this house..i would build this house for them and bring them back. Love for pegions is deeply rooted in my heart. I don't know the difference btw pegions and doves.. but mine were mostly white with pink peak and pinkish eyes, or mixed colours, if you need to train pegion for racing choose a black male, or a brown pegion. They can come back from 100s of miles farewell

A racing bird that has been homed will always leave another loft for home. I may take 6 months or a year or 2 but one day you will open the door and it will be out over your head . Once I looked at a prisoner bird on a nice spring morning and knew he was not coming back when I opened that trap to exercise them and he did not. A 10 yr. old racer blue bar is the one that flew right over my head. I was told he was from the Bronxs and I 200 miles away.I had nkow attentions of giving him freedom.

Homing pigeons are usually anywhere from $10 to $50 depending on the seller. And yes most pigeons with good pedigree and the right training can come back from up to several thousand miles away. It is best to start with pigeons about 8 weeks old. Older pigeons can also be retrained to a new home but pigeons of any age should be kept in the loft at LEAST 1 month before you begin training. There are plenty of sites that have good training info. If you do get pigeons I have some good training methods I can share :).

Normally that door would have one-way swinging bars on them and the pigeons are trained how to walk through those. He probably has it open because it's flying time so they can exit and fly around in the sky to exercise.

I think this is a hobby for most people. They find the birds fascinating. So the "payoff" is the entertainment value. I suppose you could learn to breed them and sell them, teach a class or write a book, and maybe make some money, but, again, I going to assume that these are people who love these birds.

If ya just throw away th eggs they will lay again to soon so after a few days after laying second egg pick up egs an shake the shit out of them. Replace back in nest. Do that a few times. That will stop the embryo forming but they will keep sitting untill they give up waiting for thdm to hatch. Last longer then just throwing eggs away.

Shameful that you're using pigeons to train your dogs. You should have perches for your feral pigeons as pigeons like to perch and not being on the ground all the time. But, you plan to kill them anyway so what the hell regarding their comfort. :(
