    Great video but id be concerned that the wire isn't tinned. What about some thread lock? Had you any issues since installing this splice?

    great to see another common sense solution , my booster cable, 25 ft, 4 gauge was on sale at $12.49 at Princess Auto(Canada). I really hate spending $ when I do not have to, thanks for video....

    I did this years ago to extend my tiller mounted trolling motors, kept the terminal clamps on. I will tell you that any connections with un tinned copper will corrode.

    I have a 12v 45lb thrust trolling motor. It has 10 Guage wire now could I splice 8 Guage to extend it. ?

    I would put some dielectric grease inside to prevent corrosion as well

    I added dielectric grease into a crimp connector. Every wire slid out out of the crimp because of the slickness of it. Very frustrating.. It led me to this youtube search. Lol. I'm gonna try these without the grease, or add it to the outside only.

    I do like the splice connector. That's exactly what I was looking for, but I wonder how long the wire will last since it's not marine wire? I always thought you needed to use tinned copper for marine wire.

    Im in fresh water, been using this method for years with no prob. Salt water use you might want marine wire

    Booster cable is mostly plastic and not true awg . If you want to do it right get some 0gauge ofc

    Hey, great video and kit. My trolling motor positive & negative silver cable is 8 awg. Question is could I use and splice a 16 awg extension copper cable kit to my battery? Jump lead cable is a thicker gauge?

    I would not... you could go 10ga but no thinner

    I have two of these units new out of box they will not pull up and anchor 30lbs I used 8 Gauge and 10 Gauge they pull the voltage down on the battery and won’t pull up anchor

    Ive mounted 4 of them all work perfect . I assume your using the wrong kind of wire. You must use jumper cable wire, have a good splice and a good battery. I have friends with them as well and no problems

    Is this still the right link to the cables, they are $25 now. Walmart search shows the same description "300 Amp 8 Gauge Jumper Cables" for $13.99 but i don't know if they are the same or copper clad.

    @@addismultitasking3504 I need 50amps for my 55lb trolling motor. If the cables are only 8 gauge they may not be enough, so im looking at 6 gauge, unless i can find 8 awg 10 feet marine jumper cables. It looks like it is getting harder to find good copper cables now, or i just dont know what im doing.

    5 ft distance, 8AWG. And for 10 ft distance 6 AWG.
