"Move, sing, and hold each other." I watched a Ted talk once about "colonization of mental health" which was really amazing. The lady talked about wonderful African traditions of singing, dancing, and storytelling used in healing, and I thought how effective that would be for all of us here in Western society ... terribly alienated from each other and made to "fit in" to someone else's idea of structure. I like Dr. Bessel van der Kolk a lot; thank you for sharing this 😊

Absolutely, it's nice to hear that you connect with the video's message! 😊 The Ted talk you mentioned sounded quite informative, emphasizing the significance of embracing varied cultural approaches to mental health and well-being. You are entirely correct; the Western civilization can learn a great deal from the rich traditions of other nations. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk's work is truly amazing, and we're glad you found this video useful. Let us keep exploring these concepts together in order to build a sense of togetherness and healing in our own lives. Thank you for contributing with your thoughts! 💫🌍🌟

@@robynhope219 Bless! Nothing wrong with that... you must have your reasons. I realise I have CPTSD, which has never been properly addressed. I like hugging my husband, but invariably he'll think it's a prelude to sex, which annoys me, and now realise he has his own problems. . Even after 35 yrs in Italy, I still don't feel comfortable with it. Even with my son, hence why I'm here. I never got any affection as a child. It's no wonder we're fuc**ed up. Don't beat yourself up about and be grateful that you've discovered this guy. You should read the book...it's fantastic and has changed my life....I just want to explore more. Today saw a pain specialist who practically admitted that pain killers don't work for victims of trauma FFS. Was amazed and grateful to know that. xxxx

He reached their hearts. The heart is more powerful than the brain. Professionals are too stuck on the brain. Am so fatigued with pictures of the disembodied brain. Brain worship. What about brain heart coherence? A big field. The heart knows the way.

What really helped ease my anxiety to trauma responses was mindfulenss meditation, I used a mindfulness book called "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels and it taught me some good ways to quickly allow the thoughts to dissipate.
