    As a 7 year larper here are my tips that will help as well. Keep your character backstory and they way they act in a simple way at first till your more comfortable in rp. Adding on to footwear. Wear what you are comfortable in. You do t need to buy the $600 leather boots to fit in. As long as your safe,that's all that matters. Dont be afraid to throw yourself into the main plot. Even if you cant do much, you still get an idea of what's going on. And you never know, you may have an idea that might work.

    Ordered an orc mask a few weeks ago for a (at home) Halloween party in a few months. Then I figured I needed a more elaborate costume to go with it... And now here I am, tumbling down the LARP rabbit hole hard. 😁 It honestly looks a like a lot of fun.

    As a 5 year LARPer, I want to say - This video is amazing and Im so happy I found it. I'm packing currently for my game in December (we have a game almost every single month for a weekend at a time) I'm Upstate NY. The LARP has been going on for about 17(?) Years. We're called Kingdoms of Novitas. So if you're ever around, give us a go! $30/weekend and it includes food and bunk ^^

    1. We are light touch (def not lightest, tho). You could wind up with bruises, but that's definitely not something that people are gunning for. 2. When you're asleep, you're off limits for being in game, even if your bed is in game. No one is going to touch you while you're catching Zs. 3. We are constantly trying to be better and better with inclusivity. You'll rarely find anyone who is racist/homophobic/transphobic/etc. We'll take care of it quick when it is brought up.

    If you larp in connecticut you should attend myth larp. They put alot of effort into making it very immersive and the plots are amazing.

    Just 2days ago I joined a larp discord group, unfortunately with covid in our country we are not allow events or gathering. Once we're out of the red light and into green I'll be able to go to my first larp☺ This video really helped and made me feel more comfortable.

    ive been larping for a bit but took a break recently and am changing to a new, less battle heavy larp. one thing i like about it is that, when buying tickets, you can decide your character’s importance to the story that weekend.

    I'm socially awkward even amongst friends. I plan on starting an adventure alone but im a little worried that I won't be able to make friends when I'm there(I am friendly and keep good hygiene, its just I often never really know how to talk to people). Have you seen people like that, and did they make friends?

  • @TeaforTinka

    @TeaforTinka

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes! 100%, if you're friendly and nice you'll definitely be able to make friends. Actually I think LARP is the best place for it. There's a lot of things going on to ask questions about so it's easy to start a conversation. At the 2 larps I go to we try extra hard with the new folks, maybe giving free drinks, inviting on missions, even keeping an eye on them in battles so they won't die. I went basically all by myself, I vaguely knew 1 person there and had a great time. And if you're awkward, give your character a goal or personality trait which helps the RP move forward. My characters loud and obnoxious, my friends character asks around to get hired to make money. All good ways to get into a good RP.

I know theres a ton of games in western Mass and northern but I haven't been able to check them out yet!

    I’m going to a LARP summer camp and I’ve never done anything like this before, I’m also quite new to character creation. The camp has one big larp at the end of the week and you don’t know what it will be, zombies, fantasy, etc are all on the table. Do you have any suggestions for a character to start with? Also this video was super helpful! Thank you!

  • @TeaforTinka

    @TeaforTinka

    That sounds like so much fun! I got 3 suggestions: Think about what you want from the game, do you want heavy RP? Do you want something silly and fun? Do you want to fight? Make something around that! It also can help to pick 3 or 4 different characters from media you like to get some vibes of your character. For example a game I just went to I had a character which was a combo of Luna Lovegood, Raven, and Mavis Last is be flexible! Your character will change when you actually play them and that's totally fine! Have fun with it!

    How does being an NPC generally work in a LARP? You mentioned it's an easy position to start out in if it's your first time, but what do you do?

  • @TeaforTinka

    @TeaforTinka

    2 жыл бұрын

    My main larp has a couple hour NPC shift at game! During that you get some tasks from the story teller. Ex they give you certain tasks like "you are a group of robbers, these are your stats, this is your back story, go wander the road and attack players for 2 hours" and you just go and play NPCs It's a good way to practice combat without harming your character and a great way to practice RP! Some larps don't have them, especially the really pricy ones, but local larps usually do
