I did oil skip for the first time today, it just felt amazing when I finally pulled it off after all the attempts! One time I actually clipped inside one of the cubes!

I finally decided to try to give this a try for fun after having zero speedrun experience whatsoever, and.... Oil skip is going to be the death of me, but I'm legitimately interested in trying this out so I guess I'll just grind it out.

It took many hours of effort, but it's finally here. Thank you so much for this incredible gift to the community, and for letting us be a part of it.

Amazing, the amount of dedication this required is so admirable. Even as someone who's been running this game for a few months (and has been learning about it for over a year), I learned so many things I didn't know existed, like backups or small optimizations. So happy that this is finished, and I can't wait to see how the community grows because of it!

This tutorial is perfect for this particular veteran returning after a long hiatus.

I remember learning this game 3.5 years ago. I had to use two of your tutorials and some random runs to make a route and there were barely 50 runners. Now, with this and the new site, learning this game will be so much more accessible to newer people! Great job!

The SBA and Cruise Boost gags were hillarious and the Cruise Boost explanation was the best I've ever seen, this is a really great tutorial. Also, showing backups and alternatives is really helpful. Very well done.

To this day it still amazes me how the fun, casual, and whimsical game I played as a kid requires SO much skill, knowledge, and patience to crack open like this. I haven't been enjoying the speed running scene that long, but from what I have seen this game probably takes some of the most amount of skill, patience, and inhuman timing to pull off competitively. Not to mention that SHiFT is the kind of personality with an enthusiasm and drive for the game that is frankly infectious. Makes me want to try! You're the man!

Honestly this is an amazing tutorial, very well made and really got me into speed running this game, although some tricks were quite hard i felt so accomplished actually getting better at them. This game is beyond fun speed running

14:26 The part where you jump over the wall to the 3rd part of bikini bottom was way more easier than I expected.

I just finished learning the route, part 1 and 2 surprisingly wasn’t so bad but getting the hang of cruise boosting was difficult. I got inspired to speedrun the game after I decided to casually 100% the game a few weeks ago and found your 48:58 run and thought it looked fun to run. Very nice explanations! I've never attempted anything like these tricks but I did the goo lagoon levitation/skeeball abuse with a friend for a laugh and it actually worked.

I used to play this game with my brother when I was 6 years old. I'm now 20 and It popped back into my head only a few days ago and man, I'm impressed how optimized the speedrun is. Did not expect to watch 2 hour long videos on its history but I'm glad I did. Good job shift!!!

I really appreciate this video. I loved this game as a kid and probably spent weeks playing it. I have loved watching speedrunning videos for a few years now and have an interest in speedrunning myself but have always found it pretty intimidating because I'm not very computer savvy or knowledged in recording/streaming. This really makes it seem less intimidating and I may go out and buy an xbox copy to play on my 360. Thank you

Gosh, I just tried these tricks and they're hard, but I managed to get to the third hub with 5 spatulas because of this! The 2 things I struggled with so far were getting on top of squidwards house because I didn't understand things at first, and the spongeball storage! I'll be watching more of this soon so that I can actually see if I can do all of the glitches in this game!

As someone that has never understood splits very well, despite watching a lot of speed runs, I really appreciate the guide you gave.
