Love the passion you portray in your video and you've got a great speaking voice that's clear and easy to listen to. Subscribed!
I have the AWE touring with the black tips and it's worth every single penny. The quality is unreal and there is absolutely ZERO drone in 6th gear. I love it and it's not overly obnoxious.
Love your channel man. i just bought a 17 WRX as a daily driver. Iv never owned a import always had a ford or chevy had 2 svt cobras before always domestic. Did have a 06 Hyundai Tiburon as a daily had to put it to rest and got in the market for a new daily and decided to dip my feet in the subaru world. So far I gotta say I love the car amazing car. Like my old daily my Hyundai I still like to do little modifications to my dailys nothing crazy just clean simple mods that take no function or reliability out the car or experience of the car and your channel is the perfect channel for new WRX owners like me. Keep the content going man 🤙
This may be your best one yet....moderate power, suspension and concerns about noise was really, really helpful. Plan to copy you basically. Lapis Blue too on this end.
Your fitment and over all look makes me excited. Can't wait to get started on mine.
Good solid realistic DIY parts list. I did basically the same mods for my 2015 WRX and then some. The only part that I thought that might have made your list is the GetADomTune Cylinder 4 Cooling System. I understand this is a significant EJ issue.
You built one of the best VA STis I've ever seen. I was sad when you sold it. Top notch, the stance the look, it was one of the best!
Love your ride dude. I've been debating my next vehicle. This inspired me to consider an STi. Maybe next gen once we see the rollout. Great message at the end too, very kind soul.

It's just about what I maxed out at for power/cosmetic mods when I had my 2011 sti.
Great video and absolutely beautiful car! I would literally have it the same way! Can't wait to own one. Liked 👍
I just got my first wrx 2020 .can’t wait to have the money to spend on it and tune it up real nice..nice car and good video..
Your car looks fantastic! I will certainly go suspension first, wheels, then exhaust!
I would do the same thing you did back then with my STi now. Your videos are great even in retrospect, your M series is cool....
The car is sick man and great idea for a video. I think I am only about $3500 CAD in mods on my '16 STI, not including my Britax child car seat. The COBB SS Catback was the first mod I did a month after I got it. Now that it's out of warranty, I went with the AP and OTS Stage one tune. I did add a K&N air filter but got worried and put the stock one back in because of the alleged low filtration and possible MAF sensor issues. My F1 4th brake light is in the mail too. Love the last bit at the end of this video!

I’m pretty sure the stock sway bar size is 24mm front/20mm rear. You went bigger than the front by 1mm. I believe that would make the car more prone to oversteer. Has it been running alright. I know it’s a DD so you probably aren’t going crazy with it.

Great video bud 😊 you have a new subscriber from Perth W. Australia 🤗 I currently own a 2019 Mk7.5 Golf R.... but I'm getting the itch to change it out for a new 2021 STi Spec R...... can I ask, how does your STi go against Golf R's (Stage 1 vs Stage 1)? Cheers, Don
@Scoobyfreak86
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks or the support! Golf r’s are no joke. They are a great bang for the buck and can make a lot of power on little money. However, the golf r doesn’t feel as driver focused. It’s a blast to drive, but the STI is much more raw and geared towards an engaging experience. Golf r stage 1 will without a doubt feel quicker than the STI at stage 1. But for me, it’s not about the power. It’s about how the car feels overall. The STI feels way better overall to me.
@DonsShed
2 жыл бұрын
@@Scoobyfreak86 yer, that's what I was thinking..... when I bought my Golf R.... it was (and still is, in Australia anyway) the only Sportscar with a Turbo 4wd for the money which also has an Auto gearbox. I bought an Auto as that's the only car my wife can drive.... but in the 2yrs of ownership, she's only driven my Golf once!!! If I knew that, I would have bought a manual (stick shift) STi or Focus RS!!! LOL..... Thanks for getting back to me so fast and answering my question. Cheers, Don
Was there a specific reason for going with Perrin rather than Whiteline with their extra support brackets for the sway bar?
@Scoobyfreak86
3 жыл бұрын
White line has a bad history of parts rusting overtime. Their coating is thin and tends to crack. They also only offer up to 24mm. I wanted the largest rear bar offered, which is 25 by perrin. I didn’t go with the support brackets either since I ran those on my wrx and didn’t find the need on this one.

So what suspension mod would you recommend for someone who isn’t used to the lowered car life/has never lowered their car?
@gheygladiator

I would do springs that has a slight drop. Once you go lowered life, you gotta be more mindful of all the pot holes and bumps on the road, I have a hard time getting in and out of my driveway. What’s the difference between Sti and wrx ?
Just to clarify a few things if I spend around 5k or more on parts like FMIC, Full exhaust, Downpipe, AOS, FPR, Fuel injectors/Pump etc...would that matter if I install all parts at once? As long as I get a base map to use in the meantime before a pro tune I’m good?😅
@Scoobyfreak86

Every part you add you would need a revision in your tune. Your best bet is to get everything you want, install all at once, and got for a tune. It’ll cost more in the long run to add parts and retune each time.

@@Scoobyfreak86 That is fair. I just wanted to throw it out there so we can save some fellow subie owners their ring lands. When i was new to owning a WRX i didn't even know about the mod. Its not something super talked about. You have a very pretty STI keep up the good work.
I was about to ask what camber you're running until I saw the stock LCAs. I have FA gen 7s with the radial bearing set to full stiff and they squeak at low speeds over bumps. I had them at 9 clicks from soft and they seem to not make any sound but I was getting a lot of rubbing from bumps. Set to full stiff and they don't rub anymore. I was afraid of putting in a thicker rear sway bar and heard nothing but complaints about the creaking/squeaks. I had to replace my rear end links because the stock ones were ripped and thought I bought oem ones. The "oem" ones were a lot thicker than the ones from the factory. Great Video.. I recently picked up a 2020 STI. After a few months to save some cash for parts and shop cost. I live in DT Seattle so I don’t have access to a garage area :( Plus I’m not the best at installs..... My first install was Swift sport lowering springs, Rear lower control arms, upgrade sway bar, adjustable end links. I figured it would be cost effective to have the rear done at once and an alignment afterwards... Next will be the front half. . Bump-Steer/Roll Center kit ( if i need it, still torn on this one ) trying to do more research on that Thoughts??? sway bar upgrade, end links, pitch stop upgrade and another alignment. That’s my plan for the front end. Figured i can do it in stages.

If you have the means to purchase an STI, go for it. But keep in mind, buying and affording are 2 different things. It can get expensive very quickly!

is it better to get a 2018 sti for 35k with 10k miles or a 2015-2016 for 28-30k 30k miles? i cant seem to find any drastic difference between the 2018/2019 over the 2015-17 ... holla

Miles aren’t as important as the maintenance history. I’d rather own a car with 100k with extensive maintenance history than a newer car with 20k and no history. Just my 2 cents.

@@Scoobyfreak86 makes sense, appriciate the response. Is there a major difference between those years though? They look pretty identical besides minor things here and there.

Besides the cosmetic differences, they upgraded the internals in the 2019 motor. I would go for a 19+ if I did it all over again.
