NYC is a different beast altogether, given its high prices and supersaturation of practices, but high volumes nonetheless. I have been debating between different business models. I just got out of sports medicine fellowship and I want to start my own practice in 3 years. I consider buying or building property rather than renting. I am even saving downpayment for that without my own house yet. what do you think about this approach?

Hi doctor, I have a question that I didn't really find any answer yet: I am planning to open my practice, but for the credentialing they need the business address- that means I need to rent the place before the the whole process...and the whole process will take 6 month according to the credentialing company, that means I had to pay 6 month rent without even getting any insurance patients yet... Did you have this problem or do you have any suggestions for that? Thank you so much!

I subleased from someone so I just started getting mail there earlier than my start date and that is how I got around that. However, they will accept often a PO box for mailing address which is what a lot of people do. You can always change your address with the insurance companies too, which was surprisingly easy.
