Recently picked up a GMT 2 Pepsi from the AD. The top of the bezel doesn’t line up perfectly at the top of the dial, but I know the watch is legit. My point is not all watches from Rolex are without flaws.

I think when mentioning “Buy with papers”, you should also add “But these too can be counterfeited”

904L steel is not proprietary. It's used in the food making factory equipment. It's just a little softer then 316.

6:30 Is it? Super clones are so close to genuine watches because manufacturers do not put $10k of parts into a $10k watch, naturally. It’s more like $1k or $2k. Maybe less. So a $500 clone gets pretty darn close.

rolex was not the first to use 904l steel. it was omega in the Plo Prof in 1972. they called it uranus steel, which is the same as 904L technically. Just wasnt called 904L

Avi, this episode highlights how careful a buyer (even Luxury Bazaar) needs to be when not buying from a Rolex Authorized Dealer. Even Peter caught two fake Rolexes in his short time onboard that came in Luxury Bazaar's door. So what is LB's inspection/authentication process? How do I know when I get a Rolex from LB that someone has inspected the watch, even opening up the case, so I know with confidence that LB was not fooled and passed along a fake. Please explain.

Cyclops window is exactly 2.5x, anything else fake. Bezel clicks around the dial exactly 60 times (one per minute), the clasp should shut like a steel trap. No matter how old the watch is, the clasp aligned logo should NEVER be off. The links in the bracelet should never be loose enough to make a rattling sound, there should be no space for arm hair to poke through the links. Most high end copies fail these basic checks.

Actually ypu can get aftermarket case backs that are see through I bought one and hade it engraved as well and it's on my one sub but I kept the original case back and I don't go near water or anything with it just in case ❤️ but I like the look of seeing the movement through the case back 🙂

One dead giveaway is when they lazer inscribe the writing inside the clasp and they stretch the word rolex, blue tint date window, bracelet is to thick, bezel is to wide ext.ext

Came across a Rolex Oyster perpetual superlative chronometer officially certified cosmograph DAYTONA with WINNER ROLEX AD DAYTONA 1992 24. THere's no winding to it .? Is there a way to send you a video of the watch?

This is a topic that has been talked about for years. It's concerning though because the fakes have become so good. Especially what they refer to as the Super Clones. And they are just getting better. There may be a time one day because the Chinese are that good, when you will not be able to tell the difference. We're not there yet but one day it may make buying a watch on the second hand market a lot more risky. It may help Rolex because the only way to be 100% certain you're getting the real thing is to buy from them.

Sinjin, you are correct that the Super Clones are that good. The good news is that Rolex knows this and is adding engravings not only on the dial and inner bezel, but I also have seen videos that Rolex adds an etched crown logo inside of the case on certain parts. Definitely a cat & mouse game for sure that forces buyers to be aware.

But, If I'm trying to start a watch flipping makes no sense to BUY from a DEALER....cheers

Although I was apprehensive, I decided to give swissarex a try after reading customer evaluations. Glad I did, too!

This is really going to help people that watch this, thanks Avi! Peter has really stepped up his game, his knowledge of Rolex is surprising, I'm very impressed! 👍

Some of the older Cellini models have a see through case back. I get Avi might not know that but Peter should.

If you want to invest, buy the real one, if you want to just wear the watch and enjoy, buy the rep.

My experience with swissarex was fantastic. The watch arrived quickly and was exactly as described.

If you film the dial with a smart phone in slo mo, you can count the beats

I hate it when people say, "oh look how close they can get their watches to look like Rolex, just shows how much more Rolex is charging." First of all, they AREN'T the same quality. The machinery that they use isn't anywhere as industrial or precise. The ceramic bezel numbers are always painted on, and not cut into and powdered with platinum. The movement isn't even close as accurate or as butter to wind. In fact, the watch isn't even as well made as a Tissot, and how much do Tissot's cost? There's always a market for fake watches. It's for those who want people to notice them and want to appear more wealthy, nothing more. Those who say, "oh I buy fake because Rolex is overcharging, or oh if I only buy because I can't get from AD", that is all BS. For the same amount of money to buy a fake, you could get a very decent Seiko or Tissot. It comes with warranty too, and you can sell it too.

Let me save everyone 30 minutes... Open the case back. All Rolex movements have a free sprung balance wheel. NONE of the fakes do. Takes less than a minute.

Fakes,clones,Frankenstein’s will always have a telling sign and there prices reflect that. There are some that are absolutely perfect, however you want get those at the same prices because they’re actually sold as real.

You don't need a loop, or even look at it. Take the band off and check for serial numbers between the lugs

Come to Miami, you’ll see a fake Rolex/RM/AP on every corner.

The good news is that a lot of the robbers/thugs/gang bangers tend to not do robberies or sudden snatching of watches here as they know the chances are high of being laughed at when they try to sell it.

The super reps make it really hard to tell, even with a loup. Take a super clone that was modded with gen parts and it takes an expert to tell. What makes it yet harder, is that the genuine watches aren't flawless either.

…and remember Rolex did not make the first diver bezel… Blancpain presented the first unidirectional bezel on its iconic Fifty Fathoms diver in 1954.😉

I think best way to know if rolex genuine Open case back and Check the movement mechanism Free sprung balance wheel Microstella screws Paraflex shock absorbers Parachrom bleu hairspring etc. On super clones they might copy and make it look like a full balance bridge but they cant replicate above mentioned On modern omega. Above mentioned also applies. But for omega its easy. Check if it is on a co axial mechanism.😅

I own a leica m3 that was produced the day I was born. Doubt Rolex serial number production dates are readily available

I've been a customer of swissarex for a while now and have never been disappointed. The quality of their watches is amazing.

Labor Is crazy cheap in China when you have someone making .50 cents an hour compared to 35.00 or 40 and hr in Switzerland. No marketing needed and from my understanding there is not a lot of manual labor involved in making Rolexes anymore. Most is done by machines and China has the same machines

There is an exact weight for Rolex watches. Why can’t you just weigh them?
